Chapter 364 Going to See Jimmy Together
Mitchell held Willow's hand under the table, giving her a silent yet firm look, as if telling her that he was there for everything. He knew Willow well; she was kind-hearted. Even if the matter with Jimmy had nothing to do with her, she wouldn't ignore it, especially since it also involved her to some extent.
"After Jimmy argued with his father, he rarely came home. The father and son were at odds, and then one night Jimmy suddenly came back, looking lost and depressed, locking himself in his room, not going to school, not attending classes. We didn't know what had happened, and he wouldn't say. He lay in a daze for half a month, then went back to school on his own. A few days ago, the counselor suddenly called me, and that's when I found out he hadn't been attending classes at all, just sleeping in the dormitory," Jimmy's mother said, getting visibly emotional, her eyes reddening.
"Is he at school now?" Willow asked softly.
Jimmy's mother nodded with red eyes and said, "I was hoping you could help. Please go to school and talk to Jimmy. He should listen to you."
Willow and Mitchell exchanged a glance, then nodded solemnly. "Mrs. Cox, don't worry. I'll go to school in a while."
"Thank you, Willow." Jimmy's mother sincerely thanked her and left the restaurant without saying anything more.
Her son wasn't fortunate enough to have such a good girlfriend, and there was no point in dwelling on it.
In the afternoon, Willow took a leave of absence, and Mitchell accompanied her to A University. Mitchell's presence at the university was quite striking, attracting frequent glances and whispers from students as they walked on campus. They even ran into a professor from the architecture department. The old professor had taught both Mitchell and Willow before, and upon recognizing them, he jokingly said to Willow, "How did you manage to win over my most proud student?" and then gave her a thumbs up.
Mitchell greeted the old professor with a smile, "Hello, Professor." Willow, feeling a bit embarrassed, greeted him softly, "Hello, Professor."
"You two didn't come all this way just to see me, did you?" the old professor said. He sometimes contacted Mitchell to discuss academic matters, so they had a good relationship.
"Professor, we're not here to see you today. We have some other matters to attend to," Mitchell explained.
"Alright, you have your own things to do. Go ahead. I'm off to class," the old professor said cheerfully and left. Willow, still feeling embarrassed, asked Mitchell, "Mitchell, do you often keep in touch with the professor?"
Mitchell grinned. "Yes, sometimes we talk on the phone. The professor is quite lovely."
Willow widened her eyes in surprise. Lovely? He was quite serious during class, always calling on her to answer questions. She used to dread his classes the most.
The two of them walked to the men's dormitory building. Women were not allowed inside, but Mitchell said something to the dormitory supervisor, then held Willow's hand and went in, even finding out which room Jimmy was staying in.
Willow followed Mitchell upstairs in a daze and couldn't help but ask, "Mitchell, what did you say to the dormitory supervisor?"
"I didn't say much. Just asked which room Jimmy was in, and she told me, so we came in," Mitchell said, looking for Jimmy's room.
"Just like that?" Willow stared in disbelief.
"What else should I have done?" Mitchell stopped in his tracks, having found the room.
So this was the legendary charm of a handsome guy.
Mitchell stood in front of Willow and knocked on the door, and a boy opened it, looking at them with wide eyes, seeming a bit excited. "You are..." He couldn't finish his sentence.
Almost everyone in the architecture department knew Mitchell. He was a legend with photos in the school history, a genius in the architecture department. No wonder the boy who opened the door couldn't speak when he saw Mitchell.
Mitchell's cool voice broke the silence. "Hello, is Jimmy here?"
"Jimmy? Yeah, he's here, lying on the bed." The boy stepped back to let them in. Mitchell didn't enter immediately but turned around. Willow rushed forward and bumped into his arms. Willow looked up with a puzzled expression.
Mitchell sighed softly and said, "This is the boys' dormitory. Are you sure you want to go in directly?" Willow reflexively shook her head. Mitchell then softened his tone and said, "I'll go in and take a look. You wait here." Willow nodded vigorously.
The dormitory at A University was a four-person room, but when Mitchell entered Jimmy's room, besides the boy who opened the door, he didn't see anyone else. He looked around and found a person lying on a bed, presumably Jimmy. Mitchell walked over and stood by the bed. Although Jimmy was on the top bunk, Mitchell was tall enough to see Jimmy lying there, staring blankly at the ceiling.
The boy who opened the door followed behind and said, "You're Mitchell, right? You're the legend of our architecture major, my idol. Could you sign something for me later?"
Mitchell looked at the seemingly lifeless Jimmy on the bed, raised his chin, and asked, "What's wrong with him?"
The boy explained, "Jimmy got his heart broken. He confessed his feelings to someone but got rejected, and since then, he's been lying like this every day, only getting up to grab something to eat in the afternoon. Jimmy is the new hope of our college; the professors say he has the potential to catch up to you."
Listening to what Jimmy's roommate said, Mitchell frowned and said coldly, "Can I talk to him?"
The boy hesitated for a moment before responding, "Sure, I'll wait outside for you guys to talk." Then he opened the door and walked out.
Mitchell looked at the despondent Jimmy and said coldly, "If you weren't like this, I would have respected you as a worthy opponent."
Jimmy's eyes flickered slightly, but he still didn't react much.
"Your mother went to see Willow today. She's the girl I've been protecting since we were kids. She had given you a chance. Since Willow has made her choice, don't make her feel like she owes you anything. She's outside. I don't think you'd want her to see you like this. I won't let her in. Think about it yourself." After saying this, Mitchell prepared to leave. Jimmy was a stubborn person; if he didn't find his own way out, no one could help him. Mitchell's visit was not only to prevent Willow from worrying but also to prevent Jimmy's actions from affecting the person he wanted to protect.
Willow didn't owe him anything.
