Chapter 373 Goodbye Jimmy
After Willow returned to Horizon City, she saw Jimmy downstairs at the company on her first day back at work. She had returned to Horizon City on Sunday. She went straight to Mitchell's apartment, distributed the food she brought back from Seaspring Valley City to everyone, and then went to work with Mitchell on Monday.
Upon meeting Elizabeth, she teased Willow, "Willow, did you go out to play with Mr. Jonah? Why did you both take leave together and come back?" Willow blushed at the teasing and stuffed a piece of beef jerky from Seaspring Valley City into her mouth, saying, "I went back to see my parents." Elizabeth, chewing beef jerky, mused, "So you took Mr. Jonah to meet your parents."
Willow couldn't help but sweat. She quickly stuffed Elizabeth with a few more packs of beef jerky to keep her busy eating and talking less. Unexpectedly, during the meeting, the manager happily asked while eating beef jerky. "Did Willow take Mr. Jonah to meet her parents? This is a good thing coming up. We are all looking forward to your treats."
Willow was stunned, not knowing how to explain, just nodding.
Later, the news spread out as, "Confirmed by Willow herself, Mr. Jonah and Willow from Project One will soon be getting married." Even Mitchell personally replied and added some hype, posting a message in the group. [Don't worry. There will be treats.]
Now everyone firmly believed that the two were about to get married, even speculating whether it would be Mr. Nelson's wedding first or Mr. Jonah's wedding first.
Willow scanned the gossip group messages and finally understood the sensation of a rumor becoming reality.
If she were to marry Mitchell, it shouldn't happen this soon, definitely not before Matthew and his wife. Speaking of marriage... it still felt unreal to her.
When leaving work, Mitchell said he would fetch the car from the garage and asked her to wait for him in the lobby on the first floor. Just as Willow walked out the door, she saw a familiar figure standing not far away under the streetlight. Jimmy stood there straight in a gray tracksuit, looking noticeably thinner than before, but still quite eye-catching. Colleagues leaving work kept glancing back, whispering to each other.
Willow walked over to him, stopping in front of him. Jimmy smiled at her, giving her a familiar feeling as if they were meeting for the first time at the barbecue shop near the school gate. She was pleasantly surprised to see Jimmy at the company's entrance. When Mother Jimmy came to find her before, she was worried whether they had met at the school. Mitchell had promised he would come to her, but she didn't expect it to happen so soon.
"Are you doing well recently?" Willow asked with a slight smile.
"Pretty good," Jimmy replied casually. Then he asked, "Willow, can I take you out for dinner tonight?" Willow turned her head and saw Mitchell's car coming out of the garage.
Mitchell spotted Willow and Jimmy standing under the streetlight at the entrance from a distance. He parked the car on the side, got out, and walked toward them.
Jimmy also saw him and then said to Willow, "I'm going abroad."
"When?" Willow was somewhat shocked by this news, but quickly remembered Mother Jimmy's words that day and said, "Going abroad is great."
Jimmy smiled slightly and said, "Yes, it's great. I'm leaving tomorrow."
"Why the rush?" Willow didn't expect him to leave the next day.
"I've got my school application sorted over there I want to go early and get familiar with everything," Jimmy explained.
"Well, I wish you a safe journey ahead," Willow said with a smile.
"Thank you," Jimmy replied with a smile. The two of them seemed like old friends, understanding each other without saying much. At this moment, Mitchell walked up to Willow, taking her hand assertively.
After seeing him coming over, Jimmy took the initiative and said, "Mitchell, can I borrow Willow for a few hours tonight?" Jimmy didn't call him 'Mr. Jonah' but 'Mitchell', perhaps as a token of gratitude to Mitchell for waking him up a few days ago. Mitchell frowned slightly, and Willow explained, "Jimmy is leaving for studying abroad tomorrow and wants to take me out for dinner tonight."
"Don't worry. It's just dinner. I won't run off with her," Jimmy said with a smirk, noticing Mitchell's obvious concern.
"Do you really think you could run off with her?" Mitchell looked at Jimmy confidently. Jimmy, not getting angry, looked at Willow and said playfully, "Mitchell, how did you manage to catch her? Need permission even for dinner with a friend."
Mitchell ignored him, holding Willow's hand, gently rubbing her palm with his thumb. Facing Willow's expectant eyes, he finally nodded slightly. "Alright, go ahead and eat. Call me after dinner. I'll come pick you up." He was indeed worried and didn't want Willow to have dinner alone with Jimmy, but in the end, he compromised. It's just dinner, nothing serious, he still had confidence in himself.
"Okay," Willow replied with a smile.
Jimmy treated her to dinner at a slightly spicy restaurant, keeping it low-key. Most importantly, he remembered that Willow liked slightly spicy dishes. The restaurant was located near the JK Group building, and the two walked there.
This restaurant was newly opened, and Willow hadn't been there before. Jimmy brought her there, and she realized a new restaurant had opened near the company. They ordered four dishes and a soup.
"What time is your flight tomorrow?" Willow asked during the wait for the food.
"10 in the morning," Jimmy replied. Then he teasingly asked, "Willow, do you want to see me off? Your man at home might be anxious." Willow blushed slightly and explained for Mitchell, "Mitchell won't..."
"Forget it. I don't like those farewell scenes. It's better for me to leave quietly, more relaxed." Jimmy quickly interrupted her before she could finish. Tonight would serve as the formal farewell, so he decided to skip the airport send-off.
He didn't tell Willow that he had waited downstairs at her apartment building for two days without seeing her. Afterwards, he inquired with the security guard, who mentioned she hadn't frequently been returning lately. He then asked her colleagues at the company and found out she had gone to see her parents with Mitchell.
So, it appeared that they might have some positive developments ahead.
Ultimately, all he could muster was congratulations for the girl he admired.
