Chapter 228 Gathering at the All-Staff Resort
"Why does she want to go together? We're not close with her, and I don't want to go out and play with her," Daniel reacted excitedly and resisted.
Mitchell remained calm. "Ask mom, she said so."
"What about you? Do you want to take her out to play? All you ever do is listen to Mom, being her obedient son! She sets up a blind date for you. You go on it. She tells you to date someone, you date them. Bro, how come I never noticed that you're actually afraid of mom?" Daniel was angry.
"Don't talk nonsense," Mitchell frowned slightly. "Would you dare to make Mom unhappy? Besides, Ella hasn't been back to the country for long and doesn't have many friends." Mitchell explained. Daniel snorted and turned to look out the window. He really didn't dare to anger his mom, or instead, their whole family didn't dare. After all, their dad listened to their mom about everything.
The car stopped downstairs, where Ella lived. Mitchell finished his call to her and said to Daniel, "Daniel, sit in the back row." Daniel glared at him angrily, opened and closed the front passenger door forcefully, and sat in the back seat.
The two waited for about ten minutes. Ella walked over with a suitcase, dressed in a slim-fitting dress and wearing a big sun hat and sunglasses. Mitchell got out of the car to help her put the suitcase into the trunk. Ella got in the car first and saw Daniel in the back row. She took the initiative to greet him with a smile. "Daniel is here too." Daniel didn't say anything and forced a smile, which could be considered a response. Mitchell put the suitcase in place, and Ella had already taken off her hat and sunglasses. "What's wrong with Daniel? He doesn't seem very interested in going out to play." Mitchell glanced back at his sister, who was pretending to sleep in the back row. This little girl really had no face. "Maybe she woke up early and didn't sleep well. Let her sleep."
At 10 a.m., at the resort's central location, the parking spaces in front of the large villa gradually filled with luxury cars. Everyone arrived relatively punctually, one after another.
Nicholas greeted everyone at the entrance, with Rachel standing by his side. The two stood together like the owners of the villa. Madison and the others arrived in the first wave. After getting out of the car, the two little ones happily ran toward Nicholas and Rachel.
"Godmother, Nicholas!"
Rachel hurriedly greeted them, "Take it easy, be careful not to fall."
"Godmother, how did you arrive earlier than us?" Hannah Garcia pouted, carrying her little backpack and seeming a bit unhappy. She thought she would be the first one to arrive, but the godmother and Nicholas took the first place.
Madison also walked over and didn't expect Rachel to have already arrived. "Yeah, Rachel, how did you get here so early?"
Rachel, feeling guilty and embarrassed, said, "I woke up early in the morning and left right away." Nicholas, who was nearby, gave her a deep look, and she didn't dare to look at him while holding onto Hannah Garcia and continuing to walk ahead.
Madison overlooked the subtle details between them, only focusing on admiring the surrounding scenery. It had changed significantly. The construction of the resort hadn't occupied many of the old houses in the village. It was mainly built on the deserted hills and open land. Due to the resort's development, it attracted many tourists, and many families in the village opened bed and breakfasts and agritainment farm restaurants.
"Nicholas, I remember this used to be a fish pond." Madison smiled as she reminisced.
"Yes, you still remember." Nicholas smiled and asked.
"Of course, I remember. Matthew, did you know that when I was a child, I used to catch fish here?" Madison excitedly described while pulling Matthew. Father-in-law, mother-in-law, and Hank followed along, listening to Madison's childhood anecdotes.
Quentin and Hannah were brought into the villa by Rachel. Someone in the refrigerator poured them each a cup of yogurt, which Nicholas had bought last night when he took her to town on the little electric scooter.
Hannah Garcia had a ring of yogurt around her little mouth and asked while drinking, "Can we still drink this strawberry yogurt?" She had just finished one and wanted more.
Rachel smiled and looked at her yogurt-covered face. "Yes, there are several more bottles. After you finish, godmother will buy more for you."
Hannah Garcia waved her hand, asking Rachel to squat down. Then, when Rachel wasn't paying attention, she kissed Rachel on the cheek, and a sweet smile appeared on her face. "Thank you, godmother."
Rachel was delighted by his flattery and jokingly said to Quentin, who stood beside her, "Why don't you give Quentin a godmother's kiss, too?" Quentin hesitated for a moment before lightly touching Rachel's cheek. Then, he blushed, turning away to continue drinking his yogurt. This kiss made Rachel ecstatic because she knew that Quentin would not easily show affection to anyone.
Rachel led the two children, each holding a bottle of yogurt, to find the rest of the group. As soon as they stepped outside, three luxury cars arrived one after another. One car was Liam and Ophelia, another was Patrick and Willow, and the last one was Victor's. Ophelia, initially wearing a big hat and sunglasses when she got out of the car, let loose when she saw that everyone there was familiar faces and ultimately lost her celebrity persona. She left Liam and went straight to find Willow. Madison briefly introduced Nicholas and Rachel to everyone, and Nicholas told them to go to the villa first to drop off their luggage and rest. Just as he finished speaking, the last car arrived. Daniel got out of the car first, and when Willow and Ophelia saw her, they ran over. "Daniel."
Willow suddenly stopped in her tracks. She saw the person sitting in the passenger seat, Ella.
Ophelia was behind her and, seeing her sudden stop, asked, "What's wrong, Willow?"
Willow felt all her excitement disappear in an instant. How could Mitchell bring her along? Did he really see her as someone special and bring her along to meet everyone, formally introducing her to them?
She knew her brothers well, just like Brother Four and Ophelia. Brother Four would not bring anyone in front of them if he did not want to be with them. Willow suppressed her sadness and said, "It's nothing. I thought I had just seen a bug. Probably just my imagination."
"It could be a bug, but it's alright. I have a lot of them in my hometown. They don't bite," Ophelia said with a smile. Then she took Willow's hand and walked forward.
Daniel took her luggage and quickly walked to Willow and Ophelia. Mitchell pushed two suitcases and led Ella over to greet everyone. He only introduced her as "Ella" without saying much else. Ella had spent a long time abroad and had an outgoing and cheerful personality, so she didn't create an awkward atmosphere and warmly greeted everyone. The others looked at the girl Mitchell brought with him and were polite to her.
Madison glanced at Willow, then at Mitchell and Ella, and let out a slight sigh. Matthew, who was beside her, asked what was wrong. "It's nothing." Matthew had amnesia and definitely didn't remember that Willow liked Mitchell.
Matthew raised an eyebrow but didn't ask further.
