Chapter 197 Time to Go Home

Matthew gently squeezed Madison's hand, conveying reassurance, before turning to Bella with a determined expression. "Bella, you know my decision won't change. Even without my memories, I've fallen in love with her all over again." He gazed at Madison with profound affection, and Madison returned the sentiment, their silent exchange speaking volumes.

Bella burst into laughter, breaking the tension. "Ha, just kidding. I, Bella, wouldn't want someone who doesn't love me."

Gratefully, Madison stepped forward, expressing her heartfelt gratitude, "Bella, thank you for saving Matthew. If you ever have the chance, we'd love for you to visit us in Horizon City."

Bella regarded Madison with a faint smile, reflecting on her insecurities - whether it was her appearance or demeanor. She had thought she held an advantage, but love transcended superficial standards; the heart loves who it loves, regardless of external qualities. It's simply about being the right fit.

Even amidst memory loss, the instinct to love persists - the desire not to cause harm, the unwillingness to reject, and the unmistakable warmth that draws one closer.

"Alright, just make sure you don't lose him again," Bella remarked with a carefree smile.

Madison nodded fervently, "Never again," holding Matthew's hand tightly.

Bella embraced Matthew briefly, whispering in his ear, "Zero, goodbye." With that, she released him, turned, and headed back to the cruise ship. "You're also welcome to visit C-country sometime."

Without looking back, she boarded the ship, which soon set sail, leaving the dock behind.
As Matthew and Madison watched the ship fade into the distance, they waved before turning back toward the hotel. Meanwhile, Bella stood on the deck, observing their departing forms. Though reluctant, she knew it was the best outcome, and she had played her part well.

Despite a hint of regret, Bella understood that clinging to something without genuine affection was futile. She had preserved what she wanted and facilitated the happiness of two lovers. One day, she believed, she would find her own Mr. Right.

The promise made by the Godfather of the Mystical Scholars Society weighed heavily on Bella's mind. She knew all too well that it was granted because she had saved Zero, who must have been deeply connected to him.

Bella let out a long sigh. In her life, there were things far more significant importance to him.

With a sigh, Bella acknowledged that her life held greater pursuits than mere romance. She cast one last glance toward the distant figures of Matthew and said, "Goodbye."

Madison before bidding them farewell.

Back at the hotel, Matthew and Madison began packing for their return journey. With their flight booked for the next day, Madison eagerly anticipated reuniting with her children in Horizon City.
Moving his luggage into Madison's room, Matthew prepared for their final night in Lunaria. They spent the evening together, reminiscing as they finished packing.

Victor had informed Mitchell and the brothers about finding Matthew on the day it happened. They were in the group chat almost daily, asking Victor when they were returning. When they learned that Matthew had lost his memory, everyone was concerned. Now that they were finally returning, everyone was overjoyed.

"Willow," Madison greeted warmly, sensing her sister's excitement.

"I heard you're flying back tomorrow—that's wonderful news! I can't wait to see you," Willow exclaimed enthusiastically.

Madison understood her sister's excitement, knowingfeelings. She knew how much their family and friends in Horizon City were eagerly awaiting their return.

"Madison, is my brother with you?" Willow inquired.

Madison glanced over at the figure organizing their belongings and responded softly, "Yes."

"Does he still need to remember? I fear he won't recognize me when he sees me," Willow remarked with a hint of anxiety. It was daunting to think that Matthew not wouldn't recognize her.
"He'll remember, I'm sure of it," Madison reassured with a smile.

"I hope so. Hurry up and pack your bags; I'll be at the airport to pick you guys up," Willow urged Madison to prepare.

"Okay," Madison replied cheerfully, ending the call. She then noticed Matthew's gaze fixed on her. He approached her and inquired, "Who was on the phone? You seemed happy."

"It was Willow," Madison replied, meeting Matthew's uncertain expression. He shook his head slightly, indicating, "I don't remember anything."

Madison listened, mirroring Willow's concern, thinking perhaps she should preemptively explain to the twins about her temporary memory loss due to an injury...

Later that evening, Madison took a shower first. Upon stepping out, she found Matthew unbuttoning his shirt, revealing numerous scars on his chest from sharp weapon cuts. Although they had shared a bed the previous night, Madison hadn't taken a close look out of shyness. Now, seeing the scars, tears welled up involuntarily in her eyes.

"That must have been painful," she empathized.

Approaching Matthew, Madison gently touched the scars on his chest, tears brimming, "Matthew, did these happen during the explosion?"

Matthew nodded.

"It must have been excruciating," Madison sympathized.

"It's healed now; the pain's gone," Matthew reassured, taking her hand. Despite her tearful gaze, which stirred his emotions, her touch felt intense, igniting warmth within him.

Resisting the urge, Matthew held her hand, cautious not to escalate the intimacy.

Madison didn't find the scars repulsive; instead, she felt grateful for them. Beneath those scars beat a passionate heart.

It was these scars that shielded his heart, allowing it to keep beating, to keep living.

Fresh from her shower, Madison wore a simple nightgown, her face devoid of makeup. She was consumed with concern for Matthew's scars, unaware of his discomfort. As she traced the scars further down his body, Matthew abruptly grabbed her wandering hand, sensing a certain change below.

Perplexed, Madison looked up at him with innocent, wide eyes.

Matthew cleared his throat awkwardly and cautioned, "Don't look at me like that; I can't resist when you do."
