Chapter 265 Caught in the Act

When Willow arrived at the office, most people had yet to come, but the project manager was there early. He greeted Willow with a smile on his face and called her into his office.

Willow looked at the manager, who seemed so happy, and couldn't help but ask, "Manager, what's making you so happy?"

The project manager leisurely made coffee and happily replied, "Regarding the project you're working on, President Jonah personally discussed five points for the year-end bonus with our project team. Didn't I ask you to take the documents to President Jonah last week? That day, the other party sent a supplemental agreement, and President Jonah took care of it by working overtime on Saturday. Now we're just waiting for the year-end bonus."

Willow was slightly startled. The day she delivered the documents was the day she saw Laura in Mitchell's office! Why would Laura give them an extra five points? Although it didn't affect the entire project, Laura must have paid for it herself.

"Why? Why did they agree to give us another five points? We've already signed the agreement, so they have no reason to voluntarily give us benefits." Willow couldn't understand. Why would someone rush to give money?

"I don't know about that. You can ask President Jonah. He definitely knows," the manager said. He didn't care about these things. As long as he could get more bonus, he was happy. Would anyone refuse free money?

Willow naturally would have to wait to ask Mitchell about this. It was between Mitchell and Laura. How could she interfere? Like the manager said, having a bonus to take was already a reason to be happy!

Willow was originally supposed to sign the supplemental agreement, but hearing the manager say that Mitchell had already taken care of it, she didn't need to follow up anymore, which was quite good. Perhaps Mitchell wanted to personally deal with Laura, Willow thought gloomily.

After leaving the manager's office, Willow decided to search for her previous graduation thesis in her cloud storage. She had some time to help Jimmy with his paper; otherwise, her mother would call and remind her to take care of "little brother" again. Willow found her graduation thesis in the cloud storage and opened it. It was a revised version that Mr. Ward had sent back. There were only so many parts that seemed useful for reference. Willow hesitantly opened Jimmy's paper and started making changes, primarily focusing on the practical aspects based on her project participation. She finished this part quickly, in about half an hour. The next step was the theoretical knowledge and his graduation project. She really felt at a loss and spent a long time in front of the computer without making any progress. She sighed and put her head on the desk.

Elizabeth Wolf, who was sitting across from her, watched Willow staring intently at the computer all morning. Now she started sighing again. "What's wrong, Willow? I see you've been busy all morning. Did you not finish the proposal?"

Willow felt guilty. She did other things at work, and Mitchell usually took care of the proposals. She really felt undeserving of her salary. "Yes, it's almost done," she replied, sitting up straight. She couldn't help but comfort herself, thinking that she finally had some free time to do things unrelated to work today. Normally, she wouldn't have this kind of leisure time. She continued editing the paper with a sense of contentment but soon felt that it was better when she hadn't made any changes. She was ready to give up and let Jimmy handle it himself.

Just as Willow was about to stand up and stretch and maybe grab a cup of coffee to refresh herself, she heard a familiar voice behind her. "This data is wrong." A shadow cast over her, and slender fingers pointed at her computer screen. Willow froze in her seat. When did Mitchell come?

Willow felt embarrassed, as if she had been caught doing something wrong. She kept her head low, her cheeks slightly flushed, and smiled foolishly. Mitchell extended his hands, reaching over her head, and began operating her computer. After roughly scanning through it, he said, "Send it to me and come to my office at noon. I'll take a look."

Mitchell left the 15th floor with these words, and Willow breathed a sigh of relief when she saw him enter the elevator. She patted her chest and asked Elizabeth Wolf across from her, "When did President Jonah come? Why didn't you remind me?" Elizabeth Wolf looked up from her computer and replied, "It's been a few minutes. Weren't you working on the proposal? Don't worry; President Jonah is really nice. He stayed late at work today and helped you revise the proposal." Willow felt even more guilty and could only smile and nod. She didn't know if Mitchell was angry or not. His demeanor just now didn't seem like he was angry. If he helped revise Jimmy's paper, that kid really lucked out.

Mitchell returned to his office feeling a bit gloomy. He had originally wanted to go downstairs to see if Willow was still coughing and remind her to continue taking her medication. As he looked at her sitting in front of the computer, working diligently, and thought about reminding her to rest, he realized there were no new projects these days. He had done everything that could be done when he worked late on Saturday. Who knew that as he approached, he discovered she was earnestly helping someone else revise a paper, and he saw the name—Jimmy, it was Jimmy again.

In an instant, he started to lose confidence. After all, he was several years older than Jimmy. Would Willow be like Daniel said, liking this young and handsome guy? He was a bit angry that she disregarded her health. Clearly, she was still coughing, and he worried that she was working too hard and exhausting herself while revising the paper. He decided to do it himself since it wasn't the first time anyway.

At noon, just as it was time for lunch, Willow received a call from Mitchell asking her to come up straight to his office and have lunch there. Willow climbed up to the 16th floor from the stairwell. Most people on the 16th floor had already gone out for lunch. She walked to Mitchell's office and knocked on the door. Mitchell's deep voice came from inside, "Come in."

Willow entered and saw that the table for guests was already set with food, and Mitchell was busy at his computer. When he saw her come in, he didn't look up but spoke, "You can start eating. I'll be done in a few minutes."

"Okay." Willow sat down on the sofa and opened the food container. She took out utensils from the sterilizer in Mitchell's office. Just as she was about to finish, Mitchell walked over. "The dishes ordered today are relatively light. You haven't fully recovered from your cold, so don't eat anything spicy for now."

Willow nodded obediently. On the table were three dishes and a soup, a plentiful feast. Actually, she didn't mind spicy food as long as it tasted good. It's just that she often ate at roadside stalls with Daniel, where the food was greasy and tangy, and Mitchell always caught her. That's why Mitchell mistakenly thought she didn't like bland dishes.

As Mitchell ate, he casually asked, "Why are you helping someone else revise a paper?"
