Chapter 320 Two Childish Men
Hannah looked at her uncle and laughed, thinking he didn't believe what she said. Hannah removed her uncle and seriously grabbed Matthew, "Dad, it's true." Matthew indulgently echoed, "I believe Hannah."
Hannah arrogantly raised her head with Matthew's approval, feeling very pleased. Hank gently tapped her little nose, "Hannah, your uncle believes you too."
With Hank's approval, the little Hannah became even happier, pulling everyone to share the dream she had.
Madison had just finished cooking before they entered. Although she didn't know Hank was coming, the amount of food she made was quite substantial, especially the spicy dishes she mentioned to Matthew yesterday. She cooked a large pot of it and also made a non-spicy portion for Quentin and Hannah, along with six other dishes. So, with Hank's arrival, there was definitely enough food for everyone.
As soon as Hank walked into the living room, he smelled the delicious aroma of the food and couldn't help but exclaim, "Madison, what did you cook? It smells so good." The family chatted as they walked toward the dining room. The table was already set with food.
"Wash your hands before eating," Madison said with a smile, taking Quentin and Hannah to wash their hands. Hank grabbed a piece of food with his hands and put it in his mouth, praising, "Delicious, delicious. The food Madison makes is even better than what my mom makes."
"Hank, why don't you stay a few more days, and I'll cook for you every day." Madison invited, feeling happy to see her family.
"I'm not as lucky as Matthew, who gets to eat your cooking every day. I have to go back in two days. Work is too busy. I thought transferring back to Emerald Isle City would be easier, but it's still hectic." Hank glanced at Matthew and jokingly remarked.
Matthew sat in a chair, wearing a smile reminiscent of Ophelia's. He wasn't angry but calmly remarked, "Then you should hurry up and find a wife." The straightforward comment hit Hank right in the heart. Hank sat down next to Hannah, swiftly using his fork to grab the largest shrimp, then childishly raised his chin, looking smugly at Matthew. In response, Matthew joined in the playfulness, directly moving the plate of shrimp in front of himself to guard it. Madison couldn't help but laugh at the childish behavior of the two. She placed the plate of shrimp in the middle of the table, pretending to be serious, "All right, if you want more, I'll cook for you tomorrow. No one is allowed to touch the plate now." The two childish 'kids' finally settled down and began to eat properly.
After dinner, Madison was in the room preparing Hank's bed. She took the clean sheets and covers she had washed and neatly arranged them. When Hank walked in, he took the sheets from Madison's hands and arranged them himself. Madison watched him skillfully make the bed, then teasingly asked, "Hank, when will you find a wife for me?" She had been thinking of introducing Rachel or Willow to her brother, but now both of them had boyfriends.
Hank sat down once the bed was made and teased, "Why are you more concerned than our parents?"
"I'm just looking out for you," Madison replied, sitting down as well.
The siblings sat together chatting, exchanging casual remarks without much depth. This kind of casual banter was typical among family members. Madison lingered in Hank's room, but eventually, Hank had to usher her out, "If you don't leave now, Matthew might come over and catch you. I don't want to provoke him."
"Matthew isn't that dramatic." Madison chuckled, but she eventually went back to her room. She had enjoyed the conversation with her brother, but she knew Matthew might actually get upset if she stayed longer.
When Madison returned to her room, she found Matthew already lying in bed, leaning against the headboard, engrossed in his laptop. Hearing Madison enter, he didn't even lift his head. Madison quietly took her pajamas and went to take a shower. After half an hour, she emerged, but Matthew still seemed unresponsive. Madison was now sure that he was actually upset.
Madison climbed onto the bed, reaching out to shake his hand in a conciliatory manner, "Are you angry?" Matthew let out a petulant hum and even turned his face away. Undeterred, Madison moved to the other side, coaxing the childish man, "Don't be mad. How about I give you a massage? Hank rarely visits Horizon City, so I spent a bit more time with him." She then explained with a smile, puckering up for a sweet kiss on Matthew's cheek, which finally softened his expression.
"Just one kiss enough?" Matthew closed his laptop and placed it on the bedside table. In reality, he hadn't read a single word of his emails. He had been eagerly waiting for Madison to return to the room, but he didn't want to rush her. Now that she was back, he found it hard to focus, especially with the sound of running water from her shower distracting him.
Madison sat in front of Matthew, smiling as she wrapped her arms around his neck, puckering up again, this time planting a kiss directly on his lips. As soon as their lips met, he held the back of her head, swiftly rolling over to pin her beneath him.
The following day, Madison was awakened by Quentin and Hannah's laughter. When she opened her eyes, she was surprised to see that it was already ten o'clock. She tried to get up but felt sore all over her body. She slowly got out of bed, quickly brushed her teeth, and washed her face. She had planned to take Hank to her favorite breakfast spot in the southern part of the city for some special treats, but now it seemed too late for breakfast and almost time to prepare lunch.
As Madison brushed her teeth in front of the mirror, she couldn't help but suspect that Matthew had pretended to be upset last night, luring her to soothe him, only to keep her busy with various activities.
After going downstairs, Madison saw the two kids playing with models but didn't see Matthew and Hank. Quentin and Hannah noticed Madison coming downstairs and shouted, "Mom, are you awake?" Madison nodded somewhat awkwardly, asking, "Where's Dad and Uncle?"
"Dad's in the kitchen, and Uncle is in the garden." Quentin pointed in the direction of the kitchen.
Perplexed, Madison walked toward the kitchen, curious about what Matthew could be doing there. She was always worried about him breaking dishes, even when he helped her wash them. Although he always followed her around when she cooked, she was still curious.
