Chapter 327 Meeting the Parents
Willow woke up early the following day, thinking about meeting the parents as Mitchell's girlfriend, feeling a bit nervous. She spent quite some time in the bathroom before coming out, only to realize that all her clothes were in her own apartment. She hurriedly dragged Mitchell back to change clothes. Although Mitchell said, "No need to go back to change clothes, you look great in this outfit, anything suits you," Willow was wearing the outfit she wore to work two days ago, which had been washed and dried yesterday.
"No, this is too formal, not like going to work." Willow pulled Mitchell out, and he drove her back despite his compliance.
Back at the apartment, Willow spent over half an hour just trying on clothes, feeling unsatisfied with each one... The bed was covered with clothes, and when Mitchell walked in, seeing the bed full of clothes, he guessed that Willow had taken out all the clothes from the wardrobe to try on, still standing by the bed with a worried look. She was wearing a cream-colored dress with puffy sleeves and a bit of lace on the hem, looking gentle, lovely, and playful.
Seeing Mitchell enter the room, Willow pouted and sat down as if deflated, "I don't have any suitable clothes." She looked adorable. Mitchell, with a slight smile on his handsome face, walked over and said gently, "Let me see." He pretended to carefully examine the pile of clothes on the bed, then turned to Willow and said, "This dress you're wearing is perfect."
"Really?" Willow turned to him, "It feels a bit too plain and kind of childish. I think I wore this last time, too." Willow still didn't feel good about it.
"What's wrong with that? Trust me, this dress is the best." Mitchell's serious tone and sincere gaze convinced Willow, and she finally decided not to change clothes and stuck with the dress she was wearing. Finally, she happily tidied up the clothes on the bed, stood in front of the mirror, and murmured, "I think this one is the most suitable." Mitchell stood behind her, arms crossed, leaning against the door frame, looking at her with a fond smile.
After changing clothes, Willow dragged Mitchell to buy gifts. Although Mitchell said there was no need to buy gifts, just showing up was enough, Willow insisted on buying gifts for everyone. In the end, she bought two cans of tea for Father Jonah, a silk nightgown for Mother Jonah, and the latest tablet for Daniel, not extravagant gifts but carefully selected ones suitable for each of them.
There was a little incident while buying gifts. Mitchell, carrying the gifts behind her, stopped in his tracks, looking unhappy. He pretended to be aggrieved and said, "Why don't I have a gift?" Willow turned back, walked back with a smile, took his hand, and kissed his cheek, saying shyly, "This is your gift." Only then did Mitchell smile and hold her hand tightly as they left the store together.
This visit was different in status. Although Father Jonah and Mother Jonah were familiar with Willow, she couldn't show up empty-handed. She had been unsure about what to bring, but last night, when she called Matthew and Madison, Madison recommended a shop that sold silk nightgowns, saying that although they were a bit pricey, the quality was excellent, so she decided to buy one for Mother Jonah.
She called Matthew last night and told him about Father Jonah and Mother Jonah inviting her for dinner. Although Matthew always seemed serious and reserved, she knew he was actually warm-hearted inside, so she was used to turning to him first when she needed help. When they were in school and parents were called, it was either Mitchell or Matthew who dealt with it.
Matthew received the call and simply said, "It's your decision for the first formal visit, don't forget the gift. I'll reimburse you." Their family placed great importance on such etiquette.
After buying the gifts, Willow sat in Mitchell's car on the way back. She was no longer nervous, but as they were about to get out of the car, she seemed to get a bit anxious again. They hadn't mentioned when they would return, so it was a big surprise for everyone when they walked in hand in hand.
Mother Jonah rushed over, pulling her in and complaining to Mitchell, "You kid, why didn't you tell us in advance? We should have gone out to pick up Willow. Bringing a girlfriend home for dinner without informing us, and now we have to speak for you."
"It's not like she's a stranger," Mitchell retorted quietly.
Mother Jonah got angry at once, "You still have the nerve."
Willow quickly intervened, "Auntie, don't blame Mitchell. It was just me feeling a bit embarrassed." Her voice grew softer as she spoke. Mother Jonah quickly led her inside, and Father Jonah and Daniel also came over. Daniel hugged Willow, sweetly calling her "sister-in-law," then mischievously winked at Mitchell and Willow.
Blushing at Daniel's antics, Willow said, "Daniel…"
Father Jonah playfully scolded Daniel, "Daniel, you're being too much." Then he added, "But you're not wrong. She will be your sister-in-law." Willow blushed even more. Mitchell cleared his throat and handed over the gift to ease the situation, or else Willow's head might have dropped to the floor.
"Dad, Mom, these are gifts from Willow." He handed over the items. Father Jonah and Mother Jonah happily accepted the gifts from their future daughter-in-law. Mother Jonah kept saying, "Willow, you really shouldn't have brought gifts this time. It's just a casual dinner, no need for gifts." She said with a smile, but she was truly delighted.
Mother Jonah had always liked Willow and had even thought it would be great if she could be her daughter-in-law. Later, seeing that her son didn't seem interested in anyone, she didn't bring it up. Mother Jonah truly treated Willow like a daughter, thinking that if her son wasn't interested, she wouldn't force it as long as Willow could find a good family in the future. She never expected that Mitchell would come to his senses and give her such a big surprise. It was enough to make her wake up laughing in the middle of the night.
Daniel pouted unhappily, "Why do Mom and Dad have gifts, but I don't?" Willow smiled and handed her the bag she was holding, "How could I forget you?" Daniel's eyes widened in surprise. She didn't really want a gift; it was just a casual remark, but she didn't expect Willow to remember. It was the latest tablet she had been talking about buying, and it turned out that Willow had personally selected it.
The familiar feeling dispelled Willow's nervousness, and she looked at Mitchell, who was also looking at her, and they smiled at each other.
