Chapter 404 You Were My Joy 3

After getting into college, Mitchell became even busier than before. He couldn't come home every week. Fortunately, A University was in Horizon City, so he would occasionally come back. Willow was much happier in middle school than she was in sixth grade because she could play with Danielle again. Middle school girls were completely different from elementary school girls. They would follow celebrities, buy pretty clothes together, and go shopping after school. In short, it was much more exciting than elementary school.

Willow, led by Danielle, followed celebrities, went shopping, and ate street food, living a very exciting life. However, perhaps because handsome and academically excellent older brothers had always surrounded them, they were quite oblivious to such matters. Unlike some girls who always discussed which boy in the class was good-looking or who played basketball well, the two of them only cared about where to find good food and which celebrity had a concert coming up, begging their brothers to buy tickets. Every time Mitchell or Matthew received such a request, they would frown and then transfer the money. Neither of them could understand what was so great about concerts.

By the time Mitchell was in college, he had grown to over 6 feet tall. Willow, standing in front of him, couldn't even reach his chest, looking like a little kid. During middle school, Willow and Danielle often went to each other's houses to play or do homework. Danielle was a grade ahead of her and sometimes acted like a little teacher, helping Willow with her studies. If they played or did homework late, they would sleep over at each other's houses.

At that time, Mitchell didn't come home often and would only occasionally see Willow at his house. She still looked like she hadn't grown up, with a slightly chubby face that looked very cute. Every time Mitchell came back, he would bring them small gifts, which made them very happy.

The first two years of middle school were the most carefree for Willow. In the third year, Danielle went to high school and lived on campus. Mitchell was in his junior year of college and was extremely busy, coming home only once every one or two months. Even when he did come back, they wouldn't necessarily see each other.

Boys started passing notes to Willow, but she always declined them. When did she realize that Mitchell was different from her other brothers in her heart? It was on a Friday in her third year of middle school when Danielle had arranged to go to A University to get tickets from Mitchell. The most popular music group at the time was having a concert in Horizon City, and Mitchell had managed to get two tickets for them. He didn't have time to come home, so he called Danielle to pick up the tickets from his school.

After school on Friday, Willow saw Danielle waving at her and shouting, "Willow, over here."

Willow, carrying her backpack, ran over. "Danielle, why are you here so early?" High school should be very busy, Willow thought, as she had planned to take a cab to Danielle's school to find her.

"Today, the seniors are using our classroom for exams, so we got the afternoon off. Hurry up, let's find Mitchell. I'm so excited about the concert tickets! Many of our classmates couldn't get them, but he managed to." Danielle excitedly grabbed Willow's hand, hailed a cab, and headed to A University.

The band holding the concert was one that Danielle and Willow had always liked, so when Mitchell got them tickets, Willow was also very excited. Plus, she hadn't seen Mitchell for a while and was inexplicably looking forward to it.

It was rush hour after school on Friday, and the roads were packed with cars. It took them an hour to reach the gate of A University, and by the time they got out of the cab, it was already 6:30 PM. Danielle first called Mitchell, but no one answered, so she had to pull Willow along to find him inside the campus.

The university was very large, and they had to ask several people before they found the entrance to the boys' dormitory. At the dorm entrance, they grabbed someone and mentioned Mitchell's name. The person, who turned out to be Mitchell's classmate, enthusiastically told them that Mitchell was still in the teaching building and offered to take them there since it was on his way.

With Mitchell's classmate leading the way, Willow and Danielle quickly arrived at the entrance of the architecture department's teaching building. The enthusiastic classmate then left, indicating that he had indeed brought them along because it was on his way.

Danielle pulled Willow upstairs, saying that Mitchell was in Room 302. They headed straight for their destination, but as they approached the back door of Room 302, they heard a girl softly crying. Between sobs, she said, "Why is it like this? I don't believe you never noticed my feelings for you. And you clearly don't have someone you like or are dating, so why can't it be me? Our families and education levels are similar, and we can go abroad for further studies after graduation. If you like, we can even settle abroad. I can accept all of that."

Danielle and Willow hid by the back door, craning their necks to eavesdrop. After the girl finished speaking, they heard Mitchell's cold voice. "Sorry, I have no plans to go abroad, and I'm not interested in you."

"I don't believe it. Studying architecture without going abroad for further studies, can you have a future staying here? Anyone with the means would go abroad," the girl suddenly shouted, seemingly unable to believe what Mitchell was saying and thinking his mindset was problematic.

Mitchell didn't seem to want to argue further, his voice growing even colder as he said, "It's none of your business." He then turned to leave.

The girl, seemingly agitated, started crying loudly. She was a dance student, very beautiful, and her heartbroken appearance would make anyone feel sorry for her.

She shouted at his back, "You'll regret this!" and then ran out of the classroom's front door, crying.

Mitchell walked to the back door, stopped, and said, "Come out."

Willow and Danielle slowly walked out with their heads down.

Danielle immediately raised her hand and said, "Mitchell, we didn't mean to eavesdrop."

Mitchell's gaze lingered on Danielle for a moment before shifting to Willow.

Willow quickly nodded. "Yes, Mitchell, we really didn't mean to."

Mitchell looked at the two of them, sighed almost softly, then took out two concert tickets from his pocket and handed them over. "Here are the tickets. Have you had dinner? I'll take you two out to eat."

"No, we haven't. Can we have Mexican food?" Danielle took the tickets and put them in her backpack, then smiled at Mitchell ingratiatingly.

Mitchell turned to see Willow's eyes light up at the mention of Mexican food and nodded slightly. "Alright, let's go have Mexican food then."
