Chapter 370 Seaspring Valley City Slow Life
At night, Willow lay on the bed downstairs, unable to sleep. In the past month in Horizon City, she had basically been living in Mitchell's apartment. So, this was the first time in the past month that she hadn't slept beside Mitchell. Even though it had only been a short time, she had grown used to having him next to her at night.
Habits could be truly scary. For the first time, she had trouble falling asleep in her own bed. She wondered if Mitchell was having trouble sleeping too.
Willow tossed and turned in bed several times, finally unable to resist taking out her phone. She tentatively sent Mitchell a message on Facebook. [Mitchell...]
Up in the loft, Mitchell was also lying awake. The bed was comfortable, the sheets smelled nice, just like Willow had said during the day, with a scent of sunlight. Normally, he could fall asleep easily. Tonight, without Willow by his side, sleep eluded him. He thought about messaging her but hesitated, not wanting to wake her. So, Mitchell lay in bed, holding his phone, and opened the chat with Willow, looking at their previous conversations. When Willow's message came through, he saw it immediately and quickly replied.
Mitchell: [Why are you still awake?]
Willow: [Can't sleep.]
Mitchell: [Did you eat too much at night and have a stomach ache?]
Willow: [No, Mitchell, why aren't you asleep either?]
Mitchell: [I can't sleep either.]
In the darkness, Willow held her phone, listening to Father Nelson's snoring next door, feeling a bit nervous for no reason, like when she used to secretly read novels under the covers in school, afraid of being caught by her parents.
Willow: [Why? Is it because you're not used to it?] Willow thought he couldn't get used to the small bed in the loft.
Mitchell: [Yes, I'm not used to it because you're not here.]
Willow held her phone, staring at Mitchell's message, her heart beating faster and a foolish smile spreading across her face. It turned out she wasn't the only one having trouble sleeping.
After a while, Willow heard a very light knock on the door. She quickly rolled out of bed and ran to open it.
Mitchell, in his pajamas, with his black hair softly falling, stood outside with a smile on his lips. Willow excitedly rushed into his arms, "Mitchell, why did you come down?" Mitchell raised his hand to cover her mouth, hugged her, brought her into the room, and closed the door. "Be quiet. Don't wake up others." He paused, smiling, and held her in his arms. "I came down because I was afraid you couldn't sleep."
Although Willow was very happy, she thought about her parents sleeping next door and it wouldn't be good if they found out. "Are you going to sleep here? It would be bad if my parents found out."
Mitchell also knew they couldn't be discovered. They weren't married yet, so sleeping together was definitely not allowed. "I'll stay with you until you fall asleep, then I'll go back up." He kissed Willow's slightly pouted lips and lay down with her.
This one-and-a-half-foot bed was much smaller than the large bed in Mitchell’s apartment, and it felt a bit cramped with only one blanket.
After lying down, she felt like there was a warm furnace behind her, enveloping her. She had thought she might have more trouble falling asleep, but after lying down for a while, she felt drowsy, surrounded by a familiar scent, and closed her eyes feeling peaceful.
When Willow woke up, it was already bright outside, and the person who had been lying next to her was gone, leaving only the wrinkles on the bedsheet as evidence of someone having slept there.
She had no idea when Mitchell had left. Willow reached for her phone on the bedside table and saw that it was already 9 o'clock. How did she sleep in so late?
Willow quickly got up from the bed, opened the room door, and saw Mitchell sitting with her parents at the dining table eating breakfast. Just as she opened the door, she made eye contact with Mitchell, who was looking at her, and then she smiled foolishly.
Mother Nelson also noticed Mitchell sitting across from her, turned to look, saw Willow standing at the door in her pajamas with messy hair. She said, "You, child, you didn't even wash your face or brush your teeth or change your clothes before coming out of bed. Hurry up. Get ready and come eat breakfast. Your dad went to the university town early in the morning to buy Seaspring Valley City's special breakfast, the one you used to love."
Willow belatedly reacted and hurriedly ran into the bathroom. Mother Nelson looked at her hurried appearance, smiled affectionately, shook her head, and said, "This child never grows up."
Father Nelson, who had always spoiled Willow since she was a child, said, "It's nice like this." Mitchell, on the other hand, was eating the breakfast prepared by Father Nelson. The special pastries of Seaspring Valley City were really delicious, but his eyes were always on Willow, and he added, "Yes, it's quite nice." Father Nelson and Mother Nelson both grinned together.
Willow quickly finished washing up and changing clothes and came back out. As soon as she walked into the living room, she smelled the familiar and long-lost fragrance. "Dad, did you buy my favorite pastries from the university town?" Father Nelson had already finished eating and was sitting on a chair, happily saying, "Well, your nose is still so sharp. I just took them out. Hurry up and eat."
"Thank you, Dad." Willow sat down with a smile and started eating heartily. It was the taste she used to love, and she had already planned to bring some back when she returned to Horizon City, along with the raw materials, to make them herself. When she went back, she would invite everyone to taste the special pastries of Seaspring Valley City.
On the second day in Seaspring Valley City, Father Nelson and Mother Nelson took Willow and Mitchell hiking. There was a park nearby where they could climb the mountain and overlook the scenery of Seaspring Valley City. At the mountaintop, there was a church for prayer. After breakfast, the family set out together. Willow and Mitchell had intentionally changed into light sportswear. Mitchell wore a white tracksuit, and Willow wore a white sports outfit today. The two of them hadn't coordinated their outfits beforehand, and usually, they didn't have many white clothes.
When Willow came out in her changed clothes, she saw Mitchell also coming down from the loft in an all-white outfit. She was stunned for a moment. "How coincidental." And Mitchell, in his all-white tracksuit, looked like a college student, even younger than the real college students they had met near the university town last night.
