Chapter 374 Coming Back After Marriage
"Will the graduate come back after finishing studies?" Willow asked. Earlier, Mother Jimmy mentioned that they planned to settle abroad, so they might not come back.
"Of course, I will come back. One must contribute to the country after gaining knowledge," Jimmy said cheerfully, showing no signs of his previous gloominess. "Initially, my parents did plan to move their business abroad, not coming back in the future. This time, they agreed for me to pursue postgraduate studies abroad. I've already told them that I will return after completing my studies. They don't need to go out anymore; they are getting older and always want to come back home. At their age, why should they accompany me in my endeavors? Moreover, isn't the development of the country in need of young people like us?" Jimmy spoke with great righteousness, a true patriot.
Willow chuckled, surprised by his strong patriotism. However, everyone around her also had a strong sense of patriotism, never admiring foreign things. Perhaps it was due to the influence of growing up in a large courtyard environment with military ancestors. Matthew and Mitchell never thought about settling abroad. JK had overseas business, but as Matthew put it, it was all about earning money from foreigners to invest in their own country.
Willow smiled and gave Jimmy a thumbs up, saying, "Thumbs up to you for contributing as a future master in the country's development. Let's toast in advance." She then raised her drink on the table and clinked it with Jimmy's.
The two of them burst into unrestrained laughter. Whether it was intentional on Jimmy's part or he had genuinely recovered, after the meal, Willow felt relaxed and happy. Their interaction felt like old times. As they were almost done eating, Jimmy proactively asked, "Have you messaged Mitchell? He's assured to pick you up."
"Yes, I was just about to tell him," Willow replied, already taking out her phone to message Mitchell on Facebook and share her location. After sending the message to Mitchell, Willow continued eating, realizing there was still a lot of food left, and she didn't want it to go to waste.
She casually asked, "So, you'll only come back after the break this time?"
Jimmy raised his head with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, looking past Willow. He then said, "No need to wait for the break. I'll come back when you get married."
Willow was taken aback. It seemed like everyone assumed they were getting married as soon as she returned. Mitchell hadn't even discussed marriage with her. From the moment she arrived in the morning until now, she had heard about it countless times. Now, even Jimmy was saying it, making her feel like she was actually getting married soon.
When Mitchell approached and overheard Jimmy's words, he raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself that this guy finally showed some tact. It seemed like he had fully recovered.
Willow noticed Jimmy's gaze fixed behind her. When she turned around, her eyes met Mitchell's. Her eyes lit up as she exclaimed, "Mitchell, you're here so soon." She had only messaged him about ten minutes ago, and it was definitely not enough time for him to come from the apartment unless he hadn't gone back at all.
Mitchell pulled out a chair next to Willow and sat down, clearing his throat lightly. He explained, "There was some last-minute work at the company, so I didn't go back."
As she had suspected, Mitchell must have come directly from the company, explaining his quick arrival.
Throughout the evening, Willow's eyes remained on Mitchell, smiling and looking at him with starry eyes, a look reserved for someone she liked. Jimmy sat across from them, barely visible smile on his face, turning away. What could he do? Mitchell was such an outstanding person that everyone couldn't help but like him. Even their dormitory mates were always clamoring for his autograph.
However, one day, he would become that kind of person too.
After sitting down, Mitchell reached under the table and held Willow's hand in his, gripping it tightly as if afraid she might slip away. He turned to look at her with a charming smile.
"Mitchell, you haven't had dinner yet, right? Do you want some Pasta?" Willow asked. Considering Mitchell might have been putting in overtime at the office, she presumed he hadn't had a chance to eat. Knowing he wasn't fond of spicy fare, she contemplated ordering Pasta for him.
Mitchell shook his head and said, "Let's go back."
"Okay." Willow assumed he didn't like eating out, so she didn't insist. Since she and Jimmy had finished their meal and were planning to leave, they decided to leave first.
The three of them left the restaurant. Mitchell's car was parked at the entrance. Willow asked Jimmy if he needed a ride, but he waved it off, saying, "No need, Willow. You two go ahead. I'll ride my bike." Although Willow didn't see where his motorcycle was parked, since he declined, she didn't insist and left with Mitchell, leaving Jimmy behind as they drove off.
Jimmy stood there until the car vanished around the corner, fading from view. He softly said, "Goodbye, Willow." Then he turned and walked in the opposite direction.
Watching Jimmy standing still in the rearview mirror, Willow detected a hint of sadness in his demeanor. Mitchell, perceptive as ever, glanced back and asked, "What's wrong?" Willow snapped out of her thoughts, smiled at him, and said, "Nothing. Mitchell, what do you feel like eating when we get back?"
Mitchell kept his eyes on the road, silent for a moment as if contemplating seriously before replying, "Pastries from Seaspring Valley City." Willow couldn't help but widen her smile at his response. "Sure."
The drive back to the apartment took about half an hour. Willow kept messaging Father Nelson on Facebook about the pastry-making instructions. Once back at the apartment, she personally cooked an authentic pastry from Seaspring Valley City for Mitchell.
After serving the vermicelli, she eagerly watched as Mitchell tasted it. Lowering his head to take a bite, he looked at Willow sitting across from him, her eyes shining with anticipation. Suddenly, he wanted to tease her. Slowly chewing, he said, "This..."
"How is it? Does it taste the same as before?" Willow eagerly asked.
Mitchell chewed thoughtfully for a moment, nodded, and with a smile, said, "It's delicious."
Willow visibly relaxed, feeling proud, "It seems like I do have a knack for this."
Mitchell looked at her indulgently with a smile and then lowered his head to continue eating.
That night, Mitchell posted a story, capturing Willow's bustling figure in the kitchen and the freshly cooked pastry, with the caption, "Willow cooked authentic specialty pastries, so delicious." It garnered attention from a crowd of onlookers.
