Chapter 419 Do You Want to Go to the Wedding with Me?

The next day, Willow groggily woke up to the sound of her phone alarm. She had thought she might have trouble sleeping last night, but to her surprise, she fell asleep quickly once she lay still. With her eyes closed, she reached out to find her phone, only to find the alarm had already been turned off. She opened her eyes in a daze and saw Mitchell propped up on his arm next to her, smiling at her with bright eyes.

She immediately sat up straight, now fully awake. "Mitchell, are you awake?"

Judging by his clear eyes, she could tell he had sobered up. He sat up and nodded. "Yes."

He had actually woken up very early because he was very thirsty and got up to find some water. He felt a bit uncomfortable at first, with a slight headache, but after drinking a glass of warm water and taking a shower, he lay back down and couldn't fall asleep again. He didn't remember much about what happened after he returned to the apartment last night. He only knew that after the dinner, he had the driver take him home, and then everything was a blur.

Lying on the bed, propped up on his arm, he stared at the sleeping Willow, wondering if he might have thrown up. Although his clothes were off when he woke up, his shirt and trousers were neatly placed on the chair, clean, so he must not have thrown up. Willow must have helped him take off his clothes. He rarely blacked out, but the people he drank with last night could really hold their liquor. He wondered if she would be disgusted by his drunken state.

They both sat up. Mitchell was wearing a white tank top after his shower.

Willow blurted out, "Mitchell, did you take a shower?"

After all, he hadn't been wearing any clothes last night. Mitchell hadn't expected that to be her first question upon waking up. He nodded and said, "Yes, I felt uncomfortable waking up without having showered."

Willow understood. Someone like Mitchell, who had a bit of a cleanliness obsession, couldn't stand not showering. She offered, "I wiped you down a bit last night."

Mitchell smiled slightly and looked at her. "I know, and you also helped me take off my clothes."

"Do you remember what happened last night?" Willow asked nervously, feeling a bit guilty.

"Not really," Mitchell replied honestly.

Willow sighed in relief, happy he didn't remember her sneaky touches last night.

"Then how do you know I helped you take off your clothes?" Willow asked foolishly.

Mitchell looked at her cute, silly expression, his heart softening. He said gently, "Is there anyone else in the house besides you?"

Willow laughed foolishly. "Oh, I see."

She was startled for a moment, thinking Mitchell remembered everything.

It would be really awkward if he knew she had touched his body.

"Did anything happen last night?" Mitchell asked, guessing from her changing expressions.

"No, nothing happened," Willow quickly replied.

Mitchell took her hand. "I'll be more careful with my drinking when I go out for work dinners from now on."

Willow, thinking that this meant no more benefits in the future, quickly said, "It's understandable to drink a bit at social events."

"Don't you mind if I come home smelling like alcohol?" Mitchell asked.

"It's not like it's all the time. I don't mind," Willow said, her cheeks turning slightly red.

How could she mind? Drunk Mitchell was so well-behaved.

Aside from calling her 'honey', just like when they made love, everything else was really fun. She realized that she no longer blushed when he called her 'honey'; it seemed she had gotten used to it. Every time Mitchell, with his husky and pleasant voice, called her 'honey' in her ear, her entire being melted.

"Alright, I'll drink whenever you let me," Mitchell said meekly, looking at Willow with a doting smile.

"You don't have to go that far," Willow said softly, lowering her head. She didn't mean to be that strict.

"I like it when you are strict with me," Mitchell continued, holding her hand.

Embarrassed, Willow jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom.

Mitchell watched her back with a silly smile.

When Willow came out of the bathroom, Mitchell had already set breakfast on the table. They sat across from each other, eating breakfast.

She remembered to ask he if he had time to go to Emerald Isle City with her for a wedding. She hadn't managed to ask him last night because he was drunk.

After some hesitation, she asked, "Mitchell, do you have time early next month?"

"I have to go to Maple City at the beginning of the month. Victor needs a capable assistant to gradually take over some of his work. That way, he can eventually spend more time in Horizon City. Matthew plans to transfer someone from the domestic office, and the candidate has been decided. I'll take them over next month."

"Alright, I was going to ask if you could go to Emerald Isle City with me for my roommate's wedding," Willow said, her head down, feeling a bit disappointed.

However, she understood that Mitchell had his own work commitments. She looked up with a smile. "It's okay. Work comes first. We can meet them another time."

Mitchell felt a pang of heartache seeing her forced smile. The work trip had been decided in a meeting, and he hadn't expected it to conflict with her roommate's wedding. It was also difficult to find a replacement on short notice. Madison was pregnant, so Matthew couldn't go. Liam and Patrick were not familiar with overseas operations, making them unsuitable. He was the best candidate.

"I'll see if I can finish early and make it to Emerald Isle City by the 8th," Mitchell couldn't help but say.

"Okay." Willow immediately smiled. "But it's fine if you can't make it. Don't rush; focus on your work first." She still thought it would be better to find another time to meet her roommates.

"Alright." Mitchell nodded.

After breakfast, they went to work together. Willow decided not to tell her roommates that Mitchell might not make it to the wedding. She would tell them when she got there. After all, there was still a chance Mitchell could make it, and she was a bit hopeful.
