Chapter 286 Restoring Memories (1)
Madison turned around with excitement at the sound, only to see Matthew walking toward her, holding Quentin and Hannah by his sides. The two little ones, upon spotting Madison, broke free from their father's grip and ran into her open arms. "Mom, you're awake?" Hannah asked, her eyes filled with joy.
"Yes, I am," Madison replied, a smile on her face. "Where did you two go?" she inquired.
"Dad took us out for breakfast with Quentin, and then we visited the hospital before coming back," Hannah explained in her sweet voice. Quentin added, "Dad thought you needed rest, so we went out for a while. We weren't just playing around, Mom."
Madison gently ruffled their hair, "I know. You both are my well-behaved angels." Quentin handed Madison the breakfast he brought, "Mom, we got you breakfast. Please eat." Madison took the breakfast and embraced her two children.
Matthew approached them, his gaze fixed on the three most important people in his life. His eyes finally settled on Madison, unwilling to look away. Madison felt his intense gaze and stood up, her eyes filled with concern. "Matthew, how are you feeling? Is everything okay?" she asked, her voice filled with worry.
Matthew stood there, his lips moving, but no words came out. A long silence followed, with him just looking at her, his eyes seemingly holding a thousand unspoken words. Worried by his silence, Madison reached out and held his arm, "What's wrong? Did the doctor say something?" she asked cautiously, fearing the worst. Her mind raced, wondering if the concussion had worsened or if there were new complications.
Suddenly, Matthew stepped forward and embraced Madison tightly, his heart filled with love. "Darling, you've been through a lot," he said, his voice filled with emotion. Madison hugged him back, thinking his check-up might be a problem. She asked, "What did the doctor say?"
Matthew let go of her, his eyes and lips forming a smile, "The doctor said I'm fine." Madison looked up at Matthew, her face filled with confusion. She asked, "Really? The doctor said I'm fine? What about the previous concussion? Is it more serious?" Matthew took her hand, "It's all good now."
The family walked back to the ward together. "We can leave the hospital at any time. Quentin is fine, too. Let's finish breakfast and go through the discharge procedures," Matthew suggested. Madison nodded, "Okay." She continued to eat her sandwich, lost in her thoughts.
Hannah, her daughter, asked, "Mom, is it delicious? But Dad said your pancakes are the best. I think so, too. Your pancakes are the best." Madison smiled and asked them where they had been in the morning. In her sweet voice, Hannah described everything they saw during their outing.
While Madison had breakfast, Matthew packed their things. He had gone out with Hannah to eat and pick up their belongings from the hotel. The hospital was not far, just a short taxi ride away. After finishing her breakfast, Madison still felt uneasy. She said, "Matthew, I'm still worried. I'll go and talk to the doctor again. Your injury was serious. You probably don't remember. The last time, the doctor said the blood clot in your brain was putting pressure on your nerves. What if they didn't check it properly this time, and it gets worse?" She prepared to go out and find the doctor to inquire about the situation.
Matthew grabbed her arm and stopped her. Madison kept talking, "I'll be back soon, Matthew. You go ahead with the discharge procedures." She tried to free her arm and leave. Matthew held her tightly, "Darling, the doctor said I'm fine. I'm already better."
Madison looked at Matthew, unable to believe it. She asked, "Are you really okay?" Matthew nodded vigorously, "Yes, I'm fine. I'm already better."
Madison stared at Matthew for a while, her head tilted in thought. She looked at Matthew, who was smiling at her, and recalled his words - "I'm already better." Could it be... Madison tried to control her excited emotions and asked in a trembling voice, "Matthew, did I understand that correctly?" Seeing the excitement in her eyes, Matthew couldn't bear to tease her anymore. He nodded vigorously, "Yes, darling, everything is fine."
