Chapter 538 Rachel and Nicholas' Wedding
On October 1st, Rachel and Nicholas's wedding took place as scheduled.
The wedding venue was at the resort developed by Nicholas's company, right next to Madison and Nicholas's hometown. When it first opened, everyone went there to have fun, and now it had been fully developed, looking even more beautiful and comfortable than before. It had become a local tourist landmark.
The outdoor lawn wedding was very innovative, a decision made by Rachel and Nicholas together. Both wanted a relaxed and simple wedding ceremony, so they decided on a lawn and buffet-style wedding.
Since Nicholas's hometown was nearby, many of his relatives and friends attended. Kids ran across the lawn, their laughter echoing through the air.. Next to the wedding lawn was a children's playground, which was reserved for the wedding day and open for free to the wedding guests. The children attending the wedding were extremely happy, and the place was filled with their laughter.
Rachel had been in Horizon City since college, and over the years, she had many classmates and friends invited to the wedding. Although only the closest family members from her hometown, Frostpine, came, the number of guests from the bride's side was no less than the groom's.
Before the wedding in Horizon City, the couple also held a small wedding in Frostpine, mainly to entertain Rachel's family and friends. After discussing with Esme, they decided to have a small wedding banquet in Frostpine, considering not everyone would be willing to travel all the way to Horizon City.
The wedding banquet in Frostpine was small but very ceremonious, following traditional wedding customs.
Rachel wore a wedding dress and held the ceremony in her village.
The dinner was held in a large courtyard, with almost the entire village helping out. The chef was Rachel's uncle, who ran a small restaurant in town and closed it specifically to help with the wedding.
The family was all smiles. Rachel, in her wedding dress, sat on her bed in her room, which Esme had decorated before they arrived.
Above the bed was a large wedding photo of Rachel and Nicholas, which her mother had printed and hung up.
Rachel saw the newly decorated room upon her return, unaware that Esme had specially tidied and decorated it.
The wedding photo above the bed was also chosen and printed by Esme.
Rachel smiled at the photo, silently marveling at the tacit understanding between her and her mother.
The room was filled with red and gold balloons, showcasing a mother's meticulous love for her daughter.
Rachel sat by the bed as Esme brought in a bowl of soup, asking her to eat something to fill her stomach since the bride and groom would eat later.
Rachel quickly finished the soup and said, "Mom, thank you ."
The words made Esme to tears. As she saw her daughter in a wedding dress, the reality of Rachel's upcoming marriage finally hit her.
She turned away to hide her tears from Rachel.
"It's not hard. Your aunt and others came to help. I can't remember everything by myself; I'm getting old," Esme sighed.
Rachel hugged Esme. "Mom, come live with me in Horizon City. I'm worried about you getting older."
Esme didn't immediately agree. "I was born and raised here. I wouldn't get used to Horizon City. Besides, your father is still here; I need to stay with him."
"But..." Rachel wanted to persuade her, but Esme interrupted. "I can still eat and move around. There's a long way to go. When you have kids, I can come help you take care of them."
"Okay," Rachel replied, smiling happily.
She looked out the window and saw Nicholas busy in the yard with her uncle and other relatives, feeling warm and lucky.
At their wedding in Horizon City, Madison's family of five attended. Quentin and Hannah were the flower children, dressed adorably like a little prince and princess.
The night before the wedding, Madison mysteriously took Rachel out to sign the paperwork for transferring a house.
Rachel was stunned when she found out and, after shaking off her reverie and returning to her senses, refused to accept such an expensive gift. How could she accept a house worth millions of dollars?
"Madison, I know your intentions and that you care for me, but I really can't accept this. It's too valuable. I can't sign this," Rachel insisted.
Madison pretended to be angry. "If you know my intentions, then accept it. I'll be mad if you don't. It doesn't matter how much it's worth. It's useful."
"I honestly can't. It's not just a few grand. It's too valuable," Rachel persisted, and they were at an impasse.
Finally, Madison took Rachel's license and went to complete the paperwork.
Rachel said helplessly, "Madison, I really can't take this house."
"You must. I'm on your side. This is my support for you. Although I know Nicholas well enough to believe he wouldn't cheat, this is my support for you," Madison said seriously, then playfully winked. "And it was Matthew's idea, so don't feel burdened."
Rachel hugged Madison. "Thank you, Madison."
Willow and Mitchell were also there to celebrate.
Rachel had attended Willow's wedding before, so it was only natural for them to return the favor.
However, she didn't invite the others, but they all came uninvited, bringing gifts and joining the wedding. For Matthew and Mitchell attended, and everyone had met Rachel and Nicholas several times
Hearing it was held at a resort, everyone was excited and arrived a day early to stay at the resort. They were planning to have a vacation after the wedding.
