Chapter 333 So That's How It Is

Mitchell's wrist tightly held Willow, explaining, "I was afraid you had something to do." Mitchell suddenly stopped. Willow didn't brake and bumped into his chest. Mitchell quickly lowered his head to check, "Are you okay? Where did you hit? Does it hurt a lot?" The expression on his face was both anxious and distressed.

Willow gently shook her head, smiled at Mitchell, and said, "It's okay, not painful." Seeing Mitchell's anxious expression, her slight doubt in her heart also dissipated. What about Laura? Mitchell chose her, and now she was Mitchell's girlfriend. What was there to be afraid of?

Seeing her smile, Mitchell finally relaxed, looking at her affectionately, "Isn't the most important thing for me to wait for you to come up?" After speaking, he couldn't help but remind her, "Be careful when walking next time."

"Okay." Willow obediently nodded, and the two walked back to the office hand in hand.

Laura watched the two holding hands and walking into the office as if she wasn't surprised at all, as if she had known it all along. She had indeed guessed it early on. When Mitchell announced it on Stories, she saw the hand-holding photo first. She didn't recognize Willow's hand like Madison did; she just knew it was Willow at a glance. It was obvious at the company's entrance that Mitchell had brought someone over temporarily to deceive her. At that time, they probably hadn't started dating yet. When they did, he couldn't wait to post on Stories. This was something she hadn't expected. Mitchell actually posted such a personal Stories. Scrolling back through his account, it was all company news until that Stories caused a big stir. It was indeed true love.

She had seen early on that Mitchell liked Willow, and Willow probably had some interest in Mitchell as well. She just couldn't figure out why they hadn't gotten together initially. So when Mitchell made the announcement, she was certain it was Willow, and she was very sure it was Willow.

Willow saw her sitting on the sofa, feeling a bit embarrassed, wanting to break free from the arm, but Mitchell held her tightly, pulling her to sit on the sofa opposite Laura.

Laura raised her red lips, looking at the two in front of her, and deliberately said, "What's this? Can't wait to show affection in front of your ex-girlfriend?" Mitchell immediately frowned and retorted, "Ex-girlfriend? We never even dated, okay." Willow, on the side, was stunned. She had never asked Mitchell about his relationship with Laura and was unwilling to face it. Now, hearing Mitchell show off, they hadn't dated? What was going on?

Laura's smile faded, "So anxious to distance yourself from me? Afraid someone will get jealous?" Willow blushed and lowered her head, listening to Laura continue, "Didn't we really kiss? A pretend girlfriend isn't a girlfriend." She said it confidently.

Although Willow didn't understand the reason, she understood that Mitchell and she had never been together; it was all pretend. She couldn't help but feel happy.

Listening to Laura's unreasonable words, Mitchell furrowed his brow, not knowing how to explain. He could only hold Willow's hand tightly, fearing she would misunderstand. He regretted cooperating with her; she had no credibility.

Seeing Mitchell's worried and cautious expression, Laura burst out laughing. Although there was a bit of bitterness in her heart, it quickly passed. This kind of man was not what she pursued, nor was he someone she could win over. With a wife, she had grown up with by her side, who could compete? Mitchell was always cold and professional with other women, but with Willow, besides caring for her like a sister, there was that restrained affection, and he was trying hard to restrain it.

Forget it. She couldn't give up all the outstanding and handsome men for a man who didn't love her. After this project was over, she would go abroad for a few more years while her parents were still young. She could enjoy a few more years of freedom now; otherwise, if she stayed in the country, she would probably have to go on blind dates every day.

"Why are you both so nervous?" Laura said with a smile, then looked at Willow's gentle and shy appearance, "Originally, I wanted to tease you both a bit, but I can't imitate the kind you like. Anyway, losing me is your loss."

"So, what brings you here today?" Mitchell asked.

"Of course, it's business. Last time, you promised me five points, trying to back out?" Laura directly took out the prepared agreement from her bag and handed it to Mitchell. If she didn't take the money, she couldn't leave empty-handed.

Mitchell took the document, glanced at it, and quickly signed his name, "Done." This was a clear dismissal. If Laura didn't understand, she would be clueless in the business world. She put the signed document in her bag, then stood up, waved to the two, "Thanks, Mr. Jonah. Bye, Willow." Then, she elegantly walked out of Mitchell's office in high heels.

After Laura left, the office suddenly quieted down.

"Mitchell…"

"Willow…"

Both spoke at the same time, then smiled at each other. Mitchell held both of Willow's hands and said, "You go first." Willow paused and said, "Mitchell, you go first." Mitchell seemed to have guessed what she wanted to ask and began to explain, from the blind date with Laura to how they cooperated to deal with the pressure from both parents, detailing every dinner they had and where they went.

Willow listened attentively, understanding that Mitchell had never been with Laura. Even if they had been together before, it was in the past, and she had no reason to dwell on it. She was genuinely happy.

Finally, Mitchell said, somewhat aggrieved, "I always thought the person you liked was your college classmate, and I'm so much older than you. You're so young, with so many opportunities." Before he could finish, Willow leaned in and kissed him. Mitchell was stunned for a moment, then reached out to hold the back of her head as she tried to pull back. He turned the passive situation into an active one, deepening the kiss, and it became more intense. Willow was pressed down on the sofa by him.
