Chapter 495 Christmas Eve 2

In Horizon City, on Christmas Eve, Quentin and Hannah woke up early, buzzing with excitement as they trailed behind Tristan.

Madison and Matthew were also up early.

Even though Valerie was busy prepping Christmas dinner, Madison, despite being heavily pregnant, wanted to help. Matthew, worried about her, stayed close by.

Tristan, who had never married, always spent New Year's with William, his long-time companion.

Valerie's son had moved abroad years ago, leaving her without close family in the country. So, she always celebrated Christmas with the Nelsons.

Valerie started prepping ingredients early in the morning. Breakfast was already a feast, and Quentin and Hannah never stopped munching on snacks and fruits from the moment they woke up.

Since it was Christmas, Madison let them indulge without scolding.

In Horizon City, the tradition is to set off fireworks before Christmas dinner, then eat as soon as it's ready. Because everyone had been snacking all day, dinner at the Nelson Mansion started around six. The table was loaded with a sumptuous spread. Valerie's cooking was always abundant, but the festive atmosphere made it even better. With Quentin and Hannah around, the dinner table was filled with laughter.

William brought out his treasured wine and drank with Matthew. They were both in high spirits and drank quite a bit since they were at home. If it weren't for William's age and the doctor's advice to limit his drinking, they might have finished the whole bottle.

After dinner, Quentin and Hannah couldn't wait to set off fireworks in the garden.

William, having had some wine and food, was taken back to his room to rest by Tristan at Matthew's request.

Madison, not one for staying up late, played in the garden with Quentin and Hannah for a while before starting to yawn. Matthew took her back to her room to rest. After making sure she was asleep, he rejoined Quentin and Hannah for the fireworks.

There were no special activities, and the family didn't go out, but this was the most peaceful and happiest Christmas for Matthew. The people he loved and who loved him were all around, having Christmas dinner together, and he could share a drink with William. That was enough. Watching Quentin and Hannah joyfully setting off fireworks, he couldn't help but smile.

Willow's parents arrived at the Nelson Mansion the day before Christmas to have a meal with William.

Willow and Mitchell also came along. Since they were having Christmas dinner at Mitchell's house, they came a day early. Lloyd and Patricia brought a lot of wild mushrooms and other specialties from Seaspring Valley for Madison.

Mitchell's house had the most people for Christmas dinner. Usually, it was just the four of them, but this year, Willow, Lloyd, and Patricia filled all the chairs. The four elders prepared the Christmas dinner, while Danielle and Mitchell decorated the place.

Willow was the most idle since no one let her do anything, especially Mitchell. When she got up to go to the bathroom, Mitchell nervously stood up and asked what she was doing.

Willow, both amused and exasperated, said, "Honey, I'm really fine. Don't be so nervous."

"Do you remember last time you were pregnant and ended up fainting and going to the hospital?" Mitchell said seriously.

Willow stuck out her tongue playfully and muttered, "That was a special case. I really did the pregnancy test last time, and it didn't show up."

"Just sit and rest. If you need anything, tell me, and I'll do it," Mitchell ordered.

"I need to go to the bathroom," Willow said, blushing as she stood up.

Mitchell cleared his throat. "I'll go with you and wait outside the door." He then stood up and followed her.

Willow quickly pushed him back onto the sofa. "Really, it's not necessary." She then puffed her cheeks and quickly walked to the bathroom.

Mitchell hurried after her, worriedly saying, "Be careful. What if you fall or bump into something?"

In the end, he waited outside the bathroom door until Willow came out safely. Seeing her puffed-up face, he softly coaxed, "Honey, don't be mad. I'm just worried about you. The last time really scared me. Please don't be mad, okay? If the baby knows, they'll blame Daddy for making Mommy angry and won't like Daddy anymore."

Mitchell's words became more and more exaggerated, making Willow laugh. She quickly interrupted him, "I'm not mad anymore!"

Mitchell smiled and secretly kissed her cheek, just as Danielle walked in and saw them. She dramatically covered her eyes, turned around, and shouted, "I didn't see anything. You two continue."

Willow playfully glared at Mitchell and said, "It's all your fault. Danielle saw us."

Mitchell hugged her and smiled, "Danielle said she didn't see anything." He then held her hand and led her to the living room. After they sat on the sofa, Mitchell started peeling fruit for her, soon handing it to Willow to eat.

Danielle watched them and couldn't help but click her tongue. She never expected Mitchell to be like this after getting married. It was almost unbearable to watch. Who would have thought he used to have such a cold persona?

As the saying goes, "Many hands make light work." The Jonah Family's Christmas dinner perfectly exemplified this. With both parents preparing the meal together, it was ready by five o'clock.

Except for Willow, who couldn't drink because she was pregnant, everyone else had a bit of alcohol. The moms and Danielle had red wine, each having a glass, while the dads and Mitchell had white wine. Only Mitchell wasn't fully drunk in the end, as the dads drank a lot, enjoying the rare opportunity to drink together and getting quite merry.

After Christmas dinner, Mitchell took Willow and Danielle out for a walk. The moms stayed behind to take care of the dads and clean up the house.

The riverside was bustling tonight, with many young people out and about. Several boats were leisurely sailing on the river.

The lights were dazzling, creating an extremely romantic atmosphere.
