Chapter 329 Getting Ready for a Surprise
Mother Jonah couldn't wait to bring out a box at the dining table as everyone sat down. Inside was a sparkling and translucent bracelet, clearly of considerable value. She smiled and handed it to Willow, "Willow, this was left to me by Mitchell's grandmother. Our Jonah Family has passed down these bracelets for several generations. This one, Auntie is giving to you now, and the other one will be given to her when Daniel gets married."
"Mom, why not give both to Willow? I doubt I'll ever find a partner," Daniel said nonchalantly from the side.
Mother Jonah gave him a stern look, "I also thought Mitchell would end up lonely like that, not finding a partner even in his thirties. But look, he found one now. Why don't you learn something from him?" Daniel muttered under his breath, "Not everyone can meet someone like Willow as Mitchell did." Before Mother Jonah could say more, Father Jonah interrupted, "All right, Daniel is doing fine now, about to get married, and you're already reluctant to let go."
"You spoil her. You're the one who can't let go," Mother Jonah retorted to Father Jonah. Daniel playfully stuck out his tongue. Mother Jonah ignored them, quickly changing her expression to a smile and turning to Willow, "Ignore them, Willow. Keep the bracelet safe, and let's eat." Willow was unsure whether to accept such a precious gift.
Sitting beside her, Mitchell took it from her and placed it properly, "Thank you, Mom." Willow watched his actions, and Mitchell gave her a reassuring look. Only then did she turn back to Mother Jonah, "Thank you, Auntie."
"All right, eat more, pick what you like," Mother Jonah said, then turned to Mitchell, "Mitchell, check if Willow's parents are available soon. I'll visit with your dad to meet them." Willow almost choked at this, and Mitchell gently patted her back, handing her a glass of water.
After recovering, she realized she hadn't told her parents yet. Her father and mother were both former professors in the History Department, always on archaeological expeditions when she was young. When they retired, Willow was already in college. Her parents settled in Seaspring Valley City, and with them away again, she hadn't had the chance to tell them about her boyfriend.
Mitchell seemed to understand her thoughts and answered Mother Jonah on her behalf, "Mom, Uncle, and Aunt have been away recently. If there's a visit, I should go first. Once they agree, we can arrange a meeting." Father Jonah chimed in, "Yes, Mitchell, you should personally visit your future in-laws. We'll have a meal together and discuss everything." Willow, still a bit confused, thought it was just a meal, but now it seemed to be progressing quickly. Glancing at the man beside her, she found comfort in his calm demeanor. She knew that she could trust Mitchell unconditionally from the moment they were together. He would take care of everything, and she just needed to follow his lead.
On Monday, a few brothers stayed back after the meeting at the top floor meeting room of JK Group headquarters. Patrick, leaning back in his chair with his legs on the table, was engrossed in his phone, clearly gaming. "Liam, why haven't you been online lately? I haven't seen you in days," he remarked.
"I thought I was as free as you," Liam replied, lightly tapping Patrick with a folder. "Look at how busy we are. You're the only one with time to play games. Seems like Matthew hasn't given you enough work." Liam then turned to Matthew, who was sitting in the chairman's seat, "Matthew, Patrick thinks he's too free. Give him more tasks."
Looking up from the pile of documents, Matthew, with a serious and even slightly uncomfortable expression, turned to Patrick, "I do have something to assign to him." Patrick's phone slipped from his hand in surprise, and everyone looked at Matthew, curious about the task he had for Patrick.
Patrick picked up his phone, nervously asking, "Matthew, wh...what task is it? I'm not going to Africa, am I?"
Matthew raised his head, observing Patrick's uncertain expression, wondering if he should entrust this task to him, "Help me find a suitable place for a proposal."
"Matthew? Who's proposing? You're already married. If you're not good to Madison, I won't talk to you anymore," Patrick said firmly.
"Idiot," Matthew couldn't help but curse while Mitchell and Liam struggled to hold back their laughter.
"Patrick, Matthew is definitely planning to propose to Madison," Liam said. Though he didn't understand why, he was sure it was only Madison for Matthew.
"But they're already married, right?" Patrick was puzzled. If they were already married, why propose again?
Mitchell also had some doubts. Matthew and Madison were already married, so why propose again? In the midst of everyone's confusion, Matthew explained that he planned to give Madison a grand wedding, starting from the proposal, to make up for past regrets. This event had to be kept secret, ensuring Madison wouldn't find out beforehand.
"No problem, Matthew. Leave it to me. I'll find an extremely romantic place that Madison will love. This feels a bit thrilling. Matthew is planning a surprise for Madison. I'm so excited," Patrick couldn't contain his enthusiasm.
Mitchell and Liam raised their eyebrows, surprised by Matthew's romantic side. Love truly was great and mysterious, enough to change a person...
If you love someone, you willingly change for them. Matthew, who once disdained formalities, had changed everything for Madison.
Patrick spent the day eating, drinking, and playing games, not quite understanding the magic of love, just following the excitement. On the other hand, Mitchell and Liam thought of that special someone, sharing a knowing smile when their eyes met.
