Chapter 319 Returning to Horizon City Together
After organizing the file bag, Matthew opened the door of the file room. Victor saw him coming out and hurried over, "Matthew." Matthew nodded slightly at him, the tacit understanding between brothers, and Victor didn't ask much. Hank didn't say anything, either. Having been undercover in the K Group for so many years, he already knew that those targeted by the K Group would not have a good ending. Matthew must have come on this trip just to seek a conclusion to the truth he had been investigating for so many years, a truth he already knew and one that wouldn't be easy to accept.
The three of them walked out of the detective division building in silence and returned to the hotel together. After returning to the hotel, Matthew called Madison into the room.
At this time, Madison was at the old house with two children. After dinner, they were playing in the garden while she was drawing design drafts in the room. When she saw Matthew's call, she couldn't wait to answer the phone.
"Matthew."
Matthew remained silent for a moment before gently asking, "Have you had dinner? Where are Quentin and Hannah?"
Madison immediately sensed something was off but didn't expose it immediately. She tried to answer his question as cheerfully as possible, "We've eaten. Valerie cooked tonight. It was delicious. I'll cook for you when you come back. I've already learned some cooking tips from Valerie tonight. In the garden, Quentin and Hannah are playing with Grandpa and Uncle Tristan."
Listening to Madison's gentle voice talking about the family, Matthew's suppressed mood from coming out of the file room finally dissipated a bit. The reason for his parents' deaths had finally been resolved after so many years, and he should be happy. He had ensured that the criminals received their due punishment. He now had a happy family, a wonderful wife, and two adorable children. His parents would surely be happy for him.
"All right, whatever my wife cooks is delicious." Matthew finally said with a slight smile.
Madison heard that Matthew's voice was no longer as suppressed and low as before, which put her at ease. It seemed like Rome was not in harmony with their family. Even though her brother and Victor were there, she still had some worries.
Although Matthew had just left for two days, Madison felt like they had been apart for a long time. Unable to resist, she proactively asked when he would be back, "So when are you coming back to eat?"
Looking out at the bustling street, listening to Madison's voice, Matthew's mood gradually calmed down. "I'll be back tomorrow." Madison almost jumped out of her seat when she heard this, clearly excited, "Really? Have you bought the ticket? I'll come pick you up."
Matthew quickly reassured her, saying, "Not yet, I'll buy it in a bit. You don't need to come pick me up. Just wait for me at home." Matthew couldn't bear to let his wife come to pick him up. Madison didn't drive much now, and her skills were average. He feared any accidents and didn't want her to come.
Madison didn't insist and decided to stay at home to cook for him, waiting for him to come back. "Okay, we'll wait for you at home."
"Goodnight, rest well, don't stay up too late drawing." Matthew glanced at the time. It was already late at night in the country, and it was time to rest and sleep.
"Got it, I'll rest soon," Madison replied happily.
After hanging up the phone, Madison went downstairs to find the two little ones, ready to get them washed up and put to bed. They would return to the villa early the next morning, waiting for Matthew to come home.
After hanging up the phone, Matthew went to talk to Hank and Victor about their return. Since the matter was resolved, Hank also planned to return to Emerald Isle City, and Victor was responsible for overseas business, so he was always on the move and didn't travel with them. Matthew thought for a moment and said to Hank, "How many days off did you take? Do you want to go to Horizon City together?"
Hank was happy to agree. Since he still had two days off, he decided to go to Horizon City to see Madison and the two little ones before returning to Emerald Isle City. It was a perfect timing. They bought two tickets together, and the following day, the two of them returned to Horizon City.
Madison didn't know that Hank was also coming back, so when she opened the door and saw the two standing there, she was so excited that she rushed over and hugged Hank, expressing her surprise and disbelief, "Why didn't you guys tell me in advance!"
Hank was choked by her hug and pretended to be out of breath, "Madison, let go first, let go. If you don't let go, Matthew will kill me." Madison let go, laughing and saying, "Matthew is not that kind of person, right?" Then she looked at Matthew, "Right, Matthew?"
Matthew awkwardly turned his face away, coughed lightly, "I'm not that petty," and then walked into the house.
Quentin and Hannah heard Matthew's voice and ran downstairs from the room where they were playing with toys.
The two of them ran down, one after the other, and threw themselves into Matthew's arms, sweetly calling out, "Dad, you're back." Matthew lifted his daughter up, and the gloom on his face disappeared. "Did you miss me?"
Hannah kissed Matthew and said sweetly, "Of course I missed you. Hannah couldn't sleep thinking about Dad." This made Matthew very happy.
Quentin looked up at Matthew and also said, "Dad, I missed you too." Matthew squatted down to eye level with Quentin, patted his head, and said with a smile, "Good boy."
Hank followed Matthew into the house, listening to the words of the two little ones competing for attention, and smiled as he said, "You only think of Dad. Don't you care about your uncle?"
Quentin and Hannah saw that Hank had also come, so they rushed to him, shouting, "Uncle, you're here too."
Hank happily hugged one of them in each arm, saying, "I came because I missed you."
Hannah also kissed Hank and said, "Uncle probably doesn't miss me as much as I miss him. I dreamt of Uncle last night."
"Really? Who else was in the dream besides Uncle?" Hank laughed heartily.
Hannah blinked her big eyes, tilted her head, and began to count seriously, "There were Dad, Mom, Brother, Grandpa, Grandma, Great-grandfather, Auntie, Godmother..." The little one almost listed everyone around her.
Hank couldn't help but laugh even louder, "Hannah's dreams are really lively."
