Chapter 480 Staying Overnight at the Hospital
The doctor continued, "You might be a bit tired recently, and with the pregnancy, that's why you fainted. Just make sure to rest when you get home. From what I can see, you should be around 12 weeks pregnant. Stay in the hospital tonight, and if everything looks good after the check-up tomorrow, you can be discharged."
Mitchell only heard the word 'pregnant'. Willow was pregnant, his wife was pregnant. The immense joy hit him in the chest, and he staggered back a few steps, his eyes even redder than before.
Elizabeth, standing behind him, was a bit scared seeing him like this. She thought she would feel relieved once Mitchell arrived, and wasn't this the best news that Willow was pregnant? Why did it seem like Mitchell was about to faint too? She mentally screamed for help, unsure if she needed to call for more assistance.
"Mr. Jonah, are you okay?" Elizabeth cautiously asked, standing beside him and extending her hand slightly behind him, afraid he might fall backwards. She was hesitating whether to call their manager when she heard the nurse's voice.
Mitchell stood there in a daze until the nurse brought Willow out, snapping him back to reality.
The nurse called out, "Who is Willow's family member? You can go handle the admission procedures now, and then the patient can go directly to the ward to rest."
"Mr. Jonah, you go check on Willow. I'll handle the admission procedures," Elizabeth said, seeing that Mitchell was too excited. She quickly ran to handle the paperwork. Luckily, she had Willow's bag with her, and she had seen the ID card inside when she took out the phone earlier.
Mitchell quickly rushed to the nurse, looking at Willow lying on the bed with her eyes closed as if she were asleep. His hands trembled with heartache, unsure where to touch her.
Finally, he gently stroked her face and asked the nurse, "Nurse, why hasn't my wife woken up yet?"
The nurse smiled softly and said, "She woke up inside earlier, but she probably fell asleep again during the check-up. She's just too tired. Quickly finish the paperwork and get her to the ward to rest."
Mitchell sighed in relief, feeling both heartache and guilt. He had been busy lately and hadn't had time to cook for her. He couldn't help but wonder what Willow had been eating when she lived alone before.
The hospital wasn't crowded at night, and Elizabeth quickly finished the paperwork. The two of them pushed Willow to the ward together.
Elizabeth, being quite clever, directly requested a private room. Mitchell definitely wouldn't be going home tonight, and a private room would be more convenient. After all, they weren't short on money.
After pushing the bed into the ward, he carefully lifted Willow onto the hospital bed, gently covered her with a blanket, and then followed Elizabeth out of the room.
Elizabeth handed Willow's bag to Mitchell. She remarked, "Mr. Jonah, I'll head back now. Take care of Willow greatly."
Luckily, Mitchell arrived quickly, everything was done by eleven o'clock. The hospital was closer to Elizabeth's place than the company, and it was easy to get a cab here.
Mitchell took Willow's bag and said solemnly, "Thank you, you've worked hard today."
He then transferred the pre-paid hospital fees to Elizabeth before turning back into the ward.
Willow lay on the bed with her eyes closed, sleeping soundly. Mitchell went to the hospital's small shop to buy toiletries, brought back hot water to wipe her face, and after a simple wash, he sat by the bed to keep watch.
Mitchell was full of tenderness at this moment. Willow was pregnant; they were going to have a baby. Neither of them had noticed. There was also a slight sense of fear. He would need to ask the doctor about precautions tomorrow.
He sat by the bed, holding Willow's hand, staring at her for a long time. There was a bed for family members in the room, but he didn't rest. The scare had sobered him up completely from the little bit of alcohol he had drunk earlier. He eventually fell asleep with his head resting on the bed.
The next day, Willow woke up early. She slowly opened her eyes and found herself in the hospital. She recalled the moments before she fainted yesterday and waking up briefly during the doctor's examination before falling back asleep. She turned her head and saw Mitchell sleeping with his head on the bed. Elizabeth must have contacted him.
Why was Mitchell sleeping like this when there was a bed beside him?
Willow felt a pang of heartache for him. She moved slightly, gently pulling her hand away, preparing to sit up. As soon as she moved her hand, Mitchell woke up.
He lifted his bloodshot eyes, looking a bit haggard, with dark circles under his eyes. Despite spending the night in the hospital, he still looked clean and fresh.
Seeing Willow awake, he quickly stood up and hoarsely asked, "Honey, you're awake. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
He then adjusted the bed so she could sit up.
She smiled and shook her head, saying, "I'm fine. I don't know why I suddenly fainted. I made you worry."
Mitchell looked at her with a smile, holding her hand and staring into her eyes. He gently explained, "Honey, we have a baby. You're pregnant."
Willow's eyes widened in shock. She was pregnant!
She had tested before and it was negative, so she didn't pay attention to it. Now they were telling her she had a baby! It was such a pleasant surprise, like finding something that was lost.
"Really? Do we really have a baby?" she said, her voice trembling, as she lowered her head and placed a hand on her belly, still in disbelief.
Mitchell smiled gently at her, nodding seriously. He confirmed, "It's true. You're going to be a mom."
Willow looked up and threw herself into his arms, and they hugged tightly.
After calming down, only joy remained.
Mitchell said with guilt, "I've been too busy lately and haven't taken care of your meals and rest. Starting today, take a leave from work. Don't worry about the company. I'll call the doctor to check on you again, and then we'll go home."
Willow's face was filled with happiness, and she said apologetically, "It's my fault for not paying attention. I tested after my period was late, and it was negative, so I didn't think much of it."
"Why didn't you tell me? It's also my fault for not noticing," Mitchell said.
"I wanted to surprise you, but it turned into a scare," Willow said playfully, sticking out her tongue.
Mitchell reached out and tapped her nose.
He was really scared when he heard Elizabeth say Willow was in the hospital on the phone yesterday.
