Chapter 465 So It Was

Nicholas directly took the drunken Rachel back to his apartment. After they confirmed their relationship, he had suggested that she move in with him, but she had politely declined. He still remembered Rachel saying, "If we live together every day, you might discover my flaws and stop liking me. It's better to keep some distance, right?"

Nicholas didn't insist at the time, just smiled and said, "Alright, I'll listen to you."

However, he still felt a bit disappointed. After all, he had never had a girlfriend before and didn't know if he was doing his part well enough. He was in the startup phase of his business, sometimes very busy and often traveling.

He thought it was fine if Rachel got used to not moving in. Maybe she noticed his disappointment, so even though she didn't officially move in, they were often together when he wasn't traveling. When they had time, they would buy groceries and cook; if not, they would eat out together.

Sometimes, after dinner at home, they would watch a movie together, and if it got too late, she would stay over at his place. However it was just staying over, not even chatting under the same blanket, because they didn't share the same bed.

When she stayed over, she usually slept in the big bed while he slept on the sofa. The first time, they argued about who should sleep on the sofa, but she eventually lost the argument. So, later on, they both agreed on who would sleep on the sofa.

Since their first unexpected encounter, they hadn't gone further than holding hands and kissing during their relationship. Because the first time happened under such circumstances, Nicholas was always worried that she might have other thoughts and was afraid of scaring her. So he restrained himself and didn't make any impulsive moves.

However, Nicholas was thinking about marriage, but he wasn't sure if Rachel felt the same way. Sometimes, he felt like he couldn't grasp what she was thinking.

Nicholas carried the drunken Rachel back home, placed her on the big bed in the room, changed her into pajamas, and brought a basin of hot water to wipe her down before covering her with a blanket. Despite all this, she didn't wake up.

She only opened her confused eyes halfway through, looked at Nicholas, and he thought she had woken up. Just as he was about to speak, she closed her eyes again, mumbled something incoherent, and fell back asleep.

Nicholas stood by the bed with a towel, smiled at her as she laid there, and then took the basin and towel to the bathroom to take a shower. When he came out after his shower, he heard Rachel lying on the bed with her eyes closed, saying she was thirsty. Nicholas quickly poured her a glass of warm water, gently helped her sit up, and fed her the water.

Rachel, with her eyes closed, leaned against Nicholas's chest, drank half a glass of water in one go, and then shook her head.

Nicholas gently laid her back down, still a bit worried, so he didn't go to sleep on the sofa. His room had a big bed, and there was plenty of space next to Rachel, so he lay down beside her and eventually fell asleep too.

Rachel slept until the next morning. She woke up with a bad headache. She tried to sit up but felt weak and lay back down.

It was cold, and it was comfortable to stay under the blanket. She didn't notice that here was someone lying next to her and turned over to go back to sleep. After closing her eyes for a few seconds, she opened them again, seeing Nicholas's face up close. She couldn't help but widen her eyes, her mind went blank in confusion. Did she sleep with Nicholas again last night?

She looked down at her clothes, which were not the ones she wore to the wedding but pajamas. Did they really have sex again? She moved slightly, trying hard to recall last night's events but had no memory and didn't feel anything.

Did she get so drunk that she felt nothing? The first time, they were both drunk, but she still felt something and had some memory. This time, she had no memory at all.

They had been in a relationship for a while now, and she didn't mind such things. But it seemed as though Nicholas hadn't expressed such intentions before. As a girl, she couldn't take the initiative, so they haven't done it again since their first unexpected intercourse. Rachel felt a bit disappointed. Why didn't she feel anything this time?

She couldn't help but think about their first unexpected encounter.

She swore that she never thought she would have a romantic relationship with Nicholas before that fateful day. She genuinely saw him as her own brother. When she first met him, she knew he had special feelings for Madison.

She could tell that he liked Madison at first glance. Later, when Madison got back together with Matthew, she always felt a bit sorry for Nicholas and couldn't help but pay attention to his situation.

Before she knew Quentin and Hannah's father was Matthew, she thought Madison and Nicholas were a good match. At that time, Madison didn't want to talk about Matthew, and she even thought it would be nice if they were to end up together.

Later, when she found out Quentin and Hannah's father was Matthew and saw Matthew's possessiveness towards Madison, she knew Nicholas had no chance. Even then, she had no improper thoughts about Nicholas.

After Madison and Matthew got back together, Nicholas still came to see her often. She thought Nicholas wanted to ask about Madison. She felt even more sympathetic towards Nicholas while talking to him.

At some point, Nicholas stopped asking about Madison and started asking about her. Although she found it strange, she still honestly talked about her own things. Later, she felt she had become somewhat dependent on Nicholas. When she didn't receive his messages, she felt empty, and when she did, she was happy all day.

She realized Nicholas had become special to her.

When Matthew had an accident, Madison went to the Y Country to find him, leaving Quentin and Hannah in her care. Nicholas knew she was alone and came over every day to help with the kids. He did more than she did and was more meticulous.

She was happy to see Nicholas every day but also felt a bit disappointed assuming that he was only being attentive because Quentin and Hannah were Madison's kids.

She remembered clearly that it was a Friday night. Quentin and Hannah had been taken to Nelson Mansion by William. When Nicholas came over with a big bag of groceries, she realized she had forgotten to tell him about it.

Rachel apologized to him, "Sorry, Nicholas, Quentin and Hannah went with William. We don't need to cook tonight."

Nicholas, holding a big bag of food, smiled charmingly as he looked at her. Rachel always felt that she completely fell for him because of that beautiful smile that night.
