Chapter 464 Everyone Wants to Take Marriage Leave
As usual, Monday morning was the president's office meeting at JK Group.
Typically, a few of them would meet first to finalize key tasks before gathering the senior executives from various departments for a work report.
Today, Matthew, Victor, Liam and Patrick were all present.
Patrick had been quite busy lately. After Matthew got married, Mitchell took over his work, but now that Mitchell was also married, he, like Matthew, was rarely seen in the office.
This led to a significant increase in Patrick's workload, leaving him so busy that he no longer had time to go out and have fun.
Patrick was the last to arrive at the conference room, walking in just on time. As soon as he sat down, Matthew opened his folder and said, "Let's start the meeting."
"Matthew, Mitchell isn't here yet. Shouldn't we wait for him?" Patrick hurriedly asked, feeling a bit strange. Usually, apart from him, the others were very punctual, often arriving ten minutes early to wait in the conference room, especially Mitchell, who was never late.
What was going on today? Newlyweds really were different; even Mitchell was late for work and meetings.
Patrick couldn't help but cover his mouth and laugh, feeling secretly pleased that Mitchell was late for once. But then Matthew doused his excitement.
Matthew paused, seeing Patrick's confused face, and continued, "Mitchell isn't attending today's meeting."
Puzzled, Patrick asked, "Why? What's wrong with Mitchell? Is he feeling unwell? On a business trip? Oh, I know, he overslept, that must be it."
He guessed many possibilities but missed the most obvious one.
The others looked at Patrick as if he were an idiot.
Liam even turned his face away, not wanting to deal with him.
Matthew lifted his eyes and calmly added, "Mitchell is on his honeymoon."
"What?" Patrick stood up, raising his voice.
"Honeymoon?! When did our company start giving honeymoon leave?" he looked at others and asked loudly.
Liam shrugged, indicating he had just found out, while Victor kept his head down, looking at the report, uninterested in the question.
Matthew didn't even lift his head and said indifferently, "We are a legitimate company, of course, we have honeymoon leave. Is that strange? If you get married, I'll approve it for you too, and even give you an extra ten days."
Killing with words, hitting the nail on the head, Patrick couldn't refute a single word. After all, getting married was quite a challenge for him.
"Honeymoon leave, plus an extra ten days. I wonder if Ophelia has any thoughts on this," Liam tilted his head as he thought aloud, seriously considering the matter.
"How many days off in total with the extra ten days?" Victor, with his head down, was also thinking about it.
Did everyone want honeymoon leave now?
"What's so great about getting married? Victor and Liam aren't married yet," with this said, Patrick offended two people at once. He felt the glares from Victor and Liam, quickly sat down, and kept quiet.
Internally, he was very frustrated. He couldn't believe Mitchell was on a honeymoon with Willow. He didn't even know how many days of leave they had.
His tough days weren't over yet. Maybe he should just go on a blind date, find someone he clicks with, get married, and take a honeymoon leave. It actually sounded pretty good.
Everyone in the company was still quite busy and preoccupied.
Mitchell took Willow to Frostpine, Rachel's hometown, where Madison had lived with her two kids for over three years.
However, they didn't go to the city but to a county under Frostpine, a cultural village. Mitchell had accidentally seen a travel blogger's guide online, with many beautiful photos, which made him decide to choose this place for their domestic honeymoon.
Willow on the other hand was attracted by the words 'cultural village.'
Madison was thrilled to know they were going to Frostpine. If she wasn't pregnant, she might have gone with them. When she got married, Auntie couldn't come over because she was worried about her farm. Madison also planned to visit after the baby was born, around six months old.
Rachel had been dating Nicholas for over half a year, even longer than Willow and Mitchell. No one knew what their future plans were.
Auntie had subtly inquired about it during a phone call, saying Rachel only shared the good news but never mentioned the bad ones. She had taken all the responsibility for the family.
Madison didn't say much but reassured Auntie that Rachel, being an adult, surely had plans.
With Willow getting married, Madison was a bit anxious for the two of them. Over half a year and they hadn't met the parents yet. Rachel had always been too independent, handling everything herself. Madison genuinely hoped they could settle down soon.
On Willow's wedding day, Rachel went early with Madison to help. Nicholas arrived halfway through the evening banquet. They didn't stay until the end of the event, leaving around the same time Madison took Quentin and Hannah upstairs to rest.
Rachel had drunk quite a bit that day. By the time Nicholas arrived, she was already half-drunk. Seeing her tipsy state, Nicholas was slightly taken aback because he had only seen her drunk once before, and he wasn't sober either.
Nicholas found Rachel in the banquet hall and sat next to her. They had talked on the phone earlier, and Nicholas had said he would be late because he had just returned from a business trip. Rachel had told him work was more important and it was okay if he couldn't make it, but he still rushed over after finishing his work.
Seeing Rachel tipsy, Nicholas was secretly glad he made it.
Later, when the Mitchell and Willow came to toast, Rachel drank some more and eventually got really drunk. So, after Matthew and Madison left, Nicholas bid goodbye to Mitchell and Willow and took Rachel home.
When Rachel was drunk, she was extremely docile, letting Nicholas hold her quietly, not making a fuss, completely different from her usual sharp and capable self.
Nicholas looked at the person in his arms and smiled slightly. Maybe this was her true self, just that early independence had taught her to disguise herself, always showing another side to people.
How lucky he was to see her vulnerable side. Everything was so beautiful.
