Chapter 278 Who Says I Don't Have a Girlfriend

Jimmy woke up at noon the next day, finding only the dorm head around. Feeling parched, he sat on the edge of his bed and downed a whole bottle of water to ease his discomfort.

"Who brought me back last night?" Jimmy inquired, seeking confirmation, as he had a faint recollection.

The dorm head engrossed in a book and still wearing glasses, replied briefly, "Some guy."

Jimmy couldn't help but curse under his breath. He had lost the game last night, underestimating the person's capacity for alcohol and ending up drunk himself.

He dialed Willow's number, relieved when she answered. "Willow, where are you? Thanks for bringing me back," Jimmy asked tentatively.

Willow was having lunch in the pantry, opting for a light meal after indulging in shrimp and barbecue the previous day. "I'm at work. You're awake? Feeling better?" Willow inquired, concerned about Jimmy's condition after his heavy drinking.

"I'm fine. I don't usually drink," Jimmy explained, hoping to maintain a good impression.

"I can tell," Willow teased. Jimmy stood on the balcony, listening to Willow's laughter over the phone, his lips curling involuntarily.

"Next time, let me pay. Don't argue with me," Jimmy said, still feeling a bit uneasy about not settling the bill.

"Sure, I'll bring Daniel and the others along next time," Willow suggested, hinting at a group gathering. Jimmy understood her intention and simply replied, "Okay."

After hanging up, Jimmy stood on the balcony, watching students pass by in pairs. He stared blankly at a tree by the roadside, lost in thought.

A notification from Facebook caught his attention. It was a message from his mother. "Son, your father has arranged everything for your study abroad. Check when your research project in the country will end, and come over then," the message read.

Jimmy felt a wave of frustration. While his parents had planned for him to study abroad after completing his undergraduate studies, he now had second thoughts. He considered pursuing his graduate studies at the local university instead. However, he hadn't figured out how to break the news to his parents, knowing they wouldn't approve.

Willow had been slacking off for two days, and her manager assigned her a new project. She had just signed the contract and needed to work on the proposal, so she was busy again. She ended up working an extra hour before finally leaving the office.

Except for Matthew and Mitchell, who were workaholics, the entertainment department was one of the last to leave. After all, those in the entertainment industry had irregular schedules, and the lights were still on in their departments.

Willow took the elevator to the ground floor, planning to grab dinner before heading home. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw two familiar figures at the entrance.

It was Mitchell and Laura.

The two of them were standing at the entrance, engaged in a conversation. Willow couldn't help but feel that it was incredibly unlucky to run into them every time she went out. She would have to plan her outings more carefully in the future.

Willow felt a bit awkward. If she walked out, she would have to pass by them, and they would definitely see her. But if she stayed inside, her growling stomach would give her away, and who knew how long they would continue talking outside.

After a moment of hesitation, Willow decided that food was more important. She braced herself and walked out, intentionally staying close to the door, hoping to minimize her presence.

Just as she walked past them, she overheard Laura's excited voice, "Why can't I pursue you? You don't have a girlfriend. Maybe you'll realize how great I am if we're together. You and the person you like have never been together. How do you know you're compatible?"

Willow was shocked by Laura's confident declaration. Was this the influence of long-term exposure to Western culture? She was so brave. Willow kept moving to the side, trying to get out, but accidentally bumped into the glass door, catching the attention of the two people who were talking.

Mitchell and Laura both turned to look at Willow. Willow stood there, stunned for several seconds, before awkwardly raising her hand and saying, "Hello."

Mitchell looked at Willow's dumbfounded expression, his face filled with tenderness, completely different from his expression when facing Laura just now. He turned to Laura and said, "Who said I don't have a girlfriend." With that, he pulled Willow into his arms and, with a slight smile, introduced her, "This is my girlfriend."

Willow hadn't fully processed what was happening. She felt her shoulder being held by a warm hand, and her mind was filled with one thought. "This is my girlfriend... my girlfriend..."

Laura's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at the two of them. "When did you two start dating?"

Mitchell furrowed his brows, clearly a little upset, "That's none of your business."

"How is it, not my business? Who knows if you two are deceiving me," Laura angrily questioned. She couldn't believe that these two had not honestly expressed their feelings for each other all these years and were suddenly together.

After snapping out of her daze, Willow could only smile foolishly at Laura, feeling like a complete bystander, not knowing what to do. Mitchell had pulled her out suddenly, probably for the girl he liked. Willow couldn't help but admire Laura's insight. She could see through Mitchell's impromptu act.

Mitchell pursed his lips, and his other hand suddenly wrapped around Willow's waist. With a spin, he leaned down, bringing their heads closer.

The sudden turn of events made Willow's heart race as if it was about to burst out. Her eyes widened as she watched Mitchell's face getting closer and closer. She was so scared that she closed her eyes.

Seeing that the two were about to kiss, Laura screamed in anger, "Ah..." and then turned around and ran away.
