Chapter 104 The Hand under the Table
A graceful figure appeared in the private room of The Vintage Mirror.
A faint scent of incense calmed the mind.
Luann took a few sips of tea, and her chaotic thoughts settled.
Holly entered through the door.
Her butt barely touched the sofa.
Luann said, "Last night, Myron confessed to me."
Holly almost gasped for breath.
"I was just about to ask you about the cufflinks matter."
"So, did you accept his confession?"
Luann shook her head.
Holly sighed in relief, "That's good, that's good. If you had accepted, your big brother would have definitely come rushing in, ready for a battle with Myron."
"..."
"So, you called me over because you were afraid that the two of you dining together would be awkward?"
Luann calmly replied, "His younger brother's company had some problems a while ago, and I helped him out."
"Now that his issues are resolved, he wants to take me out for dinner."
"Myron is jealous and insisted on coming along."
Holly suddenly realized, "Oh, I see. Don't worry, I'm great at livening up the atmosphere. No matter how awkward the situation is, I can handle it for you."
Luann's eyelids twitched.
"Yes, I can see that you're good at acting."
"I was even planning to help you get in touch with some connections so that you could act in a couple of plays and make some money."
Holly grabbed her arm.
"What money? Aren't you supporting me?"
"If you like, I'll act just for you."
"So that I don't have to show my face outside, you must be worried about me."
Luann withdrew her hand with an expressionless face, "You're overthinking it. I really don't worry about you."
"No, it's impossible. Women love to say the opposite. When you say you don't worry, it actually means you do!" Holly hooked her arm again.
The door to the private room creaked open.
Eddy looked at the two of them with a complex expression on his face.
"Am I unnecessary here?"
Luann was slightly surprised, "Why did you come?"
"It seems like I'm not welcome. Excuse me."
Eddy turned to leave.
Holly quickly ran over and grabbed his sleeve.
"Don't go, come, sit."
"Hehe, the more the merrier."
Soon, Myron and Alvin also arrived.
"Wow, fresh meat is here”
"Haha!"
As soon as Holly saw Alvin, she immediately stood up excitedly and rushed over to greet him.
Eddy frowned and whispered, "Why doesn't she react like this when she sees me?"
Luann calmly replied, "Probably because you're too old."
"Don't women like men who are a bit older and more mature?"
Luann's eyes scanned him from head to toe, her almond eyes filled with a faint confusion.
"You barely have anything in common with the word 'old.'"
Eddy's self-esteem was hurt, and he couldn't help but complain to Myron.
"Your wife is bullying me."
Myron was pouring hot water into a bowl, calmly and deliberately neutralizing the situation.
"Well, she's doing a good job of it."
"?"
This guy is hopeless!
Watching Myron's complicated actions, Eddy sarcastically quipped,
"You might as well starve!"
"All the dishes at The Vintage Mirror are disposable, you can just throw them away after using... "
Before the sentence was finished, Myron had already sterilized a complete set of utensils and placed them in front of Luann.
Eddy abruptly stopped talking.
Like he hadn't said anything.
Luann didn't expect Myron to do this and felt a little embarrassed, despite her surprise.
"Thank you."
The dishes quickly arrived one by one.
Myron used the public chopsticks to serve Luann dish by dish.
Luann coughed lightly and lowered her voice, "No one has started eating yet, isn't it a bit inappropriate for you to do this?"
Myron's voice was clear and composed, "I'll pay, what's wrong with that?"
"Alright, alright, that's enough, I have enough to eat." Luann couldn't help but interject.
But Myron didn't seem to have any intention of stopping.
Seeing the empty spaces on the plates being filled up, Luann reached down with her left hand to pinch Myron's thigh.
But before she could touch him, her fingers were gripped by his distinct knuckles.
Preventing her from causing any trouble.
Luann's pupils shrank and she tried to pull her hand back, but it was futile.
"Let go..."
Myron remained calm, gripping her with his left hand while continuing to use his right hand to pick up food with the chopsticks.
"You'll get a cramp in your arm if you keep doing that." Luann enunciated each word.
After thinking about it, Myron released his grip, setting down his chopsticks and letting go with his right hand.
The next moment, Luann's hand was empty.
Before she could retract it, Myron changed hands and gripped her hand again.
Myron remained composed, picking up the chopsticks with his left hand and smoothly continuing to serve the food.
Luann was dumbfounded.
Not just her, everyone at the table was astounded.
Alvin awkwardly scratched his head, "Bro, this isn't really appropriate, we're all single guys here."
Holly leaned closer, "If you want, I can find you a girlfriend right away!"
Facing Holly's gaze that seemed to devour him, Alvin silently moved to a seat next to him.
Too scary.
He needed to make a quick escape.
Eddy silently ate his food, but his gaze remained fixed on Holly.
This woman wouldn't happen to have set her eyes on Alvin, right?
A plate of prawns was served.
Myron casually picked a few with tongs and then put on gloves to peel them for Luann.
Holly's face was full of envy.
"That's so nice."
"I also want a man who can peel prawns for me wherever we are!"
A shrimp landed in her bowl.
Holly glanced sideways.
Eddy, with lowered brows and eyes, was peeling with earnestness but clumsiness.
"Your mouth is never shut when you eat."
With an "oh," Holly put the shrimp in her mouth and no longer envied others.
Alvin silently gazed at the four of them, his mind momentarily in a daze.
Wasn't today the gathering he organized?
Why, at this moment, did he feel like a complete outsider?
"Um..."
Before he could speak, Myron's warning gaze swept over.
"Sister-in-law..."
Alvin stood up, took a glass of wine, and poured it for Luann.
"I toast to you."
Before lifting the glass, Myron's slender fingers were already at the bottom.
"For what reason should we toast?"
Alvin awkwardly smiled.
When Luann gave him the design plans and helped him overcome the company difficulties, she specifically urged him not to tell anyone.
So, he hadn't mentioned it to anyone until now.
"A toast to the enduring love between my brother and sister-in-law..." Alvin reluctantly said.
Myron nodded slightly and finished the wine in his glass.
Luann furrowed her delicate brows, slightly displeased.
She poured another glass.
But before she could take it, Myron finished it again.
"If you like to drink for me so much, then finish this whole bottle." Luann pushed the bottle toward him, her words laced with provocation.
Holly's heart fluttered a bit.
Regardless of whether Luann or Myron got drunk tonight, the result in bed would be the same.
