Chapter 340 Greedy
Luann couldn't wait for Holly's reply,so she called her directly.
"Holly, are you okay?"
Holly touched her reddened neck, not wanting to make Luann worried, and laughed lightly, "If something happened to me, would I still be able to message you? It's just that Williams popped up out of nowhere, sitting in my living room late at night, and scared me! But I guess he already knows about you and Myron."
She paused and then continued, "Luann, what are you going to do?"
Williams wasn't here with good intentions.
Holly had already experienced that.
There was a long silence on the other end of the line as Luann contemplated her response. She murmured, "Williams came over, but why didn't Adolph inform us?"
Holly scratched her head and said, "Oh right! Maybe he doesn't know about it?"
Luann bit her lip lightly.
Adolph had always been on her side and was also opposed to Williams pursuing her.
Ever since she left Unionia and Williams was sent on a mission, Adolph had been keeping an eye on his movements from time to time.
'Logically speaking,Williams leaving his previous position and coming to the Upper West Side, Adolph couldn't possibly not know.'Luann thought.
The only possibility is...
"Let's hang up for now."
Luann hung up on Holly and dialed Adolph's number.
No answer.
She called Benjamin.
No answer either.
Luann took a deep breath, her fingers hovering over Williams's number for a moment. She hesitated for a while and was about to call him when she received a message from Williams.
He seemed to know what she was thinking.
[He's fine.]
Although he didn't mention any names, they both knew exactly who he was referring to.
Luann frowned and quickly replied: [Since you're here, let's meet.]
[I don't want to see you right now.]
Luann raised her delicate eyebrows.
Williams sent another message: [Is he good to you?]
"What the heck," Luann muttered softly, not wanting to respond to his question.
However, a hand reached out from behind and easily took her phone.
Before Luann could react, Myron spoke into the phone.
"Don't worry, I will take good care of my wife."
After saying that, he handed the phone back to Luann.
And that voice message had already been sent.
Luann gave Myron a thumbs up.
Myron snorted lightly, his cold eyes filled with a hint of mockery.
"A coward who doesn't even dare to show his face, nothing to be afraid of."
The sky outside was so gloomy that it looked like it was about to pour.
When Luann woke up, the curtains were already open, but the sky outside looked like it was covered with a layer of haze.
She took out her silenced phone and saw that it was already ten o'clock.
There were numerous missed calls and messages from Mike and Juliet, all asking when she could bring the money over.
Luann slowly replied: [What's the rush? Just wait.]
The moment she sent the message, the phone rang.
"Luann!" Mike's voice was filled with indescribable urgency. "You promised me! Are you going back on your word?"
"How could I?" Luann's voice was lazy and meaningful, "I've got it all ready."
"How much!"
Luann hummed, "Dad, don't say our father-daughter relationship is weak because I've prepared a hundred million for you."
"A hundred million?" Mike gasped.
Even Juliet couldn't stay calm.
"Then come over quickly! I even prepared your favorite dishes!" Mike's excitement was almost uncontrollable. "Do you need me to send a driver to pick you up?"
"No need."
Upon saying, Luann hung up the phone.
Meanwhile, Mike was not angry at her abrupt disconnection. Instead, he happily paced around the house.
He slammed his right fist into his left palm, unable to hide the smile on his face.
"Luann still has some decency left, knowing to show some respect to me!"
Juliet glanced at Mike and snorted lightly.
Mike quickly reassured her, "Don't worry. I won't keep this money for myself."
"The fake hospital report was arranged by you. I remember your help!"
Juliet shook her head gently, playfully scolding.
"Dad, how could I mean that?"
"I just think, Luann is too casual in dealing with you."
Mike frowned in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
Juliet's words was like a sharp knife, easily piercing Mike's vulnerabilities.
"If I had ten billion, I would definitely give you nine billion to show my respect!"
"Actually, Luann can sell a painting for over a billion."
"Through the interview report, we learned that she can earn that much money in just a few hours."
"But to her own family, she's stingy and miserly!"
"You think a hundred million is a lot, but to Luann, it might be like losing a dollar or two. She wouldn't even care."
Mike fell into deep thought.
Seeing his expression, Juliet's lips curled up.
'She won't get off easy,' Juliet thought. 'I'll make sure to extract as much money as possible from Luann.'
"Four years ago, you brought Luann back to the Weaver family, providing for her."
"But what happened in the end?"
"A person worth billions or more, yet she wouldn't even give five million!"
"How ruthless Luann's heart is!"
Mike's face had already turned angry.
He slammed his hand on the table, causing the tea to spill.
"Exactly!"
"If it weren't for the company's financial problems, I wouldn't have thought about marrying into the Curtis family to fill the company's hole!"
"But Luann didn't care, not mentioning her wealth!"
"Only when I wanted her to marry Myron did she get anxious. The she said she'll pay the five million." Juliet said.
Seeing the emotions were in place, Juliet quickly calmed Mike down.
"Dad, don't be angry."
"We both know what kind of person Luann is."
"We've been so selfless to her, trying to bring her back into the Weaver family, but she keeps avoiding us."
Mike's face was stern, the wrinkles at his eyes seemed deeper.
"Alright, I know what to do."
Juliet nodded and continued, "Now we just need to get more from Luann. So even if the company goes bankrupt, we won't have to worry. Once we get the money, we'll cut ties with Luann!"
