Chapter 345 Lies Become Truth

Mike's heart suddenly felt like it was being squeezed hard.

He almost passed out from anger because of Luann.

"Luann!" he roared loudly

Luann looked flustered. "Dad, calm down. You'll make yourself sicker and die sooner. The doctor said you don't have much time left. As your daughter, I need to help you prepare. I've already arranged with a funeral home. Don't worry. I'll invite all the important people from the Upper West Side to your send-off!"

Mike's hand trembled as he pointed at her. He repeatedly said, "You…”

He gasped for air, struggling to breathe.

Juliet cried out, "Dad! Are you okay? Luann, why are you doing this? Why are you provoking him?"

Luann shrugged. "How am I provoking him? He didn't even react when he heard he was going to die. What's wrong with what I'm doing? Should we wait until he's dead to start preparing?"

Juliet was momentarily speechless. "But you can't just say it so bluntly. How is he supposed to accept this? Talking about cemeteries is too much!"

With a flash of insight, Luann playfully fiddled with her hair. "Does Dad not like the cemetery? I can arrange for a coffin instead. We have oak and walnut ones. You can choose."

Mike's teeth clashed, and his body shook violently. "Get out of here!"

Luann stood up gracefully, her smile bright and charming.

Mike's face turned pale, and he started coughing violently. He spat out blood, which splattered on the floor.

Juliet covered her mouth in disbelief, her voice trembling. "Dad, are you okay? Luann, are you trying to kill him with anger? Why are you so cruel?"

Luann said calmly, "Don't blame me. If he's coughing up blood, he should get a gastroscopy at the hospital. Early treatment, early recovery."

Juliet fell silent.

Luann waved cheerfully at Juliet and turned to leave.

Meanwhile, Mike collapsed to the floor, eyes closed.

Juliet panicked, grabbing her phone and calling Wilber. "Wilber, where are you? Hurry over, Dad fainted from anger because of Luann!"

Wilber's heart skipped a beat. "I'll be right there! Call an ambulance first!"

"Okay."

Half an hour later, Wilber and Juliet met at the hospital.

Although Wilber had been discharged, he hadn't fully recovered, his face still pale. "What happened?"

Juliet cried uncontrollably and roughly recounted what had happened, leaving out the part about her and Mike's scheme. "Luann went crazy and bought a cemetery plot for Dad, but he's not even that old yet. She's cursing him."

Wilber was immediately furious. "How could she do that? Uncle Mike is still her father!"

Juliet leaned into Wilber's arms, wiping her tears on his shirt.

After what felt like forever, the emergency room door finally opened.

"Where are the patient's family members?"

Juliet and Wilber rushed forward.

"He's out of danger now. Come to my office in ten minutes."

"Okay."

In the office, the doctor said calmly, "We suspect the patient might have stomach cancer."

Juliet and Wilber were stunned. "How is that possible? Doctor, you must be mistaken. My dad's always been healthy!"

The nurse handed over the gastroscopy images.

The doctor looked at the results. "We can confirm it now. With signs of bleeding, why didn't you take him to the hospital earlier?"

Juliet felt like her ears were ringing, murmuring, "This must be a joke."

She suddenly stood up. "Did Luann bribe you? Are you lying to us on purpose?"

The doctor gave her a strange look.

Wilber felt embarrassed and cleared his throat. "Juliet, calm down."

How could she calm down? They had just used this excuse to try to get money from Luann, and now it was actually true?

Juliet's mind suddenly recalled Luann's words: "Be careful what you speak out because it might come true."

The wind blew through Luann's long hair. She rested her arm on the lowered car window and leaned her head on it, staring blankly at the passing scenery.

"What are you thinking about?"

Since leaving the Weaver Family, Luann had been a bit distracted.

Luann said softly, "I just find them interesting, going to such lengths to get money from me. The Wright Family was doing so well back then, but Mike squandered it for over twenty years and still isn't satisfied."

Myron casually said, "Greedy and insatiable."

Luann responded with a muffled sound. She suddenly changed the topic. "Did you meet with Williams?"

Otherwise, he wouldn't have switched cars to pick her up.

Myron nodded.

When they got home, Luann took a quick shower and lay down to rest. When she woke up, she saw a barrage of messages from Juliet, who even called her.

"Luann! Dad is really in trouble!"

"Okay."

"This time it's real! Really! You need to send money now! If you don't, Dad won't last much longer!"

Luann chuckled. "Juliet, have you heard of the story 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf'?"

Juliet screamed angrily, "You knew we were lying to you! You were playing along with us! But, Luann, if you could find out the truth, then you must know I'm not lying this time!"

Her words were becoming incoherent.

"Dad is really sick! The Weaver Family is out of money. You can't just stand by and do nothing, right? I'm begging you. After all, he's your biological father. You can't be so cruel."

Luann let out a low laugh. "Cruel? Speaking of cruelty, who could be more cruel than him? Juliet, you know what? I almost didn't make it into this world. My mom and grandpa both died because of him. Not killing him with my own hands is already the greatest mercy I can show him. You, who have never experienced such pain, have no right to plead for him in front of me."
