Chapter 324 Hung High

Ross hit the ground hard, his face scraping against the frigid tiles. A shiver ran through his body as he contemplated the myriad ways his life could end in that very moment. Desperate to cling to any semblance of hope, he pleaded, "Are you robbing me? I can give you money! Whatever you want, I'll give it to you!"
The driver bent over, looking at him with a smile, "Are you playing dumb? Open your eyes and look at this villa with that decor. Does it look like someone who lacks money could live here?"

Ross's heart sank. A name appeared before his eyes: Myron Curtis!
A noise sounded from the entrance, and the driver quickly turned around, expecting to see Myron. However, it was Eddy who walked in.
"Mr. Nash." The driver glanced behind him and smiled obsequiously, "Mr. Curtis didn't come, did he." He had wanted to show off in front of Myron.

Eddy yawned, holding a waffle in his hand. "Myron is at home with Luann, why would he come here? Besides, for such a small matter, does he need to come personally?" he said, opening the bag and taking a big bite. "Alright, stop dawdling, hurry up. I need to go back and report."

The driver responded with a sound and walked towards Ross.

Fear gripped Ross's face as he pushed himself against the ground, attempting to retreat. "What are you doing? What do you want? Stay away! Killing someone is illegal! If I go missing or die, do you think the school will let you off?"
The driver struck Ross across the face, a powerful blow, devoid of mercy. Ross's mouth filled with blood. "Stay still! Stop shouting! If you utter one more word, I'll cut out your tongue!"
Eddy chuckled, stepped forward, and kicked the small bag slung across Ross's body. "You have your phone , right?" Ross kept his mouth shut, his eyes wide open.

"You want to leave the Upper West Side and you probably already informed your principal. Let me guess. Are you leaving for a week, half a month, or a month?"

Ross swallowed hard, panic evident in his eyes. "I suppose you need to avoid any suspicion for at least a month, right?" Eddy sneered. "Since you've already provided us with an excuse and a way out, what do we have to worry about? If we don't take action, your month-long vacation will go to waste. But don't worry, we're good people. We won't stoop to killing."

Ross stammered, "What do you want?"

Eddy didn't answer him but gave the driver a look. The driver immediately grabbed Ross by the collar and dragged him upstairs.

"Where are you going?" Eddy stopped him. The driver was puzzled. " Aren't we going to the top floor?"

"This villa only has a few floors. Isn't there an abandoned building next door? Let's go there and take a look."

The driver immediately understood, "Got it!"

The rusty elevator creaked open, and they stepped inside. The elevator halted on the twenty-eighth floor. The driver pushed Ross forward.
His steps were unsteady. Each step was taken with effort, trying to grip the ground with his toes to buy some time. Eddy walked to the window in the stairwell where the window had been removed and looked back.

"What are you dawdling for? It's just a short distance. Can't you even manage that?"

The driver looked helpless, "This guy isn't cooperating!"

"If he doesn't cooperate, break his legs. We only need to make sure he is alive, even is his life hangs a thread." Eddy's charming eyes narrowed as he spoke nonchalantly.

Ross immediately found his footing. "I'll walk! I'll walk! Just don't break my legs!"

The height of twenty-eight floors looked terrifying. Having nearly been thrown off by Myron last time made Ross dizzy. The unbearable memory surged, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.

Eddy tilted his head and suddenly asked, "Do you have a heart condition?"

Ross's lips trembled, unable to speak.

"Well, I guess that's a redundant question. If you had a heart condition, you'd be dead by now," Eddy's smile turned sinister. "Ross, you better enjoy this."
Before Ross could react, he was kicked hard on the butt.

Caught off guard, he flipped out of the window, falling straight down!

The feeling of weightlessness and the rapidly passing scenery seemed to announce the end of his life.

A scream like a slaughtered pig echoed outside the dilapidated building.

Just when Ross thought he would be smashed into a pulp, a strong force stopped his fall, bouncing him up a few times before he finally came to a halt.

He was hanging in mid-air, suspended at the fourteenth floor! The other end of the rope was tied to the twenty-eighth floor!

Eddy glanced down and clicked his tongue, "It's pretty high."

"Just let him hang there."

"Oh, and remember to feed him every day. Don't let him die."

Ross tensed up, frozen with fear. He didn't dare to make the slightest movement, terrified that the rope might snap and send him plummeting to his demise. His heart pounded in his chest like a jackhammer, threatening to burst out of his throat any second.

Gasping for air, his throat felt like it was being sliced by knives. In that moment, he regretted everything.

If he had the chance to do it all over again, he would never have dared to provoke Myron and Luann.
His phone buzzed twice.

Myron opened it to see a message from Eddy.

[The task is completed.]

Myron gently tried to get up, carefully moving Luann, who was cuddling him. Still asleep, Luann seemed displeased and clung to him again, holding him tightly.

Myron grabbed the small teddy bear from the bedside and placed it in her arms. Only then did he manage to get up.

After washing up, he opened the door to find John waiting outside.

In a low voice, John said, "Emma is here."

"Alright."

Myron glanced at the time. It was only eight o'clock. Emma had come early.

Hearing the sound of footsteps coming downstairs, Emma quickly put down Luann's snacks and stood up, bowing at a ninety-degree angle towards the stairs.

"Good morning, Luann!"

The footsteps stopped abruptly.

A cold voice sounded, "After all, I am your brother-in-law."

"No need for such a big bow."

Emma looked up in surprise.

"Myron, you're cheating! Where's Luann?"

Myron's face was expressionless.

"Stop dreaming."

"From now on, I am your teacher."

"I won't give you any more chances to be alone with Luann."

Emma fell silent.
