Chapter162 Fighting Fire with Fire

The pungent odor erupted immediately.
The onlookers instinctively stepped back.
Jenny caught the full blast, the burning spray hitting her straight in the face and eyes, eliciting a painful shriek as she clawed wildly toward Emma.

"Emma, you bitch! My eyes! It hurts so much!"
Luann Weaver easily pulled Emma out of the way.
With her eyes forced shut, Jenny didn't see the obstacle underfoot. She stumbled and fell hard onto the ground, struggling to get up.
After spraying, Emma immediately regretted her action, biting her lip, her youthful face filled with nervous anxiety as she asked Luann,
"She's... she's not going to be hurt, is she...?"
Luann replied nonchalantly,
"It's just a lesson, she'll be fine."
"Let's go."
Luann led Emma away.

Before leaving, she scanned the onlookers who were recording them.
Her gaze carried a clear warning.
"If word about the Curtis family hits the internet, you'll all be accountable," Luann Weaver warned, her face recognized by everyone. Under the Curtis family's pressure, they scrubbed the video from the web without a trace.

Stepping out of the mall, Emma was visibly distressed. She seemed on the verge of speaking multiple times, anxiety radiating from her in waves.

"What's the matter?" Luann inquired, noticing Emma's dismayed expression, her usual vibrancy all but extinguished.

"Jenny is my classmate... and she's related to the Whites," Emma said with a heavy heart. "Back when I lived on campus, my dad would constantly remind me to avoid any direct confrontation with her."

The mere thought of Jenny’s tantrums was enough to give Emma a headache. The Whites were one of the prominent families of the Upper West Side, logically, they shouldn't be able to push her around.

Yet her parents were always embroiled in business, pinning all their hopes on Joshua. Her elder sister had already made a name for herself in their circles. As for Emma, she was still in school, somewhat left to her own devices.

After a moment of silence, Luann reassured her, "Don't worry, she wouldn't dare do anything to you."

Emma murmured an acknowledgment and gave a hesitant nod. She wasn't exactly on good terms with Luann, having only just met her. It wasn't like she could shamelessly ask Luann for help.

"You have school today, right? It’s Thursday, where is it? I’ll give you a ride."

Emma shook her head, "No need, I can get back on my own."

Luann flagged down a taxi and handed Emma her wallet.

"Huh? When did I drop this...?" Emma said, embarrassed as she accepted it, then hesitantly pulled out some cash to return to Luann.

"Sorry, I lied. I actually did have money on me..."

With a resigned smile as she opened the taxi door, Luann said, "It's fine, get in. We don't need to be so formal with each other."

On her way back to school, Emma felt uneasy. Her mind wandered during afternoon classes, and she was distracted.

After school, as she packed her bag and slung it over her shoulder, ready to head back to her off-campus residence, she couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following her. But every time she looked back, no one was there.

However, at the corner of the street stood a group of three guys and three girls, led by a red-eyed Jenny, her sparkling eyes dimmed and blinking uncomfortably in the wind.

"That wretch, even after getting caught, had the nerve to pepper spray me in a panic!" Jenny cried out.
"If I hadn't rushed to the hospital quickly, I might have lost my eyesight!"

The people around her tried to calm her down, "Jenny, don't be mad. We'll get back at them for you."

"Yeah, let's show them what we're made of!"

"But isn't she from the Curtis family? Can we actually touch her?"

Jenny's face twisted with disdain, "So what if she is? She's not the favorite, and her parents don't even care about her."

"Yeah, but her sister is a leading celebrity..."

Jenny crossed her arms, unfazed, "What does it matter? When they shoot a film, they're gone for months. The last time I saw Grace was already last year."

"Don't worry about it. If anything goes wrong, I'll take full responsibility."

"I've had it with Emma for a while now. It was bad enough when she snagged Lionel, but now she has the audacity to openly challenge me."

"If she had just stayed put and kept her head down, maybe I would've let her off the hook."

The young woman by Jenny's side, from a modest family, had been sucking up to Jenny, eager to stay in her good graces.

She was always ready with a mischievous idea, too.

"Jenny, I think... if we're going to make a move, we should go hard!"

"Lionel likes Emma, right? How about we kidnap Emma, let the guys have a little fun, and film some videos to show Lionel? That’ll make us feel much better than just beating her up!"

Jenny's eyes darkened as she met the girl's gaze, "Not a bad idea..."

"Yup, I think it's pretty solid too."

A sudden voice startled everyone.

They turned in unison, tense and anxious.

"Who's there?!"

"Show yourself!"

Luann Weaver strolled out from around the corner, her lithe figure leaning casually against the cold wall, looking nonchalant with stormy depths churning in her normally clear black eyes.

"Is that you?!" Jenny glared viciously at Luann.

When she had first seen Luann, Jenny only thought she looked familiar, later realizing, wasn't this the same Luann Weaver who had been all the buzz online recently?

"Heh, walked right into the trap, did you?"

"I was just about to come looking for you!"

That slap from Luann had shattered her pride, making her lose face in front of everyone.

Jenny had already planned to take care of Emma and then deal with Luann Weaver properly.

It was a pleasant surprise that Luann showed up so soon – saved her the trouble of hunting her down.

Luann looked a touch surprised.

"Looking for me?"
"Oh, right, I've been regretting it since our little scuffle at noon."
Jenny flashed a cold smile.
"You know I'm one of the White family, got scared, huh?"
"Ha, as if your regret means anything now! I won't let you off that easily!"

Luann Weaver chuckled, "You seem to have misunderstood. I just regret not slapping you twice instead of once."
Jenny's complexion turned a shade of steel.
"Good, very good. I'm curious to see how you're going to return that slap."
"Get her! Take her down!"
Two women and three men stepped forward in unison behind her.
Luann Weaver touched her temple, a slight sigh escaping her lips.
"Ah, I'm genuinely not a fan of fighting fire with fire."
"Besides, I did find your earlier suggestion rather intriguing."
"Why don't we make it a reality?"
As Luann finished speaking, five bodyguards in black appeared behind her.
