Chapter 239 Collective Maintenance
Grace was Lily's carefully cultivated daughter. She was Lily's precious treasure.
Over the years, Grace had brought her a lot of benefits.
Grace definitely couldn't marry such an unsuccessful man!
Lily's slap was not at all polite, hitting Wilber's mouth and immediately causing it to bleed.
He hung his head, filled with unwillingness and humiliation, especially in front of Luann.
How could he ever hold his head up in front of Luann in the future?
Myron asked casually, "Are you angry?
"What Wilber said does make some sense.
"If this matter were to become known, it wouldn't be good for Grace's reputation.
"Since he is willing to take responsibility, isn't it a win-win situation?"
Lily glared angrily at Myron. If it weren't for Vito Curtis protecting him, she would have sorted this kid out long ago!
"You are not entitled to meddle in our family affairs!"
Diana chuckled lightly, with a hint of sarcasm. "Sister, your words are quite interesting. Your daughter tried to harm my daughter-in-law. Do you think I will just let this matter go?"
"Do you really think we are easily bullied? Letting you take advantage of us?"
Watson's voice was low, "Sister, Dad called us here today to discuss countermeasures."
"It's true that Wilber indeed humiliated Grace, but ultimately, if it weren't for Grace's actions, how could we have ended up in this situation?"
Luann spoke slowly, "Do you really want to push an innocent person out as a scapegoat?"
No matter how good Lily was at arguing, she couldn't argue with four people at the same time.
She glanced at her pathetic husband beside her, who had been silent all along and pushed his shoulder hard.
Ben seemed to finally understand and cautiously said, "Honey, what they said does make some sense."
Lily fell silent for a moment and decided to place her hopes on Vito Curtis.
"Dad, Grace just made a mistake because she was ignorant."
Luann smiled lightly. "Why don't you just say that she's young and we shouldn't put the blame on her?"
"Luann!" Lily shouted in anger.
Luann finished her milk and had Myron throw it away.
"For such a big matter, you want to brush it off with a simple 'she was ignorant'?
"If it had been me in that room last night, I don't think I could be sitting here calmly like I am now.
"Perhaps all the major media reporters and today's front-page headlines have been dominated by me, right?"
Lily narrowed her eyes.
"What do you want then?
"Grace has already received the punishment she deserves!"
Luann said slowly, "That's her own doing.
"She wouldn't have got involved with Wilber if she hadn't had such thoughts about me."
Lily felt a splitting headache.
Regardless, they were the ones at fault in this situation.
Grace gritted her teeth, almost squeezing out the words through her clenched jaw, "No matter what, I will not marry Wilber unless you kill me!"
As a proud woman, getting involved with Wilber in that way had already left her feeling shattered and desperate.
Lily's heart skipped a beat.
"Grace, don't say such silly things!"
Tears welled up in Grace's eyes, causing Vito Curtis to feel a pang of pity.
After all, Grace was his granddaughter, and he had watched her grow up.
"Dad!"
"Please spare Grace this time!"
Lily pleaded with tears streaming down her face.
Just as Vito Curtis was about to say something, a voice came from the doorway.
"Lily, shouldn't this matter be a request for forgiveness from my precious granddaughter-in-law, Luann?"
Upon hearing the commotion, everyone turned to look.
How did the long-absent old lady show up?
Luann and Myron hurriedly got up, supporting the old lady from John's hands and helping her sit down.
"I never knew something so absurd had happened!"
There was a hint of anger on the wrinkled face of the old lady as she forcefully patted the armrest of the sofa.
"Why are all of you fighting and arguing about such trivial matters?"
Vito Curtis cleared his throat. "Wife, what do you suggest we do?"
The old lady casually replied, "Isn't it simple? When apologizing, you should do it sincerely. Grace, turn around, bow to your sister-in-law, and say sorry to her."
Lily's pupils shrank in disbelief.
"Mom, Grace is my precious one, how could she..."
The old lady interrupted her. "Is someone else's daughter not precious to her mother?"
Lily was speechless.
The old lady cleared her throat and said loudly, "I'm serious.
"Luann is the treasure in my heart!
"If anyone dares to bully my granddaughter-in-law, don't blame me for being ruthless!"
Normally, the old lady seldom interfered in the Curtis family's affairs. Vito Curtis was the one who took charge.
But everyone knew that when Vito Curtis was young, he was a devoted husband who listened to everything the old lady said.
With this speech, the old lady undoubtedly solidified Luann's position as the mistress of the Curtis family.
Everyone responded in unison.
"Yes."
Grace stood frozen in place, her back straightened.
Whether it was from the cold or overwhelming anger, she couldn't tell.
Having to bow to Luann and apologize?
Wasn't that the same as killing her?
"Grace?" the old lady urged.
Grace didn't move.
The old lady gave John a meaningful look.
John immediately stepped forward.
However, before his hand could touch Grace,
Grace burst into a scream. "Why do you all protect Luann like this?! Why?!
"She hasn't suffered any injuries, right? She's fine! Why do you treat me like this!
"To all of you, what am I?!"
Joshua remained silent throughout the whole ordeal.
He knelt there, feeling invisible.
At this moment, he felt a bit relieved.
Compared to what Grace was going through, the punishment he received back then was much lighter.
Moreover, he had reminded Grace countless times to be careful around Luann.
The old lady shook her head. "Don't you realize your mistakes even at this point?
"Grace, the last thing you should have is malicious intent.
"It seems bowing down won't help.
"Old Zhang, throw Grace back into the underground cellar. Don’t release her until she can think straight."
Lily panicked and grabbed her arm.
"Mom! It's very cold under the cellar, Grace has already been locked up for a whole night, she won't be able to take it!"
The old lady shook her off. "Lily, Lily, Grace becoming like this is partly your fault too."
Lily's constant protection allowed Grace to become more unruly, thinking she could act with impunity within the Curtis family even committing such acts.
"What's the matter with Joshua?" the old lady asked.
"He knew about Grace's plan but didn't tell me," Vito Curtis said.
The old lady disappointingly shook her head. the Curtis family's three children never gave her peace of mind.
"Well then, Joshua..."
Luann spoke up at the right moment.
"Grandmother, thanks to Joshua, I found out about this, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to escape Grace's plan smoothly.
"How about sparing him?"
