Chapter 217 Weiss Heiress
"Sweetheart, I'm giving you one last chance. Are you going to eat or not?"
Holly Weiss hung her head low, "I'll eat."
Eddy slid the plate in front of her.
Ravenous, Holly didn't even bother changing her fork; she just dug right in, savoring every bite as if it were her last meal.
After finishing her meal, she lay back contentedly, her stomach finally satisfied.
Eddy hummed, "Now that you're full, you should sleep."
"And what about you?" Holly eyed him suspiciously.
"I'll stay here to look after you."
"Suit yourself!" Holly retorted, turned over, giving Eddy her back.
She didn't believe for a second that a guy like Eddy could genuinely fall for her. It must be just a whim, a game to amuse himself.
Holly wasn't vain enough to think she had the charm to turn a heartbreaker into a committed man.
Watching Holly's endearing antics, Eddy's lips curved into a faint smile, his affection for her growing with each passing moment.
Just then, his cell phone rang.
It was his father calling.
Stepping out of the bedroom, Eddy answered the call.
From the other end came a furious and demanding voice: "You little punk! What the hell have you been up to? What's going on between you and that Curtis kid?"
Eddy responded in a relaxed tone, "Dad, how long ago was that?"
Joseph was full of grievances. If he hadn't noticed the Curtises becoming distant and hadn't pressed for details on his visit, he would’ve remained ignorant of the whole affair.
"What are you talking about?"
"You better haul your ass back here!"
"I've set up a date for you!"
Eddy scowled.
"Dad, I'm already seeing someone."
Joseph scoffed, "Which family's son?"
Eddy, speechless, "I've always hung out with girls, you know that."
"Know what? I trusted you too much, and that's how you end up in such a mess!" Joseph bellowed, "Tomorrow at four in the afternoon, if you dare miss meeting that girl, come back and take over the family business!"
"Dad, can we not do this?"
Eddy was the only son of the prestigious Nash family.
In their eyes, Eddy was just a fun-loving, inconsequential lad.
But in recent years, Eddy has been growing the company, working alongside Myron Curtis and reaching new heights of success.
To keep this a secret and help Myron, he had never mentioned a word of it to his parents.
So, Joseph thought Eddy was clueless about the company's affairs. Plus, they were both young and energetic enough to manage the business, so he let Eddy go off and play.
Little did he know that Eddy would stir up such a ridiculous mess!
"A man ought to settle down or make his mark. You should at least have one of those under your belt, right?"
After a heated exchange, Joseph finally hung up, leaving Eddy feeling frustrated and conflicted .
With a resigned sigh, Eddy walked back into the room to find Holly Weiss wide awake. "Do me a favor?"
Without turning, Holly asked, "What favor?"
"I've got a date tomorrow."
Holly turned around, a playful glint in her eyes "Thinking of juggling two girlfriends simultaneously?"
Eddy rubbed his forehead in frustration.
"You know that's not what I mean. I'm not planning on getting married right now, let alone meeting somebody through my parents' introduction."
"As your girlfriend, shouldn't you expect me to take care of your rival?"
Joy was the last thing on Holly Weiss's mind! She barely held back her laughter and nodded repeatedly, "Don't worry, leave it to me!"
Eddy knew exactly what she was thinking, and with one sentence, he crushed all of Holly Weiss's schemes.
"If you're thinking this is your chance to leave me, then Luann Weaver's information will be sent to Myron Curtis's phone immediately."
A twitch tugged at the corner of Holly's mouth, speechless.
"Alright, got it!"
The next afternoon, Holly got dressed with care. Her black hair fell loosely over her shoulders, with hot pants and a tank top to complete the look, shades perched on her nose, chewing gum, she leaned against the cool wall, making a call.
"Luann Weaver, care to catch a show?"
Rustling of papers came through the phone from Luann's end.
"What kind of show?"
"Eddy's got a date; he wants me to help out."
Surprised, Luann responded, "Really? Well, come on over, and we'll see. Is she pretty? Does she have a good figure?"
With a shake of her head, Luann acquiesced, "Alright, I just finished my paperwork. Give me the address."
"No problem."
Luann left her office early, sneaking out of work. No one dared to question her early departure – after all, she had the chops. Even if she had left yesterday's work undone, she would have completed it by today without slowing down the company's pace.
Luann arrived to find Holly standing in the sun, enjoying an ice cream.
Approaching under an umbrella, Luann chided her softly, "You had a fever just yesterday, and now here you are eating ice cream?"
Holly Weiss nodded with an air of regret. "Yeah, I can't believe I'm tempting fate while still on the mend. I feel kind of guilty."
"Guilty, and yet you're eating?"
Holly Weiss looked at her friend with an inscrutable smile. "Luann Weaver, you just don't get it. This, my dear, is what I call freedom."
Luann's face was a picture of confusion. "What do you mean?"
"You see, eating ice cream makes me feel cool."
"But, when I sunbathe, I warm up."
"So, eating ice cream under the sun means I'm cooling down and warming up at the same time. It cancels out, right? It's like nothing's the matter at all!"
Luann Weaver closed her eyes and lifted her index finger in a gesture of surrender.
Holly Weiss chuckled to herself.
Peering inside, Luann noticed Eddy sitting at a table, casually chatting with two women.
"Why are there two women with him?"
"Oh, one's probably there to chaperone or something, who knows."
"Aren't you going to join them?"
Holly Weiss gave her finger a playful twirl.
"The real pros always save the best for last."
Holly Weiss savored the last bite of her cone and pulled out a compact mirror to touch up her makeup.
Once ready, she linked her arm with Luann's and strutted over with an exaggerated and astonished tone. "Oh! Darling! What are you doing here?"
Goosebumps sprang up all over Luann Weaver's skin.
Suddenly, she felt the urge to shake Holly Weiss off and pretend she didn't know her.
Her sudden entrance momentarily stunned the three at the table.
The woman sitting across from Eddy looked up. Her features were soft and inviting, her makeup subtle, and a gentle smile graced her lips, enhancing her elegance.
The woman beside her, however, was all too familiar to Luann.
It was Jenny, the one who once tried to bully Emma in the mall, only to be thwarted by Luann's timely intervention.
Their eyes met, and Jenny's face registered shock.
Luann calmly looked away.
The woman stood gracefully and extended her hand, which was as delicate as a green onion shoot, and introduced herself in a soothing voice that felt like a breath of spring. "Hello, I'm Amanda."
