Chapter 60 Lacking Manners

Facing Luann's tender and intimate appearance, as if a lazy kitten nuzzling on his shoulder, her enchanting eyes stirred his heart.

Myron's Adam's apple bobbed, his eyes suddenly deep and intense in that moment of eye contact.

"Hmm."

With a definite answer, Luann looked provocatively at Ally, a slight smile on her lips.

Enraged and losing face, Ally stomped her foot and found an excuse to leave.

Alvin looked at Luann in amazement, giving her a thumbs up, feeling impressed.

"Wow, I've never seen Ally back down before!"

Luann let go of Myron's hand and regained her usual calm demeanor.

The warmth in her hand disappeared instantly, as if it had escaped into the cold air.

It felt uncomfortable, that chill.

"Big brother, you've finally come back, so stop standing here like a stone that misses its wife. Go greet my dad and the others from the Curtis family. Grandpa has been missing you too."

"Luann, won't you come along?"

Luann didn't answer but looked at Myron.

She knew that Myron's relationship with the Curtis family wasn't very good.

"You stay here, I'll be back soon."

Myron gently patted Luann's hair and walked away quickly. Alvin blinked a few times, looking at his back and then at Luann.

"Th-th-this... Wait for me, bro!"

Luann found a vacant seat and casually sat down, showing no intention of blending into the noisy surroundings. Her gaze wandered aimlessly, but she caught sight of Ally not far away, angrily berating someone in front of her.

The person was the woman who had chatted with Luann earlier, speaking softly and gently.

"Do you not have eyes?"

"I'm standing right in front of you, can't you see me?!"

"What's your name? How come I've never seen you before? Did you come in with some wealthy sponsor?"

Ally was accustomed to mingling in high society circles, and she could name almost all the women present there. But this woman who suddenly appeared seemed completely ignorant of social etiquette!

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."

Ally lowered her head, discontent wrinkling her brow as she spoke in an arrogant and domineering tone.

"Just saying sorry is enough?"

"That's how your parents taught you to behave?"

"Haven't you learned the four words 'acknowledge your mistakes and change your ways'?"

"You have no manners at all!"

"Clean my shoes!"

The woman bit her lip lightly, tears of helplessness and humiliation welling up in her eyes as she stood there motionless.

"What? Can't you understand human language?" Ally lifted her chin and scolded sharply, "I've already spared you from compensating, don't you know how to be grateful?"

A group of well-known ladies gathered around, enjoying the spectacle, but not a single person spoke up for the woman.

Ally's family background was already excellent, and with the favor of Mrs. Curtis from the Curtis family, she could strut around in the Curtis family with impunity. Who dared to offend her?

"Today is Mrs. Curtis' special day. You wouldn't want to make a small matter like this into a big deal, would you?" Ally's voice had a sharp edge to it.

The woman nodded submissively and bent down.

Suddenly, a hand landed on her shoulder, steadying her.

"What's going on?" Luann asked calmly.

Just an ordinary sentence, but it made the woman burst into tears instantly, as if the humiliation she had just endured had finally received someone's attention.

Her voice choked, speaking in a tone that only the two of them could hear.

"Just now when I walked past, she lost her balance and stumbled in front of me. Before I could retract my foot, I accidentally stepped on hers..."

Ally watched the two of them whispering to each other, mocking smile forming on her face.

"I was just wondering how someone who can't even afford a proper dress and can only wear cheap brands could come to such a prestigious place."

"Oh, it turns out someone brought her."

"Miss Luann, I must have a good talk with you about this."

"Today is Mrs. Curtis' birthday, and those who came are all influential figures."

"People like your ill-mannered friends, why bring them here to make a fool of themselves?"

"They really think this is a marketplace, where everyone can come?" Ally finished speaking, and everyone burst into laughter.

The woman gently pulled Luann's sleeve, whispering softly, "Don't worry about me, this has nothing to do with you."

Luann patted her hand, lifted her gaze, and locked eyes with Ally, her gaze clear and bright.

"On what grounds and with what credentials does Miss Hodge speak like this?"

"As the Curtis family's eldest granddaughter, do I still need Miss Hodge's approval to make a friend?"

"Speaking ill of her friend in front of her host, isn't that what you call etiquette?"

"Is this what you call manners?"

Each sentence was sharp, each word chilling.

There was a faint anger in every line.

Ally laughed angrily.

"You have quite a thick skin, daring to say anything."

"Host? What kind of host are you of the Curtis family? You are nothing more than a plaything Myron bought with money."

Luann raised an eyebrow and smiled faintly.

"Miss Hodge, I don't understand what you're saying. Don't marriages require a dowry?"

Ally's words were stuck in her throat.

A dowry?

How shameless of Luann to say that!

Caught off guard, Ally gritted her teeth in frustration and changed the subject.

"Alright, then let me ask, Miss Luann, who claims to be the host of the Curtis family, is there a solution to my shoes?"

"If you're willing to apologize to me, then this matter will be considered settled."

The woman behind Luann stepped forward, about to speak, but was pulled back by her.

Luann made a faint scoffing sound in her throat, lifted her foot, and stepped on Ally's shoe in front of everyone's astonished eyes, using all her strength to crush and press.

The palm-sized, beautiful face was filled with arrogance!

"Luann!" Ally trembled in pain, shouting angrily, "You dare step on my foot?!"

Frustrated and infuriated, she reached out her hand to scratch Luann's face!

But Luann was already prepared, tactically retreating two steps.

"There's no need to give me face. I will fully compensate you, every penny."

"A pair of last summer's out-of-season shoes should not cost more than a hundred dollar."

"Could Miss Hodge please provide a contact number?"

"I will transfer the money to your account within three days."

Ally's teeth trembled, her eyes widening with rage, and flames burning in her eyes!

"Luann!"

Luann casually stopped a passing servant and smiled lightly, "Please take Miss Hodge upstairs and get her a new pair of shoes."

The servant hesitated for a moment and then bent down, "Miss Hodge, please come with me."
