Chapter 279 Let Emma Be My Apprentice

Hearing the busy tone after Luann hung up the phone, the backstage staff who informed the message could not help but jump up with the landline in hand.
"Big news!"
"Huge news!"
However, no one in the expansive office paid him any attention.
"Aren't you all excited? Don't you want to know what I have to say?!"
Finally, someone raised an eyebrow and glanced at him.
"Did something absurd happen?" colleague A asked.
"Is it about a raise?" colleague B joked.
Roy's face turned red with anger as he slammed the table, trying to get the attention of dozens of people.
"LA!"
"LA, she..."
The crowd interrupted him and concluded as follows.
"I know, LA is first again."
"Tell me when she's not first, then it'll be interesting."
"What a joke! LA fell in second place, which is less than my chance to win the lottery. I bought the lottery for 11 years and also won seven or eight times! What about her? The first place is sitting firmly."
"By the way, there's a dark horse in this competition; come and see."
Roy raised his hand and smashed the cup on the ground.
With a sharp sound, everyone looked over. Roy held his chest, calmed himself as much as possible, and tried to speak in a steady voice, but he couldn't hide his excitement.
"LA will be attending the Global Art Ranking Awards this time!"
Everyone fell silent.
The next second, they were all in disbelief. They had a heated discussion, as follows:
"Is it true?"
"My goodness, are you kidding me?"
"Is it April Fools' Day?"
"LA? In person? Really?"
 "I must be dreaming!"
Everyone stood up, their faces flushed, their hands clenched into fists. "It's been ten years. Am I finally going to see what LA looks like?"
"It's embarrassing; every time the reporters ask about LA's age and appearance, we can only smile awkwardly."
"Yeah, it's made people speculate whether she's a man or a woman."
"Let's guess, how old is she this year?"
Roy thought for a moment. "She sounds pretty young."
 "In her thirties?"
"How is that possible? LA climbed to the top ten years ago. Is it possible for someone in their early twenties to achieve such a high level?"
"I think she should be around fifty."
"Maybe seventy or eighty."
"It can't be that exaggerated, right?"
"The second place is ninety-five this year."
"That's true."
"A woman's appearance and voice are the easiest to fake, what can you tell over the phone?"
"I can't wait; why hasn't the awards ceremony started?"
"It's been half a month, and the results just came out today, with LA being the first to be notified."
"Another year without any suspense."
"This year is really a stir."
"Come and take a look."
The big screen flashed and suddenly lit up with a string of data, showing the rankings from first to fiftieth.
"The second place has been pushed down?"
"Although the second place is not as good as LA, it has been for five or six years."
"Roy, adjust the picture."
Roy hurried over and tapped his fingers on the computer. The transaction volume instantly appeared one by one, and the crowd couldn't help but gasp.
"Is second place this year only 1.38 million dollars short of LA's transaction volume?"
Roy thought, '1.38 million dollars? What does that mean? All the previous second place have been thrown off by her by a wide margin. Although it's only one place, the transaction volume is several hundred million dollars. And now, someone can catch up with LA, and it's just a little bit?'
"Who is it?"
The last time something so shocking happened was eleven years ago when LA first occupied the rank of crush. With strong competence, she completely suppressed all the contestants.
Roy thought, 'Could it be that LA's first place is really not guaranteed?'
In the face of such a situation, everyone was extremely excited and even began to cheer.
"Quick, check this person!" Staff A.
"Yes, I'm looking forward to the scene where he confronts LA!" Staff B.
"I never thought that LA would also have a day of setbacks. It seems that she should be more crisis-aware!" Staff C.
...
Luann took off her Bluetooth earpiece. She reacted belatedly.
"I have forgotten to ask Myron what his ranking is. Forget it; let's keep it a mystery." She muttered.
Luann drove back home.
Myron was in the kitchen, wearing an apron and cooking.
Luann walked over lightly and deliberately tapped him on the back to scare him.
However, Myron remained unusually calm and turned around. "You're back; the food will be ready soon."
"I want to go to this year's Global Art Ranking Awards. Will you come with me, Myron?" Luann's voice was full of anticipation.
Myron heard her call and readily agreed. "Of course."
Luann giggled and took his arm.
"Then let me tell you something, don't get angry."
"Go ahead." Myron replied calmly.
"I sent your painting to participate in the competition." Luann said.
Upon hearing this, Myron's brow twitched. He retorted, "Aren't you worried that I might not even secure the last place, which would embarrass you?"
Luann shook her head with a hint of girlish pride in her tone. "That’s not possible. From my many years of experience, you will definitely make it to the list."
"I'm looking forward to it." Myron gently touched her hair with a hint of helplessness. "Well, go outside and wait; I can't cook if you stand here."
"Okay," Luann answered.
After dinner, Myron sat on the sofa, choosing a romantic movie, intending to enjoy a quiet evening with Luann. However, his plan was interrupted by a phone call from Vito Curtis. "Where are you and Luann now?"
Myron, holding the remote control, responded coldly, "At home."
"Come over, quickly." Vito Curtis paused and added, "It's about Emma, and it's related to Luann."
Myron's brows furrowed that he was very unhappy. "I see."
Just as he hung up the phone, Luann came down the stairs in a bathrobe. "Have you picked a movie?"
Myron shook his head gently and tightened her slightly open collar. "Go upstairs and get dressed; we're going back to the old house."
Luann's delicate and beautiful eyebrows raised slightly. "Did that Mr. Ross come looking for you?"
Myron looked at her suspiciously.
As they walked upstairs, Luann explained, "It is because we made him lose face last time in the park; he is still resentful but couldn't do anything to the Curtis family, so he took it out on Emma and made things difficult for her in the exam."
"How did you handle it?" Myron asked in a low voice.
Luann lazily said, "I plan to let Emma be my apprentice."
