Chapter 432 Thinking Small

Micah was willing to hand over 5% of the Gilbert Group's shares to Juliet. If it wasn't for Wilber's happiness, he wouldn't have given those shares to an outsider. After all, the entire company belonged to him and Madeline.

Wilber felt a bit moved. Even though he hated giving up future shares that were supposed to be his, he knew what was important right now.

"I'll go find her," Wilber said, grabbing the contract.

"Go ahead," Micah replied, watching Wilber leave. He let out a long sigh and slumped back on the sofa.

Wilber rushed to Juliet's place and sent her a message explaining everything.

This time, Juliet let him in. But before that, she made herself look pale and added some blush under her nose and on her cheeks to make it seem like she'd been crying for hours.

When the door opened, Juliet's tear-streaked face greeted him.

Wilber licked his dry lips and struggled to speak, "Juliet, I messed up. I really know I messed up. I shouldn't have let my mom take care of you, and we lost our child because of it. Can you please understand me?"

"I know, Wilber," Juliet said, hugging him tightly.

Seeing Juliet so close, Wilber relaxed a bit. He held her and they went inside, sitting face to face. He explained his intentions clearly.

Juliet stared at him, finally understanding the problem. She remembered that when they were together before, he wasn't exactly generous. The jewelry from Sunshine, although bought by Wilber, took a lot of begging and nagging. The other jewelry and accessories he got her weren't very expensive either.

The one time he spent a lot was after Luann and Myron's wedding, and that was just to keep up appearances. He regretted it for days afterward.

But ever since they reconciled, Wilber had been super generous, agreeing to everything she wanted.

Wilber rambled on, sometimes blaming himself, sometimes blaming Madeline, his face full of apologies. He was sweating despite it being autumn, scared she would leave him.

Juliet found it amusing. She thought, 'How funny. What makes Wilber think I'll accept him?'

After Wilber finished speaking, he looked at Juliet nervously. "Juliet, what do you think? Is there anything you're not satisfied with?"

Juliet lowered her eyes, full of sadness. Her voice trembled, "So you think that 5% of the shares can make up for our lost child?"

"No," Wilber's heart ached at the mention of the child, "I just hope to give you some compensation."

"Forget it, Wilber. Maybe this is where we end," Juliet said softly, her voice tinged with despair. "Your mom doesn't like me. What if I get pregnant again and she hurts me?"

Wilber, panicking, grabbed her hand. "She won't. I promise. Whatever you want, just tell me."

Juliet hesitated. "Really?"

"Of course. As long as I can do it, I'll agree."

Juliet frowned slightly and pointed to the contract. "Isn't 5% a bit too little?"

Wilber was taken aback. "Then how much do you want?"

Juliet replied, "It's not about what I want. It's about what you think our child is worth."

Wilber's throat tightened. "I..."

Juliet sighed. "Wilber, you know my dad is seriously ill, and my mom has completely cut ties with me. Here in Upper West Side, you're my only support. If I have conflicts with your mom in the future and you side with her, I'd be left with no one. So, I'm just looking for some security. If you're willing to give me 30% to prove your love for me, I'll forgive you and your mom."

Wilber's eyes widened in shock. "What did you say? 30%?" That meant giving Juliet a third of the company.

"I've made my request, Wilber. I hope you can give me an answer within three days." Juliet left no room for negotiation, knowing she had the upper hand.

Wilber, looking extremely troubled, stood up, seeming to age ten years in an instant. "Okay."

Meanwhile, Alvin had been busy binge-watching shows lately.

Every time Emma opened Alvin's door, she found him either watching TV or on the computer. Strangely, he wasn't playing games but was constantly glued to shows and movies.

Around three in the morning, Emma could still hear laughter coming from the other side of the wall.

Emma couldn't take it anymore. "Alvin, what are you doing all day? Don't you think it's creepy to be up like this in the middle of the night?" She stood at Alvin's door, holding a pillow, her hair a mess, her face full of resentment. She stared straight at Alvin.

Alvin turned his head, his sleep-deprived eyes wide open and bloodshot, yet extremely excited. He waved her over. "Emma, come here quickly. Look, isn't Elodie beautiful?"

Emma glanced at the woman on the screen, a cold goddess playing a murderous villain, her face covered in blood.

'What's beautiful about that? Just one look will give me nightmares. I'd be sleepless until dawn,' Emma thought, expressionless. "Yes."

Alvin chuckled. "I think so too."

Emma swallowed. "Hey, are you a fanboy?"

Alvin extended a finger and waggled it lightly. "No. You're thinking too small. I'm courting my future wife, got it?"
