Chapter 398 Face-to-Face Confrontation

When they heard that, the two cops shot each other a look. You could see the shock in their eyes.

Brianna jumped in first, "Mike, what the hell are you talking about? How could Luann hurt you? Are you so messed up you're talking crazy? Officers, you should bounce for now. Mike's super sick; he just got out of the ICU today. His head's probably still all foggy."

The cops nodded. Brianna made sense, so they decided to split without a fuss. Plus, Luann being tied to the case made things tricky.

Seeing this, Mike let out a growl like a wounded animal, trying to get them to stay. He gasped painfully, "Don't... go... I'm not... lying."

Brianna cut in, "Mike, if Luann really hurt you, why would she cover your medical bills? If you don't believe me, check this out."

She whipped out her phone and pulled up the transfer chat records with Luann, showing them to the cops who were still hanging around.

One cop said, "Mrs. Weaver's got a point. I heard Mr. Weaver was really sick a few days ago."

Mike's eyes were bloodshot, practically bulging out of his head. He looked terrifying, desperate to say he was telling the truth.

The cops acted like they didn't see it. But as they opened the door, they found Juliet standing outside.

Juliet smiled, but her words had an edge. "Is this how you handle things? My dad pointed Luann out. Shouldn't you at least bring her in for a face-off? Are you just gonna ignore this?"

One cop cleared his throat. "But given Mr. Weaver's condition, it doesn't seem right to take a statement now."

"What about the surveillance?" Juliet pushed. If Luann was involved, it was a big deal.

"The footage is being fixed. Once we have it..." Before he could finish, his phone rang. "Hello?"

The voice on the other end said, "The video's fixed."

Juliet, standing close, heard it. "So, can you call Luann now?"

Luann was chilling on the sofa, half-asleep in front of the TV. A phone call woke her up.

The cop said, "Is this Luann Weaver? You're a suspect in a car accident case. Please come over."

"Alright." Luann yawned, getting up from the sofa.

Myron, working on his laptop next to her, narrowed his eyes. "Looks like Mike's out of the woods."

"Yeah, and the video's probably fixed too." Luann smirked, grabbing her coat from the sofa.

Myron shut his laptop and stood up. "I'll go with you."

When they walked into the VIP ward, the cops stood up, showing some respect. "Mr. Curtis, Ms. Weaver."

Luann gave a nod, her tone flat, "Can we wrap this up quick? I really don't wanna see him right now."

Juliet sneered, not holding back. Her voice was sharp. "You don't wanna see Dad 'cause you feel guilty, right?"

Luann shot back, "Why would I feel guilty?"

"Luann, sometimes I seriously doubt you're even Dad's daughter! How could you be so heartless to try and run him over?" Juliet snapped, her brows furrowed.

Luann raised an eyebrow. "You haven't spent a dime. How dare you judge me?"

Juliet's face twisted. "We're talking about you now. Officers, are you gonna cover for her? Why isn't the video being shown?"

The cops looked a bit annoyed. "Our team is on the way. Don't question our skills."

Juliet snorted, clearly pissed. She had to be here; otherwise, Luann and Myron would bury the truth.

Luann looked at Myron, exasperated. "Guess I'm someone who doesn't keep promises now."

Myron asked, "How so?"

"I said last time would be the last time I'd see Mike, but here we are again. It's such a headache."

Myron reached out, gently massaging her temples. Their every move made Juliet burn with jealousy.

Soon, someone brought over a laptop with the fixed video.

As soon as it was opened, all eyes were glued to the screen.

After watching the whole thing, Juliet jumped up, like she found gold, shouting, "Everyone saw it! Luann hit him first!"

Myron glanced at it, his tone icy. "If you can't use your eyes, you might as well donate them."

Juliet was stunned. "What do you mean? Even with evidence, you're still covering for Luann?"

Myron pointed at the screen, his tone cold. "Can't you read road markings? Both were driving normally on a two-way road. Luann did make an illegal U-turn and crossed the line, causing the collision, but that's just a rear-end and a traffic violation. Mike wasn't hurt at the time, was he?"

Luann nodded, adding, "Yeah, I did accidentally hit Dad's car, causing it to spin around, facing me. If he had stopped, nothing would've happened, but he didn't. He drove against traffic towards me. I'm not stupid; I dodged. Who knew he'd crash into a tree? Officers, you can't blame me for that, right? Who wants to kill whom, it's really hard to say."

After saying that, Luann pulled out her phone.

For some reason, Juliet felt a chill.

Luann tapped a recording. A familiar voice blared out, "Luann, I'm gonna kill you today! I want to wipe out the Wright family, make them disappear from this world completely!"
