Chapter 87 No Looks, No Talent
Holly's bright eyes slowly shifted downward, her gaze seemingly assessing him inch by inch.
Contemplating how much she weighed, Eddy asked, "Ma’am, how did you develop such a thick skin?"
"You're saying that at your age, you still haven't matured enough to speak decently and instead utter such shameless words, don't you feel any shame?"
Eddy maintained his smile, his eyes twitching at the corners, making his attractive almond-shaped eyes almost disappear.
For Holly, this blow was greater than the sum of the past twenty-eight years!
"I'm the same age as Myron, why do you only criticize me and not him?"
Holly's expression was strange.
"He's married, and you're not. Can there be any comparison?"
Eddy suddenly realized and pulled the car over to the side of the road.
He leaned over, placing his hand on the back of Holly's seat.
"So, you're saying you look down on unmarried middle-aged bachelors?"
Holly's smile was sweet, and her beautiful eyes filled with a strong sense of amusement.
She leaned in, revealing the captivating view underneath her suspender neckline, causing Eddy to sneak a glance.
"You've thought too much, I simply look down on you."
Why engage in such idle pursuits when one is capable of so much more? Especially digging into your friend's territory?
Holly detested such behavior the most!
She resolutely got out of the car, slammed the door shut, and kicked it on her way back.
"I bet this car was something you asked her for when she favored you the most!"
"Pah!"
"Scumbag!"
As Holly's figure disappeared into the distance, Eddy sat in the car, his face full of confusion.
"Is this woman lacking common sense or has she watched too much Telenovela .."
Pushing the door to the ward open, the room was filled with the scent of medicine.
Holly sniffed, "Did you change your medication?"
Luann sat on the bed, her translucent fair face showed a faint tinge of blush. Her long and thick eyelashes trembled in disorder, enveloping all the emotions in her eyes.
"Yeah."
Holly picked up a small bed tray table and placed it on the bed.
Suddenly, she seemed to have discovered something and approached Luann abruptly.
The distance between them instantly shortened, and they could even feel each other's intertwined breaths.
"Luann, why is your face so red?"
Holly reached out and touched it, finding that it was scorching hot.
"Is it too hot? I'll open a window."
She walked to the window and pulled it open.
Unaware of the figure in the corner gradually moving away.
On the fourth morning, Holly went through the discharge procedures.
When she returned to her room after everything was settled, she found Myron, who knows when he had arrived, supporting Luann as they were about to leave.
Holly's footsteps halted.
She looked at Myron's devastatingly pitiful face so close to Luann and couldn't help but sigh.
"No, this won't do. I need to wash my face..."
Thinking back over the years, how many of the people who liked Luann were talented businessmen, scions of prominent families, or even rising stars in the entertainment industry?
They all had outstanding appearances and extensive knowledge.
Unlike Myron...
Unattractive and talentless.
And ugly.
Lost in her thoughts, Holly didn't notice Luann's legs giving way, causing her to stumble forward, Myron swiftly catching her.
Myron held her steadily.
“Be careful,” he said.
Myron's hand clasped firmly around her slender waist, his grip both powerful and commanding.
With a gentle lift, he successfully raised Luann off the ground.
They walked away effortlessly.
Holly watched in astonishment.
She slapped her head hard.
“I think I understand why Luann went for a pretty face...”
Myron placed Luann in the car and returned to collect the remaining items.
He noticed Holly standing at the doorway, her expression complex.
Ignoring her, Myron walked indoors directly.
"Mr. Curtis!"
Holly called out loudly and approached him.
“What’s the matter?”
Myron's gaze carried a hint of hostility.
If not for this girl, he would have been the one who stayed by Luann's side these past few days.
“I want to discuss something with you.”
"Luann and I are good friends. We used to eat, live, and play together, doing everything together!"
“This time she sprained her ankle, and it’s serious. I’m really worried about her being alone.”
"Coincidentally, I have a place to stay on the Upper West Side. Why not let Luann stay with me for now..."
"When she recovers, I promise to bring her back to you..."
Holly's voice grew softer as she spoke.
The man in front of her exuded a sinister presence. His dark eyes remained calm, shrouded in an oppressive darkness.
"Why... why are you looking at me like that..."
They say that someone who has suffered severe injuries will hold onto a lifeline with even greater desperation after receiving warmth.
After all, it’s not easy for someone like Myron to find such a gentle and virtuous woman.
"Miss Holly, don't you think you're involving yourself a bit too much in my marital affairs?"
Myron's voice was cold and harsh.
His oppressive aura made it hard to breathe.
“Even though you’re friends...”
Myron's thin lips opened slightly, and he took a step forward, neither fast nor slow.
The sound of his heels hitting the ground was like a heavy drumbeat, causing Holly's heart to leap into her throat.
This man is so terrifying!
“Buddy... calm down. We have something to discuss!”
Myron's lips curled into a chilling smile, speaking each word deliberately.
“There’s nothing to discuss!”
Holly's legs trembled, and her survival instinct made her take a step back, bumping into someone's embrace.
Laughter came from above.
“Alright, alright, stop scaring this little girl.”
Myron glanced coldly at Eddy and walked away.
The oppressive atmosphere in the air instantly vanished without a trace.
Holly let out a long breath, released herself from Eddy's embrace, and patted her chest in fear, as if she had just narrowly escaped death.
“No thank you?”
“At least I helped you three times.”
Holly snorted lightly.
“Wasn’t it only twice?”
“Where did the third time come from?”
Eddy extended his slender fingers and counted them one by one.
“Yesterday in the elevator.”
“And just now.”
“And also...”
“... The Music Temple.”
Holly widened her eyes, staring at him for a while. "I'm sorry, but I can't make the connection." She had seen too many handsome men in her life, and her brain couldn't handle it anymore!
“You took my ticket,” Eddy smiled.
Only then did Holly have a sudden realization, and she excitedly slapped him on the chest, causing him to cough.
“So it was you!”
Eddy let out a faint hum from his throat.
Holly smiled happily, and just as the word "thank you" was about to slip from her lips, she seemed to remember something. Her expression immediately turned serious.
“Let me tell you, don’t waste your effort!” Eddy looked at her abrupt change in attitude, completely puzzled and innocent.
“What did I do?” he asked.
“Do I have to spell it out for you?” Holly shook her head helplessly, wearing an expression upon her face that seemed to see through everything.
“You just want to get close to me, use me as a stepping stone, and have me speak highly of you in front of Luann, to legitimize your status!”
Eddy fell silent for a moment.
“What does Luann have to do with this?” he finally realized.
“Are you saying I like her?”
