Chapter 448 Her Maternal Love

Luann walked into the house and immediately heard the hum of a sewing machine.

The butler stepped up right away. "Mrs. Curtis has been waiting for you. Head up to the third floor."

"Got it," Luann replied.

Joshua called out as she walked away, "Hey, I'll drop your stuff off and then head to the office. If you need a ride for dinner, ask Myron."

"Sure thing." The door on the third floor was open, and as Luann reached it, she saw the room filled with pricey fabrics.

Diana was at the sewing machine, working quickly and skillfully. Finished dresses were hanging nearby.

"You're here," Diana said without looking up.

"Mom." Luann walked over and sat on a small sofa.

They sat in silence, not acknowledging each other.

Half an hour later, Diana finished her work. She stood up, shook out the dress, and scraps of fabric fell to the floor.

"Try it on?" Diana handed it to her.

Luann looked a bit surprised. "What's this?"

"I made it for you. Didn't take your measurements, but I think I still got it." Diana pointed to her eyes. "Should be close enough."

A skilled seamstress could measure a person just by looking—shoulder width, hip circumference, waist size, and all that.

Luann nodded, a bit embarrassed, and took the dress to the next room to change. The chiffon blouse and floral skirt made her look both pure and alluring, showing off her long legs.

"Looks like my eye is still pretty good," Diana said, "Turn around, let me see the back."

Luann hesitated but then turned around. A long scar above her calf was clearly visible.

Diana's eyes widened slightly. "The waistline's a bit loose. Take it off, and I'll fix it in a couple of days. Try this one," she said, grabbing a long V-neck knit dress.

This time, after putting it on, Diana kept praising her.

Luann ended up trying on over a dozen dresses. She noticed a few short ones, but Diana never mentioned them again.

"They're all great. Take them home," Diana said with a smile.

"Thanks, Mom," Luann smiled slightly, a hint of joy in her eyes.

After packing up the clothes, Luann was about to leave. Diana asked, "Not staying for dinner?"

"I have something to do. I'll come back tomorrow for dinner," Luann said softly.

"Alright." Diana stood by the window, watching the driver take Luann away.

The butler quietly said, "You seem to have changed your attitude towards Mrs. Luann Curtis quite a bit."

At first, Diana didn't pay much attention to Luann. If it weren't for Luann's piano skills, Diana might have forgotten she even had a daughter-in-law.

Diana was tidying up the fabric. Her tone was calm. "When I didn't know her well, I thought the Weaver family changed the bride just for money, so I didn't think much of her. But now, I see Luann's quite nice. And she's ready to live a good life with Myron."

Diana used to worry that Luann might hurt Myron emotionally. After all, Myron had never been in a relationship before. She even tried to make a deal with Luann involving shares, but Luann turned her down.

As Luann and Myron spent more time together, Diana's opinion of her improved, and she even stood up for her a few times.

Recently, the truth about the Wright family's past came out, and it made Diana pretty sad. She had a few casual chats with Charles about it.

"Shirley, what a pity. I never thought the Wright family would fall apart like this. I met Shirley a few times back then. My dad wanted to set us up, and the Wright family was on board too. But it was too late; she was already with Mike. Such a wonderful person, to end up depressed. I can imagine how much her father's death affected her," Charles sighed.

He even thought to himself that if he had ended up with Shirley, Luann might not have been in the picture, and Myron might still be single.

So now, Diana felt very protective of Luann.

"In the future, invite Luann over for dinner more often," Diana told the butler.

"Yes, Mrs. Curtis," the butler replied.

When Luann got home, she took out the clothes and hung them in the closet.

Myron walked in from outside, quietly came up behind her, and gently hugged her. "Bought new clothes?"

Luann shook her head. "Mom made them."

Myron's mood shifted slightly. "Hmm."

Luann ran her fingers through his hair. "I'm having dinner with my fans tonight at Vintage Mirror. Want to come with me?"

"I'll pick you up later," Myron said softly.

"Okay."

When the sun had completely set, Luann set off.

After dropping Luann off at Vintage Mirror, Myron went to take care of some business.

Luann then sent her location in the group chat. Luann: [I'm here waiting for you guys. It's about a ten-minute walk.]

A fan replied: [Got it!]

Another fan sent: [Luann, wait for me. I'm on my way!]

Because there were so many people, they booked a huge private room with five large round tables, each seating twenty people. Soon, a noisy group of people came in.

Big John was pushed to sit next to Luann. But he waved his hands and shook his head vigorously. "No, I'm afraid Mr. Curtis will beat me up. Let a girl sit next to Luann!"

Someone said, "Big John, you're such a wimp."

Big John replied, "No, I'm just being cautious."

Once everyone was seated, the food started coming in one dish after another.

Luann smiled and said, "Thank you all for coming from so far away to see me. I appreciate it."

The fans all replied excitedly.

"It's no trouble at all!"

"Luann, where's Mr. Curtis? Why isn't he here?"

"Yeah, why isn't Mr. Curtis with you?"

"Luann, I saw your proposal video last time. It was so romantic!"

"Do you have the ring?"

"Have you taken your wedding photos?"

"When's the wedding?"

Luann thought seriously for a moment. It seemed like some things were indeed missing. "Well, I'll pass the message to him; don't worry."

The slightly open door was knocked on. "Hello, Ms. Weaver, what a coincidence."
