Chapter 287 Eddy's Companion
Eddy was still annoyingly chattering on, "Look at this prime rib, this physique, who isn't better than those weaklings you usually look at?"
Holly bit hard on the lobster shell, making a loud crunch.
She thought, 'I shouldn't have been soft-hearted. I should just throw Eddy out!'
"Average looking," Holly commented straightforwardly.
Eddy frowned.
It seemed like he didn't agree with her.
Tilting her head, Holly asked, "A woman with a superb figure but very ugly, or a woman with a beautiful face but a terrible figure, which one would you choose?"
"Assuming no plastic surgery or weight loss."
This question actually stumped Eddy.
He pondered it seriously for a long time.
Holly took a bite of cake, asking, "What are you pondering about?"
Eddy cleared his throat and said, "Then... I'll choose the good-looking one."
Holly pulled a poker face and tugged at the corner of her mouth. She said, "You keep saying you love me, but it seems fake. Otherwise, your answer should be, I choose you; I don't want anyone else, no matter if they are good-looking or not."
Eddy belatedly realized he had fallen into Holly's trap. He hurriedly said, "Let me ask you too, the handsome one..."
"No need to ask, I choose the handsome one," Holly interrupted without hesitation.
Eddy immediately continued, "You see, your answer is also..."
"I don't love you, so of course I wouldn't choose you," Holly said.
Eddy fell silent. Feeling sulky for a while, he saw Holly suddenly staring intently at the player.
He immediately became interested in educating her, asking, "Which player do you think is playing well?"
"Number thirteen."
Eddy's eyes lit up, and he was surprised that Holly had a good eye; number thirteen was also his favorite player.
He was about to launch into a lengthy discussion. "Number thirteen plays as a center, he..."
Holly cut him off, saying, "What color is his jersey?"
Unable to answer, Eddy turned off the TV.
They ate in silence.
After finishing the meal, Holly lay contentedly on the sofa.
"Aren't you leaving yet?" Holly asked.
Eddy gritted his teeth, "I feel like a caretaker, coming over every day to feed you, and once I'm done, I can scram."
"Since you brought me so much delicious food, I won't hold it against you for insulting me," Holly smirked.
Eddy raised an eyebrow and suddenly pulled out an invitation from his pocket, saying, "It's from the North family; they're hosting a banquet soon to celebrate Peter North's return."
"Will you be my companion and go with me?"
"If you refuse, Ann might take the opportunity to come."
Holly shrugged lightly and said, "It seems like I don't have a choice."
Eddy nodded.
Holly said, "Alright then."
Seeing her agreement, Eddy felt relieved and said, "I'll head back; the invitation is with you."
"Okay," Holly replied.
Upon returning home, Alan Nash immediately summoned Eddy.
Alan said, "On the day of the North family banquet, you go with Ann."
Eddy calmly stated, "I've already invited Holly."
"I don't like that girl," Alan said sternly.
Eddy replied calmly, "Thank you. I also don't want another rival."
Alan's lips twitched, saying, "I've already informed Ann, don't make me lose my dignity!"
"It's always you causing trouble for yourself, making your face hard to save," Eddy bluntly exposed, "If you hadn't been so presumptuous and informed others without permission, there wouldn't be so many issues."
"You!" Alan was speechless.
"Moreover, I've left the invitation with Holly," Eddy added.
Alan suppressed his anger, saying, "It's fine; you can share one with Ann!"
After a moment of silence, Eddy looked at Sharon Cooper, who had been silent.
Eddy said, "Mom, look at him."
"I finally found a girl I like, and Dad insists on meddling."
"If this continues, I won't marry anyone; I won't get married for a lifetime."
"You two don't even think about having grandchildren."
Alan pointed at him angrily, saying, "Are you threatening me?"
"Amazingly, you can feel that," Eddy said, taking a step upstairs.
"Eddy! Come back here! Fine, now that you've grown up, you dare to challenge me!" Alan shouted in frustration.
Sharon coughed and said, "Stop pushing Eddy."
Alan waved his hand abruptly and said, "Don't interfere in this matter! It's because you spoil him too much on weekdays! Look at what he's become!"
"As for Ann, I will still notify her to come!"
Three days later, it's on the day of the banquet.
Alan stopped Eddy, refusing to let Eddy leave no matter what.
Glancing at the time, Eddy felt it was too late to go pick up Holly now, so he sent her a message.
Eddy: [You may need to come on your own; I can't get out of here.]
Holly: [Eddy, can you bear to let a girl like me come to pick you up? I'm in a dress; it's not convenient to drive.]
Eddy: ['Transfer twenty thousand,' please confirm receipt.]
Holly accepted the money.
Holly: [Alright! I'll be there in fifteen minutes!]
Mario hurried in and said, "Sir, Ann has arrived."
Alan immediately straightened up, no longer pulling Eddy.
"Send her in," Alan said.
Ann entered slowly from outside, her long hair flowing down to her waist, her black hair cascading like a waterfall, her face gentle and pure, a dream lover in the hearts of many men.
Alan stood up, saying, "Let's go, it's getting late."
Eddy squinted his attractive peach blossom eyes, saying, "Dad, Ann has arrived. Can't you let her have a cup of coffee before leaving? She hasn't even sat on the sofa yet, and are you rushing her?"
Ann spoke softly, "It's okay. The banquet starts in an hour, and the journey is a bit far, so we should indeed set off."
But Eddy had already spoken, and Alan felt embarrassed to rush Ann.
"Ann, please have a seat. Have a cup of coffee before you leave," Alan said.
"Thank you very much," Ann replied.
She had only drunk half of her coffee; Mario hurried in again, looking somewhat flustered.
Mario said, "Alan, Sharon, Ms. Weiss is here."
Alan said decisively, "Don't let her in!"
The crisp sound of high heels echoed; Holly walked in and said, "Is this the Nash family's hospitality? Impressive."
Alan's face was awkward.
Ignoring them, Holly walked directly to Eddy, asking, "Are we leaving or not?"
Eddy smiled, stood up, and naturally took her hand, saying, "Let's go."
Alan quickly set down his coffee cup, saying, "We're setting off, too."
The five of them left together.
Alan didn't want Holly and Eddy to be together, so he deliberately said, "Holly, why don't you ride in our car and let Ann and Eddy ride in another?"
Ignoring him, Holly whispered to Eddy, "Hurry up, I'm hungry."
Eddy's face was full of indulgence as he smiled.
"Okay, I'll go drive now," Eddy replied.
