Chapter 439 Treating People with Courtesy

There were a few playing cards scattered on the triangular table.

Luann, Holly, and Hill were each chilling at a corner of the triangle, lounging in their custom-made chairs, playing cards at a laid-back pace.

Holly had a lollipop in her mouth and glanced up at Luann and Hill. "So, are Wilber and Juliet totally done for?"

Hill nodded. "Caught cheating and a fake marriage. Yeah, I don't think many guys could handle that."

Holly tossed out a pair of cards and sighed, "So, Wilber's the real fool here?"

He spent all that money and energy, and in the end, got nothing.

"But Luann, why are you helping Wilber?" Holly couldn't help but feel annoyed for her. "Wilber's not a good guy. Don't be fooled by how miserable he looks now. He and Juliet are two peas in a pod. It's just a matter of who's sneakier."

Luann just smiled without saying a word.

Hill said, "I won, pay up."

Holly was shocked. She took out two one-dollar bills from the stack in front of her and handed them over. Whenever Luann was around, they only dared to play for small stakes.

Hill was satisfied and pocketed the money. She lightly brushed her short hair. "This isn't helping; it's just watching them fight."

Holly blinked. Hill smiled knowingly and continued, "Do you think she's stupid? The conflict between Wilber and Juliet was already there. A little push could easily spark a dispute. Since both of them are tough and have lots of tricks up their sleeves, it's better to let them use those tricks on each other. It saves her the trouble of dealing with them one by one."

Luann explained, "Nonsense, I never intended to get involved. I prefer to treat people with courtesy."

Hill shrugged. Since childhood, she had noticed that Luann seemed easygoing but was very clear about boundaries. She was polite to those who didn't provoke her. But if anyone had ill intentions towards her, she wouldn't say anything but would definitely not hold back when retaliating.

Holly understood too.  She asked, "But who do you think will win this round? Want to bet? Who are you betting on?"

Hill was a bit helpless. "I don't know much about their situation. I'll just bet on Juliet."

Holly agreed, "I'll bet on Juliet too. She's too cunning. How could Wilber possibly beat her? What about you, Luann?"

Luann lowered her eyes, gathering the cards and shuffling them. "I'll bet on Wilber."

"Huh?" Holly was a bit shocked, "Why?"

Luann said, "Because neither of you is betting on him. How embarrassing would that be for him?"

Holly burst out laughing. "You're something else."

Despite not being very intelligent, Holly had always trusted Luann's judgments, so when Luann backed Wilber, Holly was curious about how Wilber would fight back.

Hill checked her phone and kindly reminded, "There's a trending topic."

Holly quickly took out her phone to check. "This method is simple, but it doesn't seem to be effective."

Wilber had just dropped a bombshell of a post, spilling all the tea about his relationship with Juliet. He laid out everything she had done, including the fake marriage and miscarriage. He even attached some pics, like the fake marriage certificate and the miscarriage document Luann had given him.

As soon as it hit the internet, it blew up.

Dawn Talent Agency was super famous, and everyone knew their artists couldn't date without the company's say-so. But now Juliet was exposed as married and pregnant? Fans were losing it.

[Is this slander?]

[No way Juliet did this!]

[That miscarriage document looks so fake. Get some skills, dude.]

[OMG, what does this even prove? There are tons of Juliets out there. What if it was someone else?]

[This guy's just her ex, probably jealous and trying to ride her fame. Typical.]

[Waiting for a clarification.]

Meanwhile, James saw the news and immediately got PR on it. He also called Juliet. "Is this true?"

Juliet was cool as a cucumber, showing no emotion. "No."

James sighed in relief. "Good. If it's not true, it's easier to handle. But what happened to your face? Why are you so beat up?"

Juliet's face was bruised, and there were marks on her neck.

James asked, "Does the director's son have some weird kinks?"

Juliet said, "The company can handle this, right?"

James nodded. "Of course, just these few photos don't prove anything."

Juliet smiled, satisfied. She had already guessed it would go down like this. She didn't know how Wilber got that miscarriage document, but she had covered her tracks well, even getting the doctor to delete the incident from her records. So, even if Wilber went to the hospital himself, he wouldn't find any clues.

Wilber, still fuming from his fight with Juliet last night, had posted everything in a rage without thinking it through. His post got deleted pretty quickly. Not giving up, he kept reposting, sending out a dozen messages in one go. But no one was backing him up.

[First time seeing someone like this, it's terrifying.]

[Bad luck in love, ladies, be careful when choosing a boyfriend in the future.]

Wilber looked at the comments, so angry he wanted to smash his phone. He messed up his hair in frustration, and Luann came to mind.

Wilber thought since Luann had found him, she must be willing to help. So, he hurriedly called her, "Do you have time? Let's meet and talk! You must have seen what's going on with Juliet. Since you gave me that document, you surely won't stand by and watch our Gilbert family suffer, right?"

Luann chuckled lightly. "Wilber, where do you get the nerve to be so wishful? If it weren't for Madeline, do you think I would care about your Gilbert family's mess?"

The call ended.
