Chapter 191 Just Like That
A beauty in his arms.
Waves of her perfume hit Eddy, sending his head into a whirl.
Lately, Holly Weiss... why was she acting so odd?
Way too forward compared to her usual self.
"There you go. Swept off your feet by me, right?" Holly Weiss let go of him, her tone nonchalant, her eyes devoid of any ripple of genuine interest, "So as a trade, you're shopping with me."
Eddy raised an eyebrow, "Is this some kind of forceful transaction?"
"What if it is?" Holly Weiss lifted her delicate chin defiantly, challenging him with her gaze.
Eddy sighed in resignation. "You win. Let's go."
They meandered through the streets, Holly seeking the perfect moment to coax words from him.
"You seem pretty close to Myron Taylor," she prodded.
The mere mention of the name made Eddy get goosebumps. "Don't get the wrong idea; our friendship is normal," he clarified.
Holly nodded, "Got it, got it. Why so defensive?"
"I'm not," he denied, not wanting a repeat of what had gone down with Alvin.
"Hey, you two grew up together, and there were really no other women in his life?" Holly harbored deep doubts about this. The guy was still normal, after all. He couldn't be that devoid of desire, could he?
"None."
If it hadn't been for the appearance of Luann Weaver, Eddy might have really thought there was something off with Myron. But it made sense – the Taylor family was powerful, and the internal politics were incredibly tangled.
Especially the generation with the likes of Watson, constantly plotting for a piece of the fortune. It's all double-dealing and backstabbing.
That’s why Myron had grown up deeply distrusting those around him. And with the arsonist from years ago still at large, he had reasons to be excessively vigilant.
"Ah, but Myron is a decent guy," she sighed, "just a shame about his scars."
"It just feels... mismatched seeing him with Luann," Eddy commented.
Luann knew a doctor who was planning to visit in the next few days. "He'll take a good look at Myron Curtis," she said, "Maybe he'll even get a chance at some reconstructive surgery."
Eddy's gaze drifted. "Myron's scars have been there for years. Do you think surgery would really help at this point?"
"We won't know unless we try," Holly Weiss replied, with a slight lift of her chin. "Tell me more about Myron Curtis."
Eddy gave her a meaningful look. "What's there to say about him? Wouldn't you rather hear about me?"
"There's even less to say about you..." Holly Weiss rolled her eyes. She had wasted so much time and effort, just to learn something from Eddy that no one else knew.
"So why bother asking about Myron Curtis?"
Holly Weiss coughed lightly. "Luann is my best friend, of course I'm asking for her."
Eddy frowned, thoughtful for a moment, under her expectant gaze. "There is something, but he's made me promise never to speak of it."
Holly Weiss's eyes lit up. "What is it?"
"Eh... talking behind Myron's back isn't nice, is it?"
"Oh come on, please tell me," Holly Weiss pleaded, pouting and coyly swinging his arm.
"It's been a while; I have to think..." Eddy's handsome fingers tapped his forehead lightly.
"Maybe some... motivation would speed up the memory."
Holly Weiss's mouth twitched with irritation. "What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean."
Eddy bent down, his eyes level with hers.
Holly Weiss cursed in her head, “Even now, he still tries to take advantage of her!”
Holly Weiss closed her eyes and leaned in to kiss Eddy's forehead.
But suddenly, her lips felt... soft? And warm?
Holly Weiss opened her eyes in shock, only to find Eddy, that shameless man, had taken the opportunity to kiss her?
"Damn it!" She pushed him hard on the shoulder.
"Are you trying to take advantage of me?"
Eddy spread his hands innocently, his beautiful eyes making him look particularly attractive.
"It was mutual."
Holly Weiss rubbed her lips vigorously, the air of annoyance trapped in her chest and unable to dissipate.
With gritted teeth, she asked deliberately, "Can you remember now?"
"I remember now," Eddy nodded. "Myron's mom really wanted a girl. So in the years after Myron Curtis was born, she raised him just like a little lady."
"The first time I saw him, he must've been around four—right, Adolph? He was wearing this fluffy princess dress. I swear I thought he was some upper-crust family's darling daughter. I even went over and planted a kiss on him..."
Holly Weiss was utterly flabbergasted.
"That's it? That's the story?"
"Isn't that wild enough for you? The guy was in dresses for four years."
Holly's mouth twitched, and she let out a couple of forced chuckles.
Kids that young don't have a clue about gender roles anyway...
More importantly, this wasn't even the scoop she was after!
She got taken advantage of and still didn't get the intel she wanted?
"What's with the grim face?" Eddy asked, feigning ignorance.
Holly hesitantly spoke up, "If I'd known it was just that, I wouldn't have kissed you."
"Feeling like you got the short end of the stick?" Eddy asked with a raised eyebrow.
Holly nodded, "A little."
"Well then, how about you kiss me back? That way we're even," Eddy leaned in.
Holly decisively pushed him away and strode forward, putting distance between them.
"Get lost, you old creep, always after the young girl. Dream on."
Eddy lightly touched his lips, as if savoring the moment just passed.
The sky darkened, night enveloping the land without a star in sight.
Luann Weaver eyed the text from Myron Curtis, baffled.
What was this guy up to?
Such mystery...
Luann, dressed in a simple white tee and wide-legged pants, was ready to step out when John stopped her.
"Ma'am, are you going out to dinner with the young master?"
"Yes, he's waiting for me at the restaurant."
John smiled, eyeing Luann's clean and fresh outfit, and suggested, "The young master booked a restaurant this afternoon—I was there. Maybe you should change before you go."
"Is there something wrong with how I'm dressed?"
Luann looked down.
There seemed to be nothing amiss.
John replied with a chuckle, "You look lovely, but this is a date with the young master. You might want to dress up a little more."
Listening to John, Luann blushed and murmured an agreement, "Alright, I'll go change into a dress."
Five minutes later, Luann let her hair down and changed into a white maxi dress.
"Better now?"
"Have a lovely evening, ma'am."
Luann slung her purse over her shoulder and mumbled to herself just before leaving.
"What on earth was going on... Everyt
