Chapter 414 Taking Williams Away

For the Miller family's big 100-year bash, Luann had to head back. Williams totally saw this coming, which was why he was acting all cocky.

"Mr. Curtis," Williams said with a sly grin, "We'd love to have you join us then."

Myron's brow twitched just a bit, his vibe icy. He replied coolly, "I'll be there sooner or later."

Williams just sneered, didn't say another word, slammed the car door, and took off.

Luann watched his car disappear, her pretty face showing clear annoyance. "What's wrong with him?"

Myron gave a small smile and gently ruffled her hair. "It's okay. I did take the Miller family's prized possession. It's only fair to pay them a visit."

Luann was so exceptional that the Miller family didn't want to let her go. Moreover, she had lived with them since birth. While her brilliance was largely due to her high intelligence, the Miller family's dedicated nurturing also played a significant role.

Williams sped down the road like a maniac, other cars honking and swerving to avoid him. He didn't stop until he reached a secluded villa in the countryside.

Inside, the place felt homey. Williams kicked off his shoes, looking towards the kitchen with a grimace. Adolph heard the noise and popped his head out.

His silver-rimmed glasses framed his perfect face, and the apron tied around his waist made him look even slimmer. He waved a spatula, grumbling, "Hey, you're back. Dinner's ready. Seriously, if you're gonna crash here for months, you should spruce the place up a bit. The fridge is just full of booze. Eating out all the time is terrible for you. I made your favorite shrimp, mushroom soup, and salad today. Veggies here are crazy expensive, and there aren't any nearby supermarkets. I had to pay a lot to get them delivered. Here's the bill. Cash or transfer?"

Adolph handed him the bill. Williams' eyes darkened. His voice was low and rough. "How did you get here?"

Adolph shrugged. "By plane, obviously. Had to fly economy, no first-class ticket. It was awful. Anyway, let's eat before the food gets cold."

Adolph turned, grabbed the utensils, and handed them to Williams.

Williams pressed his lips together, saying nothing more.

They sat at the table. Williams suddenly asked, "Is your rib better?"

"Still hurts," Adolph said, touching it and chuckling. "It's rare for you to show concern. I'm touched."

Williams figured it might be a good idea to kick Adolph again once he healed up, just to keep him quiet for a bit.

"Try my cooking and see if I've gotten any better?" Adolph added a shrimp to Williams' plate, waiting for his verdict.

Williams took a bite. "Not bad."

Before Adolph could get too pleased, he added, "But still not as good as Luann's."

Adolph adjusted his glasses, his eyes cold behind the lenses. "Seems like things aren't going great for you here. You've been here forever and still haven't brought Luann back?"

Williams replied calmly, "She's head over heels for Myron now, won't listen to a word I say. But one day, she'll see who really cares for her."

Adolph bit his chopsticks, thinking, 'You should really look at your own issues.'

Williams said flatly, "You're not welcome here. After dinner, get out."

"I'll go, but you have to come with me," Adolph said. "The stuff in Unionia needs your attention. Are you just gonna ignore it?"

Williams frowned. "Isn't that your job?"

Adolph shot back, "Are you serious?"

Williams' face darkened. Adolph quickly waved his hand. "Just kidding. But you know, Dad let you come find Luann on the condition you finish your tasks. Otherwise, you know what happens."

Williams was silent for a moment. "I get it."

Adolph finally relaxed. He got up and secretly sent a message to Luann: [I'll take Williams back.]

Luann replied: [Thanks, Adolph.]

As the sky started to lighten, Mike couldn't sleep. He nudged Wilber awake. "Wilber, I need to go to the bathroom."

Wilber groggily opened his eyes. Last night, Mike had been a mess, crying and fussing, giving him a headache. So he didn't dare take him home, not wanting to upset his parents. Instead, they got a double room at a hotel. But Mike was restless all night, either hungry, thirsty, or needing the bathroom, driving him nuts.

After using the bathroom, Mike said, "Let's go to the hospital now." He didn't want to wait any longer and risk any complications.

Wilber yawned and nodded. If Mike weren't Juliet's dad, and Juliet wasn't carrying his kid, he wouldn't be this patient.

"I'll pick the doctor. I know someone," Mike said eagerly, not wanting to go back to the previous hospital, fearing the doctors there had been bribed by Luann.

"Fine, your call." Wilber put on his coat, quickly washed up, and helped Mike into a wheelchair, heading to the hospital.

After a bunch of tests, they had to wait. Mike thought this would be the start of his escape from misery, but he got a shock instead.

Mike shouted, "Late-stage stomach cancer? How is that possible? You've all been bribed by Luann, haven't you? You're all in on this to deceive me, right?"
