Chapter 477 What's Your Last Name?

A few boys were chewing gum, looking disdainfully at Alvin who was rushing over.

Alvin came in full of anger.

He decisively threw a punch, aiming for a beautiful uppercut.

However, his fist was easily caught.

"Is that all?"

The mocking words came from one of the boys.

Alvin's temple throbbed violently, "You can insult my body, but you can't insult my character!"

"Oh, as you wish. Beat him up!"

Alvin clutched his head and wailed.

"Don't hit the face, ahhh!"

Half an hour later, Alvin's limp body was thrown beside a little girl.

Emily was so scared her eyes went blank.

Seeing those people leave, she finally mustered the courage to reach out her hand towards Alvin's bruised and swollen face, which looked like a pig's head.

Alvin, barely breathing, said, "Don't worry, I'm still alive."

Hearing his voice, Emily's tears started to fall like a waterfall.

She kept making hand gestures, as if she was trying to say something to him.

Alvin wanted to turn his head but had no strength.

He struggled to speak.

"Stop making those gestures, it looks like you're casting a spell, it's making my head spin."

Emily's hands paused, and she immediately stopped moving.

"If I hadn't been starving for days, those guys wouldn't have been a match for me, really." Alvin said this to regain some dignity.

Emily nodded firmly, not doubting the truth of his words at all.

However, her tears continued to flow like an unstoppable flood.

"Hey, stop crying."

Emily pointed to the wounds on his body and shivered.

It seemed she was saying: It must hurt a lot.

Alvin understood this time. He tried to smile, but it pulled at his wounds.

His chapped lips had small cracks, and they were bleeding.

"It's okay, it's okay."

"Alright."

"I'll rest here for a while, you should go."

Emily shook her head vigorously, grabbed his arm, and tried to drag him.

To Alvin's surprise, she actually managed to move him a bit.

Alvin broke out in a cold sweat from the pain.

Those people hadn't gone too hard on him.

But even these superficial wounds were enough to make him suffer.

Emily kept pointing to a distant place, as if she wanted Alvin to go there.

"I really can't, I have no strength."

After Alvin said this, Emily suddenly ran off.

"Weren't you not going to leave me?" Alvin moved his fingers helplessly and sighed after a while, "Forget it, I don't do good deeds for rewards."

In less than ten minutes, Emily came running back, holding something bulky in her arms.

It was two loaves of bread.

They emitted a rich aroma.

Alvin's nose twitched.

Emily immediately handed him the bread, placing it in her left palm and using her right hand to gesture towards her mouth.

This meant she wanted him to eat.

Alvin swallowed his saliva and didn't hesitate, immediately taking the bread and stuffing it into his mouth.

On any other day, he probably wouldn't have even looked at it.

But now, he felt this bread was the most delicious thing in the world!

So tasty!

Seeing this, Emily's pale lips curved slightly, and she looked at him with gentle eyes.

Alvin quickly finished the bread but still felt a bit unsatisfied.

Emily clearly noticed this. She touched her empty money pouch.

Her eyes lowered.

She hid her deep sense of guilt.

This boy had been beaten up for helping her.

Yet she couldn't even fill his stomach.

It was all her fault for being careless, she shouldn't have put the money in the pouch, which was then taken by those bad people.

The money for the buns was placed in her shoe by her grandpa, Trevor Clark, in the morning.

Emily touched his stomach and pointed to the distance.

She wanted to take him home, where there would be food.

Alvin said awkwardly, "You don't mean to take me home, do you? It's our first meeting, moving this fast isn't good."

Emily tilted her head, her eyes filled with innocent purity.

Alvin belatedly realized that this little girl probably didn't understand anything, she looked only about fourteen or fifteen years old.

He shouldn't have said that.

Alvin stood up.

Emily immediately used her small body to support him.

Alvin quickly said, "No need, no need, you just carry your sack."

Emily insisted.

The two walked a long way and finally arrived at a dirty and messy alley.

After walking out of the alley, there were small, shabby houses on both sides of the road.

"Emily's back."

Some people sitting outside on stools greeted Emily.

Soon, they reached the very end.

Alvin swore, in his twenty years of life, he had never seen such a dilapidated place.

The wooden door didn't close properly and creaked when pushed.

Inside, it was a small space of about 200 square feet.

There were two small single beds placed vertically, and the chairs and table were made of scrap wood. There was an old, heavy TV on top, and a radio making noise.

Suddenly, the TV screen showed a lot of white static.

Emily, used to this, went up and slapped the side of the TV several times until it returned to normal.

Alvin was about to speak when he heard a cough.

"Emily."

Emily plugged in the electric kettle, quickly boiled some water, poured it into a cup, and after checking the temperature, brought it over.

Only then did Alvin notice an old man lying on the bed!

But he looked weak, with white hair, and seemed to be in poor condition.

"Who is this?"

Before he could respond, Emily had already started signing rapidly.

Trevor listened and then affectionately patted Emily's head.

"Silly girl, don't trouble yourself for me."

"I won't be around much longer."

Emily shook her head repeatedly, signing.

Grandpa, don't say that.

Trevor smiled and looked at Alvin with loving eyes.

"Thank you."

"If it weren't for you, those people would have bullied Emily again."

Alvin felt a bit embarrassed by his praise.

"You're too kind."

"Besides, I didn't really help Emily."

"Her money was still taken."

Trevor said, "But if it weren't for you, with Emily's stubbornness, she would have tried to get the money pouch back and would have been beaten."

"Hey, what's your name?"

Alvin was stunned.

"Uh, my last name is Weaver?"
