Chapter 34 The Dinner
Mr. Jeff, with his bloated belly, ran excitedly towards Luann Weaver.
The door behind him slammed shut.
He stopped in front of Luann Weaver and took a deep breath, savoring the fragrant air that filled his empty soul.
"My darling! My beauty! I've missed you so much!"
"Since the day I saw you, I can't think or eat, only longing for you every day!"
"Look, I've even lost several kilograms!"
Mr. Jeff spun around, and the layers of his waistband shook violently.
"Your father told me you want to apologize for what happened between us last time?"
This time, the room door was locked from the outside, and Luann Weaver couldn't escape today!
Thinking that such a beautiful woman had become his possession, Mr. Jeff was overcome with excitement.
Luann Weaver nodded calmly.
“Hmm.”
This was exactly what Mike Weaver and Juliet Weaver had come up with!
"Mr. Jeff, I'm sure my father has already discussed the contract with you today, right?"
He slapped the new contract on the table generously.
"The price should be increased by twenty percent based on our previous discussion."
"I will provide the materials you need to Gilbert Group within three days."
Mr. Jeff raised his chin, looking like a cunning merchant.
Luann Weaver had no intention of saving money for Wilber Gilbert, so she nodded decisively.
"Alright, shall we sign then?"
Based on his previous experience, Mr. Jeff wouldn't fall for the same trick twice.
He casually grabbed two glasses and poured the drinks without haste.
The moment he handed the glass to Luann Weaver, a small white pill slipped from between his index and middle fingers and into the drink.
The pill dissolved in the water, disappearing in an instant.
The whole process took less than a second.
"Wouldn't you like a drink first?"
"It's a celebration of our successful cooperation between the two companies."
Luann Weaver took the glass, her wrist slightly shaking, gently swirling the liquid.
She accidentally knocked her phone off the table, causing it to drop to the ground with a bang.
She immediately pouted her red lips, her shining eyes filled with watery innocence as she pitifully said, "Mr. Jeff, I dropped my phone. Can you pick it up for me?"
Listening to her coquettish tone, Mr. Jeff's lips curled up almost to his temples.
He obeyed immediately.
After getting up, he couldn't wait to have a drink with Luann Weaver.
"We've had a drink, can we sign now?"
Luann Weaver handed him a pen.
With a big sweep of his hand, Mr. Jeff signed his name.
He casually threw the pen away and leaned closer to Luann Weaver with a lewd smile.
"My beauty, I...
He had not finished speaking when he felt his vision becoming hazy, his thoughts scattering, and his consciousness being swiftly swallowed up at a rapid speed.
Bang!
Mr. Jeff's head violently slammed onto the table, rendering him unresponsive.
Luann Weaver calmly retrieved the contract and put it back into her bag, heading towards the restroom, saying, "How long are you planning on hide in there?"
The person inside the room trembled, surprised, and cautiously stuck their head out.
"You found out about this?"
"You used X-ray vision, didn't you?"
Luann Weaver lightly tapped her chin with her finger, adopting a lazy sitting posture, unintentionally exuding a hint of charm.
Alvin Curtis kept glancing away, avoiding looking at her.
He scratched his head, still carrying the lingering scent of alcohol.
Ever since he found out that the girl he was pursuing had become his sister-in-law, Alvin Curtis had been a bit melancholic and had been frequenting bars these past few days.
Today, he had finally decided to turn over a new leaf and treat himself well, trying to dispel the lingering gloom from before.
Little did he know that he would hear the news that the restaurant had been fully booked.
He had originally planned to wait for Mike Weaver in the private room, but after a while, an urgent matter arose and he hurriedly attended to it.
Coincidentally, he overheard a conversation between Juliet Weaver and Mike Weaver.
Without hesitation, Alvin Curtis decided to stay behind and help Luann Weaver escape from their clutches, while also trying to improve his favorable impression on her.
But... he was completely useless!
Alvin Curtis had seen enough of Mr. Jeff's drugging tactics in the bar.
He just hadn't anticipated that Luann Weaver would see through it at a glance.
"Just wait, the door is locked and won't be opened for another half an hour."
Luann Weaver pushed a set of new utensils in front of him.
"Eat, don't be polite."
"Alright!"
One hour later.
Mike Weaver and Juliet Weaver opened the door to the private room with anticipation, expecting to see Luann Weaver tortured to the point of fainting.
Instead, they found a young man sitting in the room, whom they didn't recognize, finishing the last piece of chicken leg.
Meanwhile, Luann Weaver was leaning on the sofa playing games.
As for Mr. Jeff, he was still unconscious!
Upon hearing the commotion, Luann Weaver looked at them and stood up.
"Oh, you're back from the restroom. Please continue eating."
"I have other things to do, so I'll be leaving."
Alvin Curtis grabbed a couple of tissues and hurriedly followed him.
Juliet Weaver and Mike Weaver exchanged glances, their minds in a haze.
Eat?
Eat what?
Eat the air?
After leaving the restaurant, Alvin Curtis said to Luann Weaver, "Don't tell my older brother that we met today..."
"Okay, bye now."
...
Luann Weaver placed the contract on Wilber Gilbert's desk just as it was. He picked it up and took a closer look, frowning more and more as he looked. In the end, he was furious.
"You accepted Mr. Jeff's request to increase the price by twenty percent?"
"And signed it?"
"Do you know how much money this twenty percent price difference is?"
Luann Weaver let out a long sigh.
"You are not unaware of the current situation of the company, are you?"
"The factory hasn't started production for a week, because they are waiting for this batch of materials."
"If you think the price is too high, then you don't want it."
"Fine, I'll help you tear up the contract."
Wilber Gilbert's face turned red and his clenched fists trembled slightly. "You!"
Watching Luann Weaver walk away, Wilber Gilbert realized he had no way to deal with her. He calmed his emotions and picked up the phone on the desk, dialing the finance department.
"Pay Mr. Jeff the payment for that batch of goods."
"Alright."
