Chapter 280 He Cherishes Talent
The lush mountain laurels stood straight along both sides of the gravel path, arranged in a picturesque manner.
The emerald bamboo leaves intertwined, blocking out large patches of cold moonlight.
White canvas shoes stepped on the uneven stones with a steady pace.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere in the villa's living room was particularly gloomy.
Ross sat on the sofa, leisurely sipping his coffee.
Beside him was Ann from the White family. Her posture was extremely upright and elegant. Her hands were placed on her thighs, and every movement was just right.
The members of the Curtis family sat on the left side of the sofa, their faces grim.
Only Joshua was playing with his phone absentmindedly.
Lily glanced at him sideways, impatiently reaching out to pat his hand.
If Joshua hadn't held onto the phone tightly, it might have fallen to the ground.
"Only know is play all day!"
"You don't care at all about Emma's situation? What kind of brother are you!"
"Grace is usually busy; I've reminded you many times to take care of Emma more, but you ......" Lily kept cursing Joshua.
Diana sat on the sofa directly facing Vito Curtis, smiling faintly.
"Joshua is still young, and returning to the position of design director, he's inevitably busy all day long." Diana explained.
"Lily, why do you have to be so harsh on him?"
Three large sofas and a main seat surrounded the space, making the whole living room even more oppressive.
Lily smiled insincerely. "This is a family matter for us."
"Lily, you know it's a family matter for you; every time it's so tumultuous, I really don't know if it's the children misbehaving or your lack of parenting skills." Diana looked at her meaningfully.
"If it weren't for Luann Weaver, how could so many things have happened?" Lily frowned.
When Luann's name was mentioned, disgust filled Lily's heart.
"Enough, why are you arguing all days?" Vito Curtis interrupted their apparent confrontation. "Every one of you, senior or junior, can't let me have a moment of peace! You guys are always arguing so intensely, it’s embarrassing. People might start making fun of us."
Initially, with the arrival of the White family, Ann, and Ross, Vito Curtis was already displeased.
What's more, Lily was intractable too; his three children were never easy to let go of!
Ross pushed up his glasses and smiled kindly, like a benevolent teacher.
"Vito Curtis, don't be angry; it's really not a big deal."
"Let's wait for Miss Weaver to arrive. Then we can ask properly. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding."
Lily straightened her back.
She sneered. "Yes, I also hope it's just a misunderstanding."
"Otherwise, I really want to know what evil intentions Luann has!"
Emma stood in the center of these people, head bowed, unconsciously fiddling with her hands.
Vito Curtis saw this and said sternly, "Stand properly!"
Emma trembled in fear.
At that moment, the voice of a servant came from the front hall.
"Mr. Myron."
"Ms. Luann."
Luann linked arms with Myron and walked casually to the left, passing through a 39-feet-long corridor to the living room.
The 19-feet-high French windows reflected the beautiful night scenery outside.
The water surface shimmered with the light, and the precious fish inside leisurely stretched their bodies.
Ann White stood up and greeted them.
After Luann and Myron greeted everyone, their gaze fell on Ross.
Only then did Ross nod casually, with an aloof air, as if he didn't care about them.
Luann lowered her eyes, a hint of subtle sarcasm playing on her lips.
She thought. 'Ross, he's really quite petty.'
When Luann and Myron arrived, Joshua straightened up, and his gaze followed Luann.
Seeing that she was still in good spirits, his suspended heart relaxed a bit.
He thought Luann would be upset about making a big mistake at the company and losing her position as director, but now it seemed the situation was still manageable.
Joshua thought. 'But why should he care about her? Whether she lives or dies, is happy or sad, has nothing to do with him!'
Diana waved to Luann and Myron.
"Come sit here."
Luann sat next to Diana.
A low voice passed between them. "What's going on?"
Before Luann could speak, Ross spoke out loudly.
"I didn't really need to come today."
"If it were any daughter from the Upper West Side, I wouldn't have to bother."
"But I thought Emma was the heiress of the Curtis family."
"And I, being particularly fond of talent, really don't want to see such a talented student quit the art world like this."
Lily nodded. "I understand. Ross is also doing this for Emma's sake."
Ross agreed. And he added. "Emma is achievable; with careful nurturing for two or three years, she can succeed."
"I was thinking of taking her in as my student."
"In other words, she can be Ann's junior."
"What didn't expect me not only was Emma unwilling, she even said she wanted to drop out."
"She only has one year left before graduation; quitting now is really not a wise move!"
"So I asked a few more questions with concern, only to find out that Emma wants to drop out because Miss Weaver promised her to find an excellent teacher to teach her comic art."
"Emma, am I right?"
Emma lowered her head, her red lips tightly pressed together.
Lily turned her head, her gaze was sharp.
"Luann, is what Ross said true?"
Luann nodded casually. She said, "It's true."
A hint of disgust flashed in Lily's eyes.
Grace Curtis immediately sneered.
"Are you intentionally against her?"
"She's about to graduate! Why are you encouraging her to drop out now?"
"Emma is young and naive, foolishly thinking you're helping her."
"But we're not fools!"
Luann smiled lightly, her lips gradually revealing a subtle charm, her beautiful face exuding a captivating beauty.
She asked, "So what?"
Seeing Luann exposed but showing no remorse or guilt, Grace and Lily felt even more annoyed.
"Why did you do this?"
"Do you want to ruin her future?"
"Emma, you see, Luann, whom you like, is just using you and playing tricks with you."
"If you really drop out, how will your future path be?"
"Like that Alvin, who's useless and just lazing around all day?"
Grace's words immediately provoked Alvin's displeasure.
He even stopped playing games.
"Hey, you are scolding Emma, why are you talking about me for no reason?"
"Do you think I'll let you bully me just because my parents aren't here?"
"Besides, I'm at least going to school, okay?"
Even though he skipped class three days a week and was occasionally late on the other two days.
