Chapter 318 The Useless Pawn
he conversation came to an abrupt halt, leaving Grace feeling quite displeased.
"Have we not been friends for so many years? Can't you tell me about it?"
"Ann, you're breaking my heart."
Ann bit her red lips, her youthful face showing a conflict of emotions. Her fingers, gripping the phone tightly, turned slightly pale.
"It does have to do with Luann and Myron. You better see for yourself."
Ann handed her the phone. A pre-prepared video began to play. It was the scene abroad where Myron attempted to throw Ross out of the window.
After watching the entire process, Grace was trembling with fear.
"How dare Myron do that?"
"How is Ross now?"
Ann gently shook her head and said, "I don't know, and I'm very scared. I'm afraid that once we return, Mr. Fu will target Ross even more."
"You saw the situation. Myron probably doesn't want to leave Ross alive."
Grace stared intently at the screen. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, they were filled with decisive resolve.
"You're right."
"Myron is violent. I even suspect he has mental issues!"
"He did this in front of so many people. Once back in the Upper West Side, he will be even more ruthless."
"Ann, you have to think of a way to save your teacher. You can't just watch him fall into Myron's hands, can you?"
Ann covered her face in pain, her delicate body trembling slightly. Two streams of tears flowed down through her fingers. Her low sobs were filled with endless despair and regret.
"I know, I really want to help."
"But I truly don't know what to do."
Grace patted her shoulder and said, "It's simple.let's strike first. You have the video, right? Just expose it, and Myron will face a backlash online! Everyone will be watching to see if he harms Ross."
"It should greatly reduce the risk of harm to Ross. Don't you think?"
Ann looked up at her, her beautiful eyes filled with hope. Grace's idea seemed like a ray of light in the darkness to her.
"Grace, you're absolutely right!"
Grace's eyes flickered. "Send me the video. I'll take care of this for you."
Ann promptly sent it to her.
"What are you planning to do?"
Grace's red lips curved slightly,"It's simple to find a scapegoat."
"Thank you, Grace."
"You're welcome. I'll go handle this now."
"Okay."
After Grace left, Ann took out a tissue and gently wiped the tears from her face.
As she lowered her head, a fleeting look of determination flashed in her eyes.
Her voice remained as gentle and delicate as ever, yet it was like a soft knife, striking fatally.
"For a useless pawn, keeping it will be a disaster."
"Might as well let it shatter."
A plane streaked across the sky and smoothly landed at the airport. Grace leaned against the railing, lost in thought. It wasn't until she spotted a figure that she hurriedly stepped forward.
"Mr. Torres."
Randy heard her and glanced at her. Ever since witnessing Grace and Wilber's public indiscretion in the room last time, Randy's impression on her had plummeted,"Why are you here?"
Grace's smile was bright and captivating as she warmly linked her arm with his, seemingly trying to get closer to him.
"You're back in the country, so I had to come and greet you. Everyone knows you have the best relationship with my grandfather."
Randy subtly withdrew his arm and cleared his throat.
"You're a big shot now. Watch your step. Don't let those sneaky paparazzi catch you and spin their tales. At my age, I can't handle that kind of scandal."
A glint of mystery flickered in Grace's eyes. In the past, Randy would greet her with a beaming smile, openly showing his affection. But now, he seemed to deliberately avoid her.
"You're right," she said.
Grace glanced behind him.
"Didn't your daughter come back with you?"
Randy's daughter had been living abroad for years, and they rarely saw each other. However, they had an agreement that Randy would visit her every year.
"No."
"Please get in the car. We can talk on the way." Grace opened the car door for him.
Randy got in, and Grace immediately handed him a bottle of water.
"Did you know? The global art awards ceremony has already ended."
Randy's curiosity was piqued. During his time abroad, his entire focus was on spending time with his daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, paying no mind to the event. Plus, Avoida was his favorite artist, so without their participation, he didn't give a damn about the awards.
"So soon?"
Grace nodded, "Yes, and the results were quite surprising."
Randy responded, "Then Ross must have returned as well, along with Ann from the White family."
"Yes, they both did quite well," Grace said with a light laugh.
Randy lowered his head and called Ross. After all, they were friends on the surface, and he felt obliged to offer his congratulations. However, he couldn't get through.
"Why isn't he answering?"
Grace said deliberately, "Ross has been missing recently. No one knows where he is."
"Missing?" Randy's eyes sharpened, "What's going on?"
"I don't know either. We're investigating it," Grace replied just as her phone chimed. She casually glanced at it but then gasped and quickly turned the phone away.
Her odd behavior made Randy frown.
"What is it?"
Grace shook her head, remaining silent. Randy snatched the phone from her. The screen was still on, displaying a video.
"Damn it! How could Myron stoop so damn low! It's downright shameful!"
Grace quickly patted his back.
"Let it go, Mr. Torres. My brother is just like that. Let's pretend this never happened. If it blows up, it won't end well for you either."
Randy was furious.
"What do you mean it won't end well? At my age, do you think I'm afraid of him? Besides, Ross is missing, which might be Myron's doing!"
Grace tried to soothe him, "How could that be? My brother knows his limits. He wouldn't go that far..."
"Enough, stop talking!" Randy interrupted her,"Stop the car!"
Grace pretended to call after him. "Don't be impulsive!" But she remained seated, unmoving. She watched Randy got into another car and headed towards the Curtis family. Her lips curled into a high smile.
