Chapter 184 New Song Release

Only when the sound of the car faded away outside the window did Adolph collapse to the ground, deflated. Lifting his palm, he saw two shards of glass embedded in the flesh. He pulled them out emotionlessly, and blood immediately began to flow.

Benjamin hurried over with a cloth he had prepared to cover the wound.

"Are you alright, Mike Weaver?"

"I'm fine."

Benjamin's face reflected sympathy. "The boss's temper has always been so volatile. You weren’t aware of Miss Weaver’s predicament that day, but he's taken to holding you responsible..."

Adolph forced a wry smile and let Benjamin help him up.

"He's just obsessed with having Luann marry his precious son, isn't he? He messed things up himself and has nowhere else to vent, so here he is, bothering me again."

Benjamin, hearing Adolph's irreverent remarks, glanced nervously around.
Glancing around and seeing no one in the vicinity, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"The young master has always been quite fond of Miss Luann. I'm sure she must be aware of it."

Adolph casually took off his silver-rimmed glasses and tossed them to the ground. He began to walk upstairs.

"That's precisely why Luann left," he muttered.

Ben recalled the girl who seemed to light up any place with her presence, and he couldn't help but let out a resigned sigh.

"Miss Luann is beautiful, talented, and capable. It's only natural the young master would take a liking to her."

" Moreover, you two have a history, having grown up together as childhood sweethearts..."

Adolph's brows were knitted tightly.

"Man, if I'd known earlier that my brother had the hots for Luann, I would've intervened sooner."

"Ah well..."

"Just... try to keep the young master in the dark about it, will ya?"

Ben nodded in understanding.

"Ben knows. If the young master were to find out about Miss Luann's dealings with the Curtis family, he would be furious enough to storm over to the Upper West Side."

Adolph sat down in a chair, placing his hands flat on the table.

Ben knelt on the ground, carefully disinfecting Adolph's wound with an antiseptic swab.

"You don't have to be so gentle, just apply it quickly," Adolph said.

With pursed lips, Ben continued to gently apply the antiseptic.

He wondered if the scar would befit the surgeon's steady, skilled hands.

"Should we tell Miss Luann about today's events?" Ben asked.

Adolph's tone was sharp. "Don't tell her."

"Understood."

Luann Weaver was jolted awake by a nightmare.

The sheets next to her were cold.

She idly scrolled through the trending topics on her phone and noticed that the RH Auction House affair had inexplicably shot to the top.

"RH has always been shrouded in mystery, wonder what kind of treasures they'll auction off this year."

Only the head would be privy to such high-level secrets.

"I wonder if he's returned yet," Luann mused to herself.

She sat up in bed.

"If I weren't so tied up with work, I'd love to check out the auction at RH. I haven't attended one in ages..."

Just then, the door opened.

Myron Curtis walked in, his phone's screen still lit.

Seeing that Luann was awake, he seemed surprised.

He glanced at the wall clock.

"Can't sleep?"

"I had a nightmare."

Myron walked over and sat by the bed, gently touching her hair, damp at the roots—indicating she had sweated a bit.

"Don't be afraid, I'll stay with you."

Pause.

"In a couple of days, I'll have to go away for a bit."

"Where to?"

"Abroad."
Myron Curtis was vague, and Luann Weaver didn't inquire further.

"How long will you be gone?"

"If all goes well, I'll be back in two days."

"Alright."

Myron Curtis chatted with Luann Weaver, easing her into sleep.

At dawn, he drove Luann Weaver to her workplace.

Ever since yesterday's incident, Joshua had quieted down, spending an entire day at the office without stirring up any trouble.

This was quite a surprise to Luann Weaver.

She wondered if he had any tricks up his sleeve.

"Silent but surely brewing something big. That guy is not one to give up easily."

From their past encounters, Luann Weaver knew all too well how Joshua preferred to play dirty.

But oddly enough, Joshua was behaving like an angel.

They spent a few peaceful days together without incident.

Her phone buzzed with a message.

Luann Weaver’s gaze drifted from her video game to sneak a peek at the screen. Seeing the message was from Nicholas, she opened it.

"I saw James taking Juliet Weaver to the recording studio."

Luann Weaver stared at the two names for a while before slowly tapping out a response: "Who's James?"

Nicholas knew Luann Weaver wasn't too concerned about this matter, but he didn't expect her to be this indifferent.

"You know, the guy from Talent Management Agency"

"Talent Management Agency? Who's that?"

Luann Weaver smiled lightly: "Why should I fill up my brain with people and events that aren’t essential?"

Nicholas: "Well said! But are you really not going to retaliate? They've gained popularity using the song you sang, and now they're getting ready to release it. Juliet Weaver has gained a few hundred thousand followers these past couple of days."

Luann Weaver nonchalantly popped a chip into her mouth.

"I'm the kindest soul around, how could I possibly stoop to retaliation?"

With that, Nicholas got the gist of how Luann felt.

Inside the recording studio.

Juliet Weaver was singing into the equipment.

The sound engineer listened to Juliet's mediocre and slightly off-pitch singing, shaking his head repeatedly.

Had she not been brought in by James, he would have shown her the door immediately.

After finishing a take, Juliet felt exceedingly pleased with herself.

"How was that? Not bad, right? I think I did pretty well, wasn’t too nervous either."

The sound engineer remained silent.

If that was her definition of "not bad," he had to wonder what she'd think a disaster sounded like.
The sound engineer took a deep breath and asked tentatively, "Wanna give it another go?"

Juliet Weaver obediently sang it once more.

It was identical to the first attempt—no difference, no breakthrough.

Silence filled the studio.

James knew Juliet's measure very well; his command came with authority, "Get an audio engineer in here to tune up Juliet's vocals. Shouldn't be too hard for you guys, right?"

The recording engineer got the message loud and clear—Juliet was definitely not the voice from the video.

Coming out of the studio, Juliet's face was adorned with a contented smile.

"Mr. James, I can't thank you enough."

"Don't mention it. Just wait till the midnight release of the new single, and brace yourself for a wave of new fans."

"Absolutely!"

At the stroke of midnight, Juliet Weaver's debut cover was released online.

Audiences were famished for the full version, especially after hearing Luann Weaver's rendition; no other artist dared to follow that act.

Until now, there had been no female cover of Nicholas's song.

Juliet's cover was the first to emerge .
