Chapter 445 Worry-Free Life
"Chill out," Ryan said, rubbing his temples. "The clues are still fuzzy. You two, who were with Mike the night it happened, are our main suspects."
Juliet wasn't having it. She could tell Ryan was trying to cover for Luann. It was obvious he never even considered her a suspect. "Seriously, you can't just say that. By your logic, Luann spent the most time with my dad. She kept everyone else away. Who knows what she was up to? Why not investigate her?"
Ryan shot back, "Luann's definitely not the one."
Juliet's face went blank. "Well, I'm not the one either. What killer admits they're the killer? This is just unfair."
Her phone buzzed twice. Juliet glanced at it and quickly read the message. She picked it up, looking more confident. "Actually, I think Luann's more suspicious than me. The truth about the Wright family case from twenty-three years ago just came out. Mike messed with their car, causing one death and two injuries, wrecking their family. So can I suspect that Luann came back to the Weaver family for revenge? Makes more sense, right?"
Ryan slammed his hand on the table, trying to look tough like Geoffrey. But it came off a bit childish. "I'm questioning you right now, not letting you debate and point fingers. We'll call in every suspect for questioning. We go by evidence, not logic. From now on, you answer what I ask. Not a word more! Got it?"
Lacking real authority, he just got louder.
Juliet was intimidated by Ryan's outburst. She sat back down, not daring to stir up more trouble.
Luann stood outside the interrogation room, watching Juliet's act. She lowered her gaze, hiding the cold look in her eyes.
After about an hour, Juliet's interrogation finally wrapped up. As she was leaving, she grabbed Ryan's hand and kept insisting, "If there's any progress in my dad's case, you have to let me know right away! Don't let that evil murderer get away!"
Ryan awkwardly tried to pull his hand back, but she held on tight. "Okay."
Once she left, Ryan wiped the sweat from his forehead. He'd been by Geoffrey's side for over a year, but this was his first time handling a case. He'd always watched and learned. When it came to actually doing it, he realized how clueless he felt. Luckily, he had some experience. Otherwise, Juliet might have taken control of that first interrogation.
Ryan said, "Ms. Weaver, I'm sorry. I'm still pretty new at this, and the investigation's been a bit rough. But we're fast-tracking the street surveillance footage. As soon as we get it, I'll send it your way."
Luann gave a gentle smile. "Okay."

One trending topic after another shot to the top. After watching the whole thing unfold, people started venting their anger online.
[Mike deserved it. When he sued Luann for alimony, I knew something was fishy. Luann doesn't seem like someone who'd be strapped for cash. Now it makes sense. He was just trying to hurt her. Who'd want to support an enemy like that?]
[Human greed is seriously scary.]
[The Wright family was huge back then, almost as big as the Curtis family. And he destroyed it. First his wife, then his daughter. Good thing Luann didn't give him a dime. She was right not to!]
[I can't even wrap my head around it. Can someone really be that heartless? Just because he didn't want to join his wife's family, he decided to kill them all?]
[Luann must've known Mike killed her grandfather, right? Did she come back for revenge? Did she kill Mike? That's cold.]
[Hope you can be forgiving when your family gets murdered.]
[Mike ruined the entire Wright family. If the Wright family had kept growing, they'd be as big as the Curtis family today. If it weren't for Mike, Kenneth, Debra, and Shirley would never have died,, and Luann wouldn't have grown up in a village.]
[Honestly, if someone hurt my family, I'd kill them without a second thought.]
[Why would Luann kill Mike? He was already on his way out. If she really wanted to, there are a thousand easier ways. Dying in a hospital would've been better. No need to drag him to a slum and push him off a roof. Some people just love to smear Luann.]
[I feel so bad for Luann. She lost her grandfather before she was born, her mom at five, and her grandma at seventeen. And her dad was behind it all. Reading this breaks my heart. I can't imagine a kid going through so much from birth.]
[Mr. Curtis, you better treat Luann right. She's been through hell.]
Netizens were feeling for Luann.
At that moment, Myron replied with firm resolve: [I will.]
Seeing those words, Myron silently vowed to himself. He'd treat Luann well for the rest of his life, making up for all the love she missed out on and ensuring she lived a worry-free life from now on.
