Chapter 63 Carrying on the Family Line
Ally forced a stiff smile.
"What kind of joke is Miss Luann playing? Marriage is not something to be taken lightly..."
Luann smiled, extremely considerate.
"I'm thinking of Miss Hodge as well. After all, ever since I arrived today, Miss Hodge has been constantly bothering me. Before this, I couldn't understand why, but after hearing Miss Hodge's words just now... I realized that Miss Hodge has always had a deep affection for Myron, that's why she has been antagonistic towards me."
In the air-conditioned restaurant, Ally's back was covered in fine beads of sweat.
It was true that she liked Myron. That much was certain. But that was only before he was disfigured! God knew how much effort she put in to find all the extraordinary beauty treatments after his disfigurement. The quirky excuses allowed her to avoid any contact with Myron. If it caused Lady Diana to change her mind with just a few words...
Wouldn't it be...
"Miss Luann, you misunderstood. Regardless of what happened between me and Myron, it's all in the past."
"Now that you are Myron's wife and the young mistress of the Curtis family, how could I possibly meddle in that?"
"Your suspicion is a bit..."
Myron furrowed his brow, raising his icy gaze with disgust.
An apparent chill spread across his half-perfect profile.
"Are you done talking? Can't even keep your mouth shut during a meal?"
Ally's words got stuck in her throat.
Once she saw that Ally had calmed down, Myron used his chopsticks to pick out a piece of fish and put it in Luann's plate after carefully removing the bones.
Luann whispered her thanks and began eating, completely oblivious to the astonished looks around her.
They couldn't have seen it wrong, right?
Did Myron picked out the fish bones for Luann?!
Isn't fish Myron's least favorite food within the entire Curtis Family? He wouldn't even spare it a glance on ordinary days, so how could he waste his effort picking out bones himself?
After finishing the fish, Luann was about to pick up some vegetables when she felt an unusual atmosphere. She discreetly swallowed her saliva, concealing her mild suspicion behind lowered eyelashes. Myron had never shown such an intimate gesture when they were at home.
Could it be...
He wants to intentionally show off in front of her parents, so they won't question this relationship?
After careful consideration, Luann decided to reciprocate the gesture. So, she followed his lead and picked out a piece of fish for Myron. Diana's eyes flashed with dissatisfaction, ready to speak up.
But Ally beat her to it and said, "It seems that Miss Luann doesn't understand Myron at all. Myron dislikes fish the most."
Luann's expression froze.
Could it be...
Out of over twenty dishes on this table, did she just happen to pick the wrong one?
Even playing Minesweeper doesn't have such a high probability!
While pondering how to smooth things over, Myron calmly finished the fish.
Ally didn't expect him to defend Luann like this and couldn't help but make a sarcastic remark.
A play on words, not sure if it refers to a person or an object.
"Myron, why force yourself to eat something you don't like?"
Myron's cold gaze remained void of any warmth, as icy as thousand-year-old ice, instantly dissipating all the heat in the room.
His intense stare gave Ally goosebumps all over her body.
Myron's thin lips slightly parted, and he slowly uttered his words.
"People change, and so do their tastes."
Ally's chopsticks fell with a loud clink onto the table, skimming across the edge of the plates.
Watson's brow furrowed slightly as he tried to defuse the tension.
"If you like fish, I'll make sure the kitchen prepares more next time."
In the midst of silence, Alvin was the only one who stood out from the atmosphere. He couldn't stand the oppressive mood and hurriedly shoveled food into his mouth, intending to make an excuse and leave as soon as he finished eating. Ally also seized this opportunity.
"It's getting late, I should go back early."
"Please take your time, Uncle and Aunt. I'll take my leave first."
"Alvin, could you give me a ride?"
Alvin's legs froze in mid-air, his face full of reluctance.
"Don't we have a driver? Why ask me to drive you home?"
Ally grabbed his arm and pulled with force.
"Come on, let's go."
After the meal, the remaining four sat on the sofa and watched TV, chatting casually.
"There has been quite a lot of news about you online recently. I looked when I had the time. I never expected a young girl who had been living in the countryside for so many years to have such abilities."
"It seems my son is lucky to marry such a wonderful girl like you."
Watson's dignified face showed a hint of a smile.
"You flatter me." Luann sat quietly, her smile shy.
Watson cleared his throat.
"The Curtis Group has been busy, so we didn't have time to visit you."
"After some time, let's gather both families together and have a nice meal to get to know each other."
Luann nodded, "Okay."
Watson glanced at the expressionless Myron and picked up his teacup to take a sip.
"Luann, Myron is already twenty-eight this year."
"We only have this one son."
"As for continuing the family line, you should start considering it."
Luann raised her panicked eyes, blinked twice in confusion, and her snow-white face turned visibly red!
Giving birth... to a child?
Myron's cold voice said, "Luann is still young, there's no rush."
Watson chuckled lightly, "Hey, why not rush? Your mom had you when she was twenty-three, and she was pregnant at just the right time."
"You'll recover your figure quickly while you're still young."
Luann's lips twitched.
Why does it feel strange that these words are coming from my father-in-law's mouth...
Diana interrupted the topic directly, "They just got married, and their foundation of love isn't stable yet. What's the use of rushing to have a child? Are they preparing to fight for child custody in the future?"
Watson was displeased with her rebuttal, "Can't you say something nice?"
"You can plug your ears and pretend not to hear," Diana said, standing up and walking towards the stairs without looking back. "Luann, come with me."
Luann stood up and followed her.
In the bedroom, Diana gestured for her to sit.
"Please, have a seat."
Luann calmly sat in front of her with a gentle smile.
"Aren't you going to talk to me?"
Diana picked up a teapot, poured two cups of tea, and pushed one towards Luann. Luann maintained a serene expression, unaffected by the question. It had already been expected what her question would be.
"You've already researched it thoroughly, haven't you?"
Diana's knuckles turned slightly white as she gripped the teacup, her gaze revealing a hint of curiosity.
"In that case, I won't beat around the bush. I found out that What is your purpose in marrying Myron?"
