Chapter 276 Wilber Disappears
Luann's breathing instantly became erratic.
Myron noticed the change in her mood and, lowering his head, caught a glimpse of the hurriedly dimmed screen of her phone, reflecting a hint of tension.
Myron calmly took in every nuance of her expression.
"What's wrong?" Luann's voice was muffled as she buried her head in his shoulder.
"It's nothing. Let's go home," Luann replied, her voice heavy with hidden emotions.
"Alright," Myron replied.
"It's been five minutes," Benjamin said calmly.
In the dimly lit room, a figure sat in a large chair, concealing their entire form.
Adolph stood by Benjamin's side, supporting him.
"Maybe Luann is just busy and couldn't reply," Adolph interjected with a forced smile.
"Should I give her a call later?" The chair swiveled around, and Benjamin's stern gaze met Adolph's.
Adolph's smile faltered, unable to meet Benjamin's eyes.
"Luann is grown now and doesn't always listen to me," Benjamin said nonchalantly. "Adolph, you've always understood my intentions. I've never liked to force Luann. But I would be angry if she goes against my original wishes."
Adolph forced a smile. Though Benjamin said he wouldn't push Luann, his actions spoke otherwise.
"She's been with the Curtis family for so long but hasn't brought back any useful information," Benjamin remarked.
Adolph's gaze shifted. He said, "If the Curtis family has any secrets, they won't be easily discovered.
"Especially since Myron isn't someone we can easily get information from."
Benjamin added, his gaze deep and meaningful. "Is that so? Luann has been with him day and night, and it's inevitable that..."
Adolph's stern look cut off Benjamin's words. "Sir. Haven't you look the photos that Holly sent?"
"Myron is extremely unattractive; how could Luann possibly be interested in him?"
Adolph glanced at Benjamin. Benjamin immediately took out his phone and showed him the photo.
Benjamin looked at it intently for a while before finally putting it down. Then he said, "But if what you said is true, and the Curtis family's secret are hard to uncover, I'll bring Luann back sooner."
"Otherwise, there will be more troubles."
"Yes." Adolph replied.
"You can go now." Benjamin escorted Adolph out.
"Adolph, about Luann..." Benjamin said. Adolph's face was serious, and he adjusted his glasses.
"I wanted to protect Luann more, but I'm afraid..." Adolph said.
Benjamin nodded. He asked, "What should we do now? You know Luann’s temper. She is stubborn."
Adolph furrowed his brow in frustration. "Tell her what Sir means, but I can't get involved in what she decides; it's up to her.
"Alright." Benjamin replied.
Luann checked the messages on her phone, her face gloomy and serious.
"Why are you standing there?" Myron asked.
The sudden voice made Luann tremble, and she quickly turned off her phone, visibly nervous as she faced him.
"It's nothing." Luann replied.
Myron seemed believed her words and just smiled gently. "Aren't you going to take a shower?"
"Right away." Luann hurried to the bathroom, holding her phone.
Myron said softly, "Don't you find it is inconvenient to hold your phone?"
Luann paused and put her phone down.
"I'll go then." Luann said.
"Okay." Myron said.
The bathroom door was closed, and Luann leaned over the sink, turning on the tap. She splashed some water on her face, looked at herself in the mirror, and whispered to herself, "What should I do?"
On one side "as her foster father, who had raised her for many years, and on the other was the man she loved. She was caught in the middle, torn between the two.
Myron walked slowly to the table and picked up Luann's phone. Then he entered the password.
Incorrect.
He tried again.
Incorrect.
Myron thought for a moment and entered his birthday numbers.
The password was correct.
A barely visible smile appeared on Myron's lips as he opened the message and read it. His slender fingers tapped on the screen, typing out a response.
[Myron's identity was not as simple as it seems on the surface, and it seems to have some connection with foreign forces."] After sending the message, Myron deleted it and put the phone back in its place.
By the time Luann came out, Myron was already asleep.
She lay down beside him and slowly moved closer, wrapping her arms around his waist from behind.
After finishing the photo shoot for "Starlight Group" magazine, Luann and Myron returned to the Upper West Side.
When the plane landed, Luann opened her phone and saw several missed calls from Wilber Gilbert. She called back. It rang twice, and he answered.
"Luann! Is Wilber with you?" Mrs. Gilbert asked anxiously.
"No," Luann replied.
Mrs. Gilbert's voice gradually vanished, replaced by anxiety and worry.
"I don't know Wilber has been lately; he hasn't contact me for these days.
"I go to his company to find him. But the employees say he hasn't been there in the past few days.
"Do you think something happened to him?"
Luann said, "He's not a child anymore; he should have his plans."
"But he contacts us every other day! Luann, I'm really worried. I want to call the police!" Mrs. Gilbert's voice filled with panic.
Luann responded, "Okay."
"If you see Wilber, be sure to contact me!" Mrs. Gilbert said.
"Got it." Luann replied.
After hung up the phone, Luann looked at the man beside her.
"Did Grace take action?" Luann asked.
Wilber's sudden disappearance was definitely not a coincidence.
Myron must have noticed the situation.
"Yes."
"How is he?"
Myron's eyebrow frowned, he asked, "Are you worried about him?"
Luann shook her head decisively.
"No, I'm just curious about it. I want to know what Grace has done."
"He won't have any children in the future," Myron said, making it clearer, "and he won't do any intimate thing with woman." Luann felt shocked.
Although she knew that Grace would not easily let go of Wilber, she didn't expect that Grace would be so ruthless.
"Like Mr. Jeff?" Luann asked.
Myron nodded.
Luann sighed, "Indeed, the Curtis family is not to be underestimated."
"I wonder if Juliet can still accept Wilber after this," Luann said. "But Wilber will definitely not let her know; I guess Juliet is still in the dark."
Myron looked at Luann's cunning expression and knew that she must have a plan.
"Wilber is so badly injured, he can't be left alone." Luann said.
Downtown Hospital.
VIP ward.
Wilber lay in bed, pale and weak.
He tried to sit up and reach for a glass of water on the bedside table.
However, the ward door was pushed open with a bang. Holly walked in, looking extremely worried. "Wilber, are you okay?"
Wilber seemed surprised by her sudden visit. His hand trembled, and the cup he was holding fell to the ground with a crash.
