Chapter 71 Who’s in Charge
Myron went back and forth, rereading their conversation several times. In his deep eyes, a coldness combined with resentment, imprinting every word in his mind. Eddy felt the burst of killing intent from Myron and shivered.
"Come on, bro, you're even jealous?"
"We agreed it was just a demonstration, just a demonstration!"
"So, did you learn... anything?"
Myron coldly nodded, giving a monotone response.
"Yeah."
"Simple."
Hearing him say that, Eddy rolled his eyes as if he could already foresee the bleak outcome.
After finishing with Luann, Eddy finally brought up the real matter.
"What are your chances of winning the bid?"
Myron's aura suddenly turned cold, his expression becoming serious.
"I must get this piece of land."
Eddy spread out the four company profiles in his hand, flipping through them slowly, one by one. When flipping through the information of the last company, the position of the CEO was empty, without a photo, and even the name column was missing.
"Which one of you two is trying to be exposed first? You both can't stand it."
"The other party is also investigating your identity non-stop, but unfortunately, they haven't found a single clue yet."
Myron spoke indifferently, "The land for this bidding is extraordinary, and the price is not cheap."
"For such an important matter, their CEO will definitely personally step forward."
Eddy nodded, filled with boundless emotion.
"Hopefully, the two of you have been secretly snatching a lot of projects, it's about time you met each other."
...
The alarm clock rang annoyingly too early in the morning. Luann reluctantly rolled over in bed, wrapping herself up like a cocoon with the blanket. It wasn't until the alarm clock rang for the third time that she dragged her tired body out of bed to get ready.
By the time she came downstairs, everyone else was already gathered.
"Just now, Alisha said for us to go ahead and wait for her at the venue."
"Yeah, there's not enough space for everyone in one car, let's go ahead, it wouldn't look good to be late!"
Luann got in the car with a few people, and no one spoke inside the car, probably because of the awkward incident during dinner yesterday.
Soon, they arrived at Page Group and were led into an office, leisurely awaiting Dylan's arrival.
"It's almost nine o'clock, why hasn't Alisha arrived yet?"
"Yeah! Quickly give Alisha a call!"
"I did, she said she's stuck in traffic, and doesn't know when she'll be able to get here."
"What should we do then? Without Alisha, how can we discuss?"
"Well... Alisha said she might not make it, so she suggested Luann try to buy some time and have a simple talk with Dylan first..."
Luann was pressing her phone when she heard the voices, and she looked up.
Her face was bare without any makeup, no signs of morning puffiness, her skin looking astonishingly good, fair and rosy.
"I won't do it."
Luann said decisively.
Immediately, the others sarcastically commented, their tones filled with a strange irony.
They wished they could trample Luann under their feet.
"Is Alisha out of her mind? Luann is just a pianist, not someone to discuss cooperation with."
"I really don't know what Alisha is thinking."
Yesterday, Luann scolded all of them, so naturally, they wouldn't miss this opportunity to humiliate her.
But Luann wasn't angry. She propped her chin with her hand and smiled lightly.
"If you're so capable, why don't you talk to Dylan?"
"With such a gift of gab, if you used it on actual work, perhaps you would have been promoted and had a raise by now."
The woman who was being scolded was about to get angry when there was some movement at the door.
Dylan walked in, his gaze scanning over them before finally landing on Luann.
Their eyes met for a moment before quickly breaking apart.
"Where's Alisha?"
Dylan sat down opposite them and asked.
"Alisha is caught in traffic, she asked us to talk about the cooperation with you first."
Dylan pondered for a moment and made an affirmative sound.
“Sorry, I only want to talk to Alisha. If she's stuck in traffic, I'll wait for her and talk when she arrives.”
Everyone felt embarrassed but didn't dare say anything.
Luann tapped her fingers lightly on the table and spoke sharply, "Mr. Dylan has quite an attitude."
The person sitting next to Luann hurriedly pulled her back and desperately gestured with her eyes.
What is Luann thinking!
If the collaboration fails, Gilbert Group will be done for!
Dylan didn't expect Luann to openly confront him and couldn't help but laugh. His smile was mocking, and every word he spoke was sharp. His words were full of disdain, portraying an aloof demeanor.
"It's not that I have a big attitude, it's that you all lack the capability."
"Besides Alisha, which one of you can discuss cooperation with me?"
"Since you asked, I might as well ask you too. What position do you hold in your company? How many successful projects have you negotiated? How much profit have you brought to the company?"
"If it weren't for Alisha, do you think I would give you the opportunity to meet me? I am doing this because of Alisha's face, not your company's reputation."
Everyone clenched their fists in anger.
Luann chuckled softly, her voice gentle, yet capable of easily arousing anger.
"Mr. Dylan’s tone is so grand. If someone didn't know better, they would think Mr Dylan already holds the position of president, surpassing thousands of others in the Page Group."
Dylan's face turned slightly red, and he was about to get angry.
The door was suddenly slammed open.
Carlton entered with a tired expression, full of apologies.
"Sorry, Dylan. My friend speaks very straightforwardly, don't take her too seriously."
Carlton's sudden entrance stunned everyone.
Dylan was also briefly taken aback, then he cast a probing glance between Luann and Carlton.
He smiled.
"No wonder you are so confident. It seems someone is supporting you from behind."
Implied was the suggestion that the two of them had a different kind of relationship.
Carlton patted Dylan's shoulder and didn't refute.
"Yeah, that's right. I'm given some face."
"Forget it, I won't argue with a little girl."
Carlton let out a sigh of relief.
His work overseas relied on Dylan's support.
Luckily he arrived in time, otherwise...
Carlton sat next to Luann and whispered softly to her, "This is not a music temple, it's not a place where you can do whatever you want. A little carelessness could affect the entire collaboration and development. It's probably your first time negotiating this kind of collaboration, so it's normal to not understand. It's okay, just be more careful next time."
Luann rested her chin in her hand, her eyes captivating.
"You should focus your extra attention on your wife."
"She's about to be….
"Moreover..."
Luann met Dylan's gaze, and her vast, starry eyes were filled with a coldness.
"Just because you're just a small manager, you think highly of yourself?"
