Chapter 495 Two Gifts
Jones furrowed his brow, a rare look of seriousness on his face.
He glanced at Adolph.
Cold and desolate.
He knew about Adolph's reckless actions on RH's turf. At the time, he had no intention of helping. If it weren't for Luann, how could Adolph be standing here so calmly now?
Adolph felt Jones' gaze and adjusted his glasses.
His attractive upturned eyes narrowed slightly.
"Please let Barlow in," Jones said, standing up and walking to the door to greet him.
Williams and Adolph instinctively stood behind him, one on each side.
Seeing Myron not moving, Williams turned back and said coldly, "Why aren't you coming over? There's no good outcome if you provoke someone you can't afford to."
Adolph nudged Williams.
"Forget it, Williams. Just let him stand there."
Adolph had a vague suspicion in his mind.
Back then, f had mysteriously entered RH wearing a mask, and under everyone's watchful eyes, had taken the Pink Star without anyone noticing.
Anyone who could sit in Box No. 1 must have an extraordinary identity.
Moreover, he and Benjamin had speculated whether this f had any connection to RH.
Anyway, this f was definitely not an ordinary person.
However, Adolph hadn't told anyone that Myron was f.
Williams looked at Adolph with displeasure.
Adolph immediately defused the situation.
"If Myron disrespects Barlow like he did Jones, we'd be in big trouble."
"Let him stay with Luann; at least she can keep him in check."
Williams frowned slightly.
He thought it made sense.
Since Myron was already in the Miller family, he could deal with him anytime.
No need to rush while Barlow was here.
Seeing Williams finally stop causing trouble, Adolph quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Being an older brother was really a headache!
But as long as he could see Luann happy, it was all worth it.
Soon, the butler brought in Mr. Barlow.
Barlow was wearing a black tailcoat, very thin and tall, standing there like a pole.
His light chestnut hair fluttered casually.
Behind him were two people carrying boxes.
"Mr. Bartlett."
Williams stepped forward first, raising his voice with a hint of excitement.
But Barlow didn't even look at him, walking straight past to Jones, with a faint smile.
"How have you been, Mr. Miller?"
Williams stood there awkwardly, but he understood that Barlow, who controlled the mysterious and powerful RH, had every right to be arrogant.
"Pretty good," Jones said, his lips curling up. Unlike his usual stern face, he actually had a bit of a smile.
Though it was a rather awkward smile.
"Please come in."
They all went inside.
Jones and Barlow sat down in chairs.
"What brings you here today, Mr. Bartlett?"
Barlow leisurely took a sip of tea.
"On someone's orders, I had to come personally."
"Oh?" Jones' eyelids twitched.
Barlow's words made Williams and Adolph's hearts skip a beat.
On someone's orders?
With Barlow's status, he could walk sideways in Aeldora, and yet someone could command him?
Barlow sighed, "It's quite a journey to come all this way."
Jones couldn't help but ask, "It seems Mr. Bartlett has a good relationship with that person."
Barlow shook his head.
"No, I wouldn't say it's good."
"I'm just a messenger at best."
Williams and Adolph gasped.
The mighty RH boss was just a messenger.
If this got out, how many people would be shocked?
Jones was also stunned, but his reaction was better than the other two.
He nodded thoughtfully.
"May I ask who this person is?"
Barlow sat upright, but his eyes inadvertently glanced at Myron.
"He, ah, handed RH to me and barely comes back once a year. Mr. Miller, you tell me, is that how a boss should act?"
Jones was stunned.
What did that mean?
Boss?
Could it be that Barlow, who had been running RH for years, was just a puppet?
"Look at me, talking too much when I'm happy. Don't take it to heart," Barlow seemed to realize belatedly, lightly patting his own lips.
Jones' mind was in turmoil.
He forced a smile.
"So RH has another boss?"
Barlow nodded, "Yes, back then, we fought several times for this position, but unfortunately, I didn't win."
Williams was extremely shocked, "You lost? I remember years ago, it was said that you single-handedly wiped out a faction. How could you lose?"
The person who could beat Barlow.
Must be even more formidable?
Barlow chuckled mockingly.
"A faction is nothing. Eight years ago, when RH was founded, many people caused trouble, and it was our boss who dealt with them. Since then, no one has dared to mess with us."
Barlow's words sent chills down everyone's spine.
They knew.
RH, as the largest auction house, had a very mysterious force behind it, always handling tricky situations perfectly.
Anyone who had caused trouble there, no matter how noble, disappeared overnight.
As if they had evaporated from the world.
They had thought it was RH's force at work.
"Alright, I won't waste any more time," Barlow's fingers moved slightly.
The two people behind him stepped forward and opened the boxes with a click.
Adolph then noticed that the plain-looking boxes were intricately hand-carved with patterns, the exquisite craftsmanship paired with rare wood. Even the empty boxes could fetch a high price on the market.
Everyone's eyes were immediately drawn to them.
In the left box was an exquisitely crafted wing-shaped pendant, with distinct feather patterns, clearly a fine item.
In the right box was a key about the length of an adult's palm, with rusty marks, seemingly unused for years.
"What does this mean?" Jones was confused.
Williams and Adolph were even more puzzled.
Barlow smiled lightly.
"Our boss asked me to convey a message: Would Luann be willing to go back with him and become his wife?"
Jones, Williams, and Adolph were very shocked!
