Chapter 83 Nightmares
Creak—
Myron walked in.
He sat on the chair without hesitation.
Casually, he picked a magazine up from the side table, flipping through it absentmindedly.
The air was unusually quiet.
Even the breathing couldn’t help but slow down.
Luann picked up the empty water cup on the bedside table, looking at the water jug far away from her.
She had to speak up, “Could you pour me a glass of water?”
Myron remained silent, got up, and did as she asked.
Luann touched her nose lightly, her pair of almond eyes wide open, unable to conceal her embarrassment.
Isn’t it strange for two people to be in a room without a single word or interaction?
To make matters worse, not long after Luann finished drinking the water, she felt the need to use the bathroom.
Quietly moving towards the bedside, her uninjured leg was pulled out from under the blanket, and Myron, who rarely spoke, frowned.
“Don’t move around.”
"Stay put."
Luann didn't say a word and placed her foot on the ground, about to use her hand to support herself and get up from the bed.
Myron suddenly stood up, forcefully pressing down on her shoulder.
With a condescending aura of oppression, his face darkened, and there was a hint of displeasure in his tone.
“Luann, can’t you just obediently listen to me?”
Luann tilted her head up, her exquisite eyes showing no fear, tinged with a hint of grievance.
“A person can’t hold it in.”
Myron hesitated for a moment, his throat emitting a light cough.
The overbearing presence suddenly softened.
“I’ll help you over there.”
"No need!" Luann had her hand by her side, avoiding the man's attempt to hold her. "I can do it by myself."
“If you get seriously injured, you won’t spend just three days in the hospital.”
After Myron finished speaking, he lifted Luann bridal style and carried her to the attached bathroom in the hospital room.
He waited outside for her.
After using the bathroom, Luann lay back on the bed, deciding not to eat or drink in order to avoid another embarrassing situation.
But little did she know, Myron bought a bunch of food in the evening, including her favorite dessert.
After eating and drinking to her heart's content, Luann comfortably leaned against the back of the bed.
Just then, a soft knock sounded on the door.
Eddy cautiously poked his head in from outside, his gaze scanning around carelessly.
Until he came full circle, where he met a pair of cold eyes.
Myron glanced at him coldly, “What are you doing here?”
"I'm afraid you, the young master, won't take care of people. I came over specifically to take a look." Once discovered, Eddy confidently walked in, looking at Luann's feet, "Feeling better?"
“Much better.”
Eddy breathed a sigh of relief and a charming smile appeared on his face as he was about to speak.
Beside them, a cold and ethereal voice sounded, pleasant to the ears but carrying a sense of danger.
Myron sat there, casually raising his gaze, as if his eyes could see through everything, locking onto Eddy.
“You’ve seen enough.”
“You can leave now.”
"It's getting late, Luann should rest. Don't disturb her."
Luann silently glanced at the clock, which had just passed eight o’clock.
Eddy's mouth twitched, his eyes widened.
“Big brother, can’t you give me a chance to make up for my mistakes?”
Myron pondered for a moment upon hearing this, then suddenly stood up and grabbed Eddy by his collar, dragging him towards the exit.
Eddy emphasized his tone.
“As long as you don’t make me stay here for a month, I’ll do anything you ask.”
Myron calmly said, "Then investigate the identity of the man related to Luann."
Eddy felt confident.
“No problem, leave it to me!”
"Investigating someone's identity is something I excel at!"
...
The night wind and rain came with great force.
Strong winds blew, dark clouds gathered.
Rain fell on the leaves, making a rapid and dense sound.
Myron shifted on the sofa, trying to get comfortable for sleep.
Just as he was about to enter dreamland, a faint whimpering sound suddenly rang out.
Myron's eyes snapped open, and he glanced at the bed.
Bathed in the cool moonlight, he saw the blanket trembling slightly.
Myron swung his long legs off the sofa and quickly got up to go to the bedside.
“Luann?”
Luann's face was pale, her hands tightly gripping the edge of the blanket, her knuckles turning white from exertion.
Her eyebrows furrowed, a layer of sweat appeared on her forehead.
Her lips trembled, murmuring in pain.
“Don’t...”
“Leave me...”
Myron sensed that Luann seemed to be having a nightmare, so he immediately switched the bedside lamp on and gently patted her shoulder.
“Luann, wake up.”
Luann's beautiful features twisted, as if she had encountered something terrifying in her dream.
Tears welled up in her eyes and flowed down, not in loud sobs, but in a heart-wrenching manner.
“Don’t go...”
Luann pleaded in a meek voice.
Myron slowly and gently pried her fingers open, his voice warm and magnetic.
He leaned down, whispering in her ear as if he was drunkenly mumbling.
“I won’t leave.”
“I’ve always been here.”
Those words became a lifeline, firmly grasped onto by Luann.
She reached her arms out and instinctively hugged Myron's waist.
Myron let out a long sigh and lay down beside her.
Luann was like a little cat, immediately snuggling up to him, finding warmth in his embrace.
Warmth.
Myron embraced her, one hand stroking her hair, the other gently tapping her back like soothing a baby, comforting her with a string of consoling words.
Soon, Luann stopped crying and gradually regained her composure.
...
A loud and disturbing ringtone interrupted.
Luann, bleary-eyed, reached under the pillow and found her phone. She brought it to her ear and mumbled a greeting.
“Luann!”
“Which hospital are you staying at?”
“I’ve arrived in the US, I’m coming to find you now!”
Luann's drowsiness disappeared instantly.
“Holly? How...”
Holly cut her off, full of excitement.
“Don’t say much! Quickly tell me the address! We can talk when we meet!”
The phone had poor reception, and Myron, who had just bought breakfast and placed it on the table, could hear every word quite clearly.
He calmly said, "Eddy said he wants to come too, why don't we have him pick your friend up on the way?"
Luann nodded and handed the phone over to Holly.
Holly hung up.
She was pulling a large suitcase when she walked out of the airport and immediately spotted a familiar car.
Before she could reach it, the car door opened and a handsome man emerged.
“Tired?”
Holly approached leisurely. "Someone was willing to spend a fortune on buying me a first-class ticket, so I had a delightful journey. They definitely made a profit from the airline."
Adolph smirked and looked her up and down.
“Too bad no matter how much you indulge, you can only develop horizontally.”
Holly clenched her fists and threateningly swung towards his face.
“You’ll be dead if you don’t stop mocking my height!”
Adolph took a step back and handed her his phone.
“By the way, remember to return my phone when you see my darling Luann.”
Holly looked puzzled, completely confused.
“You’re already in the US, why didn’t you go yourself? Why bother calling me here when you have nothing to do?”
Adolph leaned lazily against the car, took his glasses off, and pulled a handkerchief out from his pocket to wipe them meticulously.
Lowered long lashes blocked the sharpness in his eyes.
“I would love to, but unfortunately, my baby’s husband and lover are there. I have no choice but to avoid them for now.”
