Chapter 498 Helping to Raise a Child

The Miller Mansion.

Adolph checked his watch and felt it was about time.

He went downstairs and saw Jones sitting on the sofa, deep in thought.

Before he could reach him, he heard Jones's impatient voice: "Didn't I tell you all to get lost?"

Adolph said quietly, "I have something important to report."

"Speak," Jones said irritably.

"Williams seems to have gone to RH," Adolph said softly.

Jones's aura instantly froze, and the next second, it exploded around him!

"What did you say!"

Jones stood up abruptly, his face full of disbelief.

Adolph lowered his head, hiding a gloating smile at the corner of his mouth, and said calmly, "I just got the news. When Williams left the Miller family, I didn't know he was going to RH. By the time I tried to stop him, it was too late."

"That idiot!" Jones raged, "How long has he been gone?"

"About an hour or so," Adolph replied.

"It's been that long, and you're only reporting it now!" Jones swung his hand forcefully, and a delicate cup shattered at Adolph's feet.

Adolph didn't move.

His expression remained unchanged.

"You know, in this house, I wouldn't dare to meddle in Williams's affairs. And Williams wouldn't tell me about his whereabouts."

Adolph's tone was indifferent.

But hidden within it was mockery and sorrow.

All these years, Adolph's life wasn't much different from Holly's.

Although Jones had carefully nurtured both Williams and him, he was ultimately someone Jones had picked up, not someone to be cherished.

He didn't have Williams's high talent; many things he had learned through sleepless nights.

He had fought desperately to complete the tasks Jones assigned, becoming a feared assassin known as Z.

But even so, he was still a pawn that Jones could discard at any time.

Hidden under his sleeve were new wounds from Jones's recent angry punishments.

"Take some men and bring him back!" Jones ordered angrily.

The phone on the table suddenly rang.

Jones picked it up.

Barlow's laughing voice came through.

"Mr. Miller, you better keep an eye on your people. Next time, what we send back won't be so intact."

Jones's heart sank.

The call had already ended.

The butler's voice came from outside the door.

"Jones, Williams has been sent back!"

Williams was covered in wounds and had already fallen into a coma.

Jones hurriedly had him carried upstairs and asked Adolph to examine him.

Luann and Myron stood to the side, feeling somewhat worried.

But she still believed what Myron had just told her.

After a thorough examination.

Adolph said, "They're all minor injuries, nothing serious. He'll be fine after a few days of rest."

Jones let out a long sigh of relief.

His forehead was covered in cold sweat.

"RH spared his life."

Adolph bluntly pointed out, "Mr. Miller, it's not that RH spared his life, but that RH let Williams go for Luann's sake. From the time RH was established until now, has anyone who trespassed ever come out alive?"

Jones's throat tightened.

He didn't say another word.

When Williams woke up, it was already dark.

"You're awake."

A suppressed, hoarse voice came from the corner.

Williams sat up, his whole body aching, but he could feel there were no major injuries.

"Father."

The room was pitch black, not even a light was on.

But Williams still keenly sensed Jones's presence on the sofa.

Something flew towards him.

Williams didn't dodge.

It was an ashtray.

It hit him on the head.

Instantly, his skin broke and blood flowed.

"Williams, look at the stupid thing you've done!"

Williams pressed his thin lips together, struggling to speak after a moment, "I couldn't just watch Luann be married off like that. First, she married Myron, and now she has to go to RH. She's the little princess we've all cherished, so why should she be sent around like this? What is this!"

The next second, his collar was grabbed.

His fragile throat was harshly constricted by a hand.

"Do you know, we now have no chance to negotiate with RH."

In the sparse moonlight, Williams saw the pallor on Jones's face.

Completely bloodless.

He was stunned.

"What do you mean?"

Jones enunciated each word: "Do you think you came back alive by chance? This is a life you owe RH, do you understand?"

Williams's head buzzed.

It was like a heavy hammer had struck the back of his head, and he suddenly understood everything.

Jones's shoulders slumped, and he sat there weakly, looking like he had aged ten years.

"RH has grown to this point; its leaders must be ruthless and violent," Jones's voice was dry. "Rather than that, it's better to let Luann find her happiness with Myron. At least she likes him."

Now it's all ruined.

Everything is ruined.

The plan he had cherished for years, to make Luann his daughter-in-law, was gone.

He might even have to send Luann into a hopeless abyss.

He really didn't know what to do.

Jones closed his eyes, his fingers digging into his hair, pulling hard.

"I've ruined Luann," Williams murmured, "I've cut off her last escape route."

Jones's eyes were empty, "While you were unconscious, Barlow called. In three days, their boss is hosting a banquet, and he will introduce his wife to all of Aeldora..."

Williams opened his dry, cracked lips but couldn't make a sound.

"As for you, you'll be punished for three days. Take this time to calm down."

Jones finished speaking and left.

The door was sealed shut.

"Dinner's ready!"

Adolph called from the kitchen, smiling as he served the dishes.

For him, being able to cook Luann's favorite meals for his family was his happiest moment.

Myron hurried to help.

Jones sat at the head of the table, sullen, his face devoid of any smile from start to finish.

He only ate a few bites before stopping.

He looked at Myron, who was serving Luann.

Suddenly, he felt that although Myron's family wasn't as good as the Miller family, at least he shared a common interest with Luann, could paint, was handsome, and treated Luann well. In any case, he was at least passable.

Now, Myron seemed quite pleasing to the eye.

Better than RH's boss, right?

Jones suddenly spoke, "You've been married for so long, why don't you have a child yet?"

Luann paused in the middle of eating shrimp, looking at him in surprise.

Jones continued talking to himself, "If you had a child, maybe you wouldn't have to marry into RH."

Adolph said awkwardly, "Even if they wanted a child, it wouldn't be possible in three days. Besides, it wouldn't even show up on a test."

Jones seemed to think of something and didn't say anything more.

Instead, he got up, went to the other side of the living room, and called Barlow.

"Mr. Bartlett, are you really not going to reconsider?"

"My daughter has been feeling unwell these past few days, always nauseous and wanting to vomit. Do you think she might be pregnant?"

Barlow chuckled.

"Mr. Miller, our boss said, as long as it's Luann, he doesn't mind raising someone else's child."

Jones hung up the phone with a snap.

He stomped his foot hard.

"Pervert!"
